“Mr. Romo”

Cowboys QB Tony Romo greets Jameis after the Bucs’ win Sunday.

Joe believes it is safe to say that nine games into his rookie season, America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston, already belongs to an elite fraternity.

That would be the fraternity of starting NFL quarterbacks.

But to hear Jameis talk, it hasn’t yet dawned on him, like he’s still playing college ball in Tallahassee watching NFL quarterbacks on TV from an off-campus apartment.

Last Sunday, one of the better quarterbacks in the game, Tony Romo, sought Jameis after the Bucs win to meet the young gunslinger.

To hear Jameis talk about it yesterday, meeting and talking to Romo was like a weird dream.

“That is still a surreal moment for me,” Jameis sheepishly confessed when Joe asked him about the meeting. “I was blessed to meet Tony Romo and even Matt Cassel after that game. It just went past me. I was just like, ‘It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Romo,’ and he was like, ‘Just keep doing what you do and stay healthy.’ I was like, ‘Yes, sir.’”

This is pretty cool. When with his teammates, Jameis is gregarious, outspoken, emotional, loud and always, always supportive. When he is around guys outside his team that are a little higher up the stepladder, he turns into a humble student and responds with “mister” and “sir.”

    Ooooh Tony Romo! Dallas sucks!

I feel sorry for Romo and Jason Garrett. They both seem like class acts. Too bad they have to work for such a major jerk. I strongly suspect that Garrett would have just as soon passed on Greg Hardy and all the subsequent headaches…fights with teammates on the sidelines. Jerry Jones has sold his soul to the devil and I wouldn’t be surprised if the ‘Boys go a few more years without a playoff appearance. Karma can be a real beotch!

Dallas fans were looking right past us. They were looking at Miami hoping to go 4-6, since 3-6 was certain. No way the mighty Cowboys lose to Tampa.
And then, its the same narrative when we shut them up. Its how bad Dallas is. Its how Bad Atlanta is. Its how bad Mawlins is. Its not about the Bucs, the team we all love, fighting their butts off for Tampa Bay as a whole. Its just how unlucky the other team is. We should be grateful for the gift. F thwt! Im done with that! If people wana hate our qb and basically tells us to sit down and shut up while 31 real teams compete, lets give a big F U! They wana paint our qb as the bad guy., someone for fans of other teams to hate, F it, lets be the villians then. Lets be the Raiders of the 70’s, a team that will beat the hell out of ypu with a fan base to match! Atlanta didnt give us spit, we watched our team punch a far superior team in the mouth and take a win from them in their house. Sure they almost won. They are talented, more so than us. But we took it!
IDK the last two games at rayjay made me sick, with Giant and Cowboy fans walking around like its their stadium and we’re the ones not welcome. Same with Red Sux fan at the trop and of course, every Lightning playoff run. Im sick of being nice, naive little Tampa Bay, that just supposed to be grateful that we get to play real teams. Lets kick some ass! Figuratively of course.

  7. Howard Cosell Says:

Howard suggests that we kick ass literally.

  10. cmurda Says:

@Largo, I hear you with the Giants and Cowboys games and the Rays games but the Lightning? No sir. That’s where the line gets drawn. Tampa loves it’s Lightning. I was lucky enough to go to several playoff games during our 04 Cup run and believe me even against Philly, the opposing fans were a tiny percentage of the Bolts fans. With that said, with success Ray Jay will also be in the same boat. The Bucs have been perenially bad for the better part of a decade. The fan base has lost interest at the games. All they need is a reason. I’m already seeing it. Also, it may feel that way but believe me on TV against the Cowboys it was far louder when the Bucs made plays rather than when the Cowboys did.

Cousins is in his 4th season and his first as his team’s unchallenged starter. He wasn’t even close to being ready to play his rookie season despite being a 5th year senior when he left school. Jameis on the other hand, left after his redshirt sophomore season and is starting in the NFL a mere seven months after his last college game… and somehow, someway, that makes Cousins better than him? I don’t think so. By Winston’s 4th season, he may have very well played in three Pro Bowls and had a handful of playoff games. By your extremely ridiculous rationale, you must also think that Jerricho Cotchery is a better WR than Mike Evans because he has more career catches, or that Earnest Graham a better RB than Torii Gurley because he has more career yards, or that Barrett Ruud a better MLB than Kwon Alexander because he has more career tackles.

Pure stupidity is pretty much what it is. If you truly believe that Kirk Cousins is a better QB than Winston, try to find one GM or coach that would take Cousins over Winston… you can’t.

LargoSam I looked it up comparing the two’s first 8 games their rookie seasons. I guess I don’t agree with you.

    Winston 142 cmp 264 att 1895 yards 57.5% 118yrds rushing 10 tds 7ints 2 fumbles.

Take your trolling to the Redskins blogs.

  16. Buccfan37 Says:

I looked at an Eagles site, something like bleeding green, to see what was being said about the Bucs matchup. It started off with Jameis was an Eagles fan growing up. It said the Eagles wanted Evans badly and wanted to sign VJackson also. I could not get the fan comments up, what I was really looking for.

    What say you now LargoSam?

  20. Buc1987 Says:

LargoSam…now for my reply to your post.

It seems that you have no comprehension that Jameis Winston is the clear cut leader of this team. Bigger than GMC, LVD, or even Lovie for that matter.

Joe knows I’m right about this. Which makes more than enough sense to keep putting up gushing love for all things Jameis.

Do they do that on PR and BucNation? Not sure about it because I rarely go to either of them these days. I’m sure if I were to go to either one right now, I’d find plenty of articles written about Jameis. So it’s not just on this site alone.

Jameis is the entire engine, not just the spark plug, the fuel injector, or the carb. He’s the whole freaking engine on this team right now. Will he have bad days? Of course, but that’s where the rest of the team will pick up the slack. I truly believe that this team wants to win FOR Jameis, more than they do for Lovie.

  23. LargoSamIM Says:

okay guys….. first, let me repeat… I root FOR Jameis (and the Bucs).
#2: I am comparing the two QBs THIS year…. NOW
I just get SICK and Tired of joe(s) OVERLY praising Jameis (and slobbering all over themselves) in seemingly unrelated posts (i.e., OL, Koetter, Romo)
I don’t read the posts directly about Jameis in order to avoid this… but it doesn’t matter what the headline is…. 90% of the posts on this site include this over-the-top “Jameis Idolatry”. I mean, let’s face it, Jameis DID NOT have a good game against Dallas (that said, I’m glad the Bucs won and I admire his ability to “lead” the final winning drive (thank God for the penalty on his fumble !)
But if Joe(s) are going to refer to Kirk Cousins as “Kirk friggin’ Cousins” and shower Jameis with undue praise… then people need to realize that, right now, KIRK COUSINS > JAMEIS WINSTON

(and I am not a Redskins fan or a Kirk Cousins fan…. just pointing out the unbiased TRUTH).

  24. Danati74 Says:

It is not the truth. Noone knows what you are talking about. If you are going for Jamies than show it some other way. “KIRK COUSINS > JAMEIS WINSTON” This is how you show your support for our new franchise QB? Jeez.

You poor thing. Is someone holding a gun to your head making you click on JBF? If not and you’re just so SICK of it all, there’s a remedy for it. Just don’t click that mouse.

  26. LargoSamIM Says:

    @Danati74

apprently, you have a redinf disorder… yes, I am rooting FOR Jameis…. I am rooting AGAINST all of this (too much) “JAMEIS ADULATION” by the Joe(s). I mean, I get it, they like Jameis and are trying to promote him… FINE !! But to start calling other QBs names (e.g., Kirk “friggin’ Cousins'”) and to include “Jameis Praise” in 90% of their posts – is OFFENSIVE (to my common sense nd decency). Let them praise Jameis in posts that include James in the title… okay ? I like the site and visit often -because they have so much info… unfortunately, the “info” almost ALWAYS includes their over-the-top “MAN LOVE” for Jameis. Don’t get me wrong… I like and root for Jameis… and, as soon as (if) he shows he is a better QB than someone that the Joe(s) refer to as “Kirk friggin’ Cousins” (considering that, as of RIGHT NOW, this “friggin’ guy is a better QB than Jameis !). It is rude and unjust to call opposing QBs bad names when they are, in fact, BETTER than your “Man Love” . I mean, talk about “Blind Love”… wow !!!

  27. Buccfan37 Says:

    Love don’t last long.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

“90% of the posts on this site include this over-the-top “Jameis Idolatry”.”

This also a non factual statement. Start at the top of JBF and scroll your way from top to bottom. I did and counted 4 JW articles, to 13 non Jameis articles. So it’s far from the truth. Which does INDEED make you look like a hater. That’s fine though, he needs you to hate him. It’s part of what drives Winston. The more haters the better….

  29. Buc1987 Says:

Bares repeating since you seem to want to ignore this…

Hat tip Macabee from PR under a special section “The Winston Report”

    Macabee says :

“Now all of you guys lighten up on the Kid! Wasn’t his best day, but got the job done. Possibly the greatest QB of the NFL Modern Era, Peyton Manning, who broke the NFL’s all-time passing yardage record with his first completion today has been benched after 3 quarters. Manning has thrown 4 interceptions, 3 in the 1st half and was 5-of-20 for 35 yards before the benching. His quarterback rating was 0.0.
Everybody has a bad day sometime, even a rookie who has played all of 9 games!”

  32. Danati74 Says:
