America’s Quarterback Speaks

Tosses props to teammates.

Tosses props to teammates.

Want to know why the Bucs were so giddy about getting America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston?

Consider the very first words out of his mouth when interviewed on the postgame show heard on the Buccaneers Radio Network.

“Let me tell you something,” Jameis began. “You have to give a shout out for everybody for being a team.”

Notice that? No “me.” No “I.” No glossing himself in any way. His first thought, his first comment, his first sentence, he is propping up his teammates.

Folks, that’s what winners do.

As for his rushing touchdown, Jameis said it was simple.

“That’s want-to.”

When the overtime was brought up, Jameis seemed like he wanted to cry, almost saying he set the Bucs up to lose by missing an open receiver in the end zone that would have sealed a win.

“I wanted to score and not give them a chance,” Jameis said. “I didn’t make the play. I am disappointed in myself but the way we overcame everything, that’s a great team win.”

As far as his mindset after the debacle in Washington, Jameis refused to set the blame where the blame belonged, on the defense.

“My whole attitude was redemption,” Jameis said. “Come back and play harder and play smarter.”

[No, he never said that. – Joe]

  2. lurker Says:

jameis is a team player. who has said he isn’t?

  3. Mark Alscott Says:

He has greatness written all over him. Love the passion, but he has to stop blocking LB’s and D linemen. Without him, the Bucs are scewed.

  4. Connor Says:

I’ll give Lovie a pass for today because we won. But honestly we hired him as our head coach so he could improve our defense, which he has failed to do.

For Jameis’ and the rest of this teams sake, they need to fire Lovie and make Koetter the head coach before another team hires and Winston has to start over with a new guy again!

  5. Buclife Says:

Lovie is Dog poo is the new king troll!!

The corner has been turned today. The Bucs can play with anyone in the league now. Lovie haters need to pack up their tents.

  7. cometowin2 Says:

Jamies is the man! Will admit I originally wanted Mariota but came around to Winston specifically due to the intangibles like leadership just before the draft. So glad Lovie was coach last year!!

  8. OneLove Says:

Lovie is Dog Poo is probably another idiot that uses multiple accounts…

  9. Buclife Says:

Lets finish the rebuild before we fire anyone. I don’t want to start all over again with a new rebuild. We need some stability not changing coaches every few year.

  10. WalkdaPlank Says:

Gotta like the kid. Taking accountability for missing a play and crediting teammates when he made good plays.

Lol I mean come on, I knew the Lovie nut riders would act like this was the most impressive win in the entire NFL this year, but it took a lot of Falcons help today. They didn’t punt once! They moved it at will. A win is a win, but lets not act like it changes the horrifying defense, Lovie’s 100% responsibility. Jameis is the hope, Lovie is the dope. It’s that simple.

  12. Couch Fan Says:

This is the type of game that could turn around the whole season. I doubt that will be the case but would be thrilled if im wrong. I do believe in Jameis though!! GO BUCS!!

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Lovie finally sent a message to the whole team that he wanted to win……it was the right call to go for it…..he gets a yard…we win….he doesn’t, they have an easier chance to tie…but can’t beat us in regulation.

But…it was the message he sent that mattered.

My problem is that we don’t seem to be able to get a yard….no matter when….that is a serious problem.

I didn’t like the playcall because it looks like we telegraphed that exact same play before the time out.

  14. J Says:

Thank you Atl for choosing us as the “head-scratcher” game

  15. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    I’m very proud of Jameis.

That said…I think Koetter could make either Winston or Mariota good. He’s experience at both styles.

  16. J Says:

Koetter is the biggest offseason acquisition in a long time for the bucs

  17. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @Tampabaybucfan

I don’t know if you can do this…but if you go back to the last touchdown the Falcon’s scored…one of our guys tipped the pass, and deflected it to the wide receiver. Had he not tipped it, the ball would have been a pick and we would have won.

There are always little things…what ifs.

All that matters is the end result.

    Just love this kid’s mindset!

Let’s not kid ourselves though folks, the defense hasn’t turned any corners, we were just opportunistic with some ridiculous giveaways from atl.

Still can’t stop a slant to save our lives. But, maybe it will improve over the season.

I do have to say our first 2 drafts of this regime seem pretty decent.

  20. Eric Says:

Way to go Lovie. Bringing that team back after that devastating loss last week is GREAT coaching.

And I believe that is the third straight no turnover game for Jameis.

Oh but he is a “turnover machine”.

I also notice that the one defensive player Lovie has drafted is damn good!!!

I’m sure none of this impresses the haters.

  21. Dave Says:

He and s lot of the other youth has the future looking so bright.
Get a DE, a couple DBs, and another WR….
    Playoff team for years

  22. Jameisbucsfan Says:

I love the feeling of victory, but if we keep on winning we will not have a chance to draft Jalen Ramsey. Oh the dilemma. Go Bucs!

  23. Andrew Says:

Lovie and Jameis are fine, the defense is not so much. This is the first year of the #1 overall pick. Calm your tits people. Continuity is the key. He is making progress, just not on the side of the ball your used to. Easy tigers.

  24. Q Says:

    Go bucs

  25. James Walker Says:

We are two safeties and two corners away from a good defence.
