Here Comes The Read-Option

Philly analysts have no idea what to expect Sunday

There’s all kinds of talk up in Philly about how expected starting quarterback Mark Sanchez needs to get back to his comfort zone in Chip Kelly’s offense – as in running more in the read-option spread against the Bucs on Sunday.

Former Jets personnel chief, linebackers coach and current SiriusXM NFL Radio host Pat Kirwan was bellowing on the air yesterday about how Sunday’s game film revealed about five times that Sanchez should have run the ball in the read-option instead of handing off or throwing. Sanchez entering the 20-19 home loss to the Dolphins for injured starter Sam Bradford.

The folks at Philly Sports Network broke down what they expect from Sanchez against the Bucs in a well-written piece — but the takeaway is they have no idea what to expect other than total imbalance.

Running game to either increase/decrease massively
The Eagles had a real inability to run the ball under Sanchez last year at one stage and it cost the team dearly as there was far more pressure on his shoulders than there should have been. (Sound familiar?) The same has happened to Sam Bradford this season and with Sanchez already tripping over Murray and missing him completely on a pass, it could be set to continue.

The running game is either going to be the majority or minority in this game..there’s no 60/40 or  50/50 middleground. If Murray can get rolling early it will be absolutely crucial to the success of a much faster Offense under Sanchez. If not, then we could very well see a performance close to week one where close to 50 passes are thrown by the Quarterback. The class of 2014 share a lot more chemistry with Sanchez so it will be interesting to see if they ease him in with a heavy run presence or drop him at the deep end and make him throw heavily to kick things off.

Joe would wager that Kelly plays pass first to open up his run game. The Bucs don’t have a ton of experience in their defensive front-7, and they struggle to rush the passer. A lot of tempo, short passes and a lot of Darren Sproles could be a tough tonic for Tampa Bay.

The Eagles are a mess. I wouldnt underestimate Sanchez though. He looked comfortable often last year and we’ll see what he can do without Maclin.
The up tempo sounds nice, but looses effect when it confuses your own players more than the opposing defense.
Jameis needs to be on point and Evans needs to hold on to the ball. We can not let this defense scare us! They play alot of man to man, which dosent work when at an athletic disadvantage. Its not that we are far superior there (would be with Jax and ASJ) But neither are they. I think Evans makes Byron his b

I still think they lean on the run and short play action passes this week.

The BUCS make all back up QBs starting for the first time look like All-Pros.
Hope they break that trend and also the trend of not being able to start a winning streak

Lol at Uncle Fester and his read option butt-fumble.

    GO BUCS!

Time to prove that this team has turned the corner!

I thought this game was a sure Bucs loss early on. The closer the game gets the more I like the chances for the upset. Go Bucs!

Let Sanchez run the read option and frequently keep the ball. Who is the Eagles 3rd QB?

Our DE’s may not be able to rush the passer but if they just hold their contain we’ll be fine.

We have another great advantage…we have LB’s that are quick and fly to the ball and were designed to stop just this kind of thing. Remember when Vick was tearing up the league and the Dixe Chicks would meet us and DB55 simply took Vick’s game away from him?

Kwon and LVD might be busy dudes on Sunday.

    Bring on the READ OPTION!!

  8. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Imagine Sanchez keeping it on the read option and getting leveled by Kwon.

    Who’s the backup to Sanchise?

  9. JAB83 Says:

Seeings how they are from Philly…. Maybe the “READING” part of the Read Option is what the problem is???

    It as simple as that!

  10. JAB83 Says:

The major key to the BUCS winning this game will be to continue what they have been doing ALL SEASON… Progress and stick to the game plan…

Good things happen in 3’s right!!! So I am looking forward to our third consecutive game of outstanding defensive play…primarily from our DBs in the passing game and our DL and LB in the run game… Should we manage to continue that success and somehow find a way to rattle Butt Fumbler with pressure early maybe even with a sack fumble TD…. We can win this game going away…

I am expecting us to shut someone out this year!!! Perhaps this is the game???

24-0 BUCS!!! Get er done boys!!!
