What Did Lavonte Say?

Lavonte David drew a surprising reaction from Vincent Jackson

Fascinating behind-the-scenes video has emerged from the Jaguars-Buccaneers game.

The Buccaneers and the NFL “mic’d up” Vincent Jackson for the game and the typical compilation video was posted on Buccaneers.com. (Video here)

After Jackson fields the onside kick that effectively ended the game, and after Tim Jennings and the secondary allowed a lightning-quick touchdown drive to pull the Jags within seven points, Jackson is seen beginning a victory embrace with Lavonte David.

Then, David says something, and Jackson responds by pulling David close, stroking the linebacker’s head and solemnly saying, “Don’t worry about it. It ain’t always got to be pretty.’

So what the hell did David say, as the Bucs closed out their first home win in nearly two years?

Was David apologizing for the defense crumbling late, as well as coughing up a big early lead?

Interesting peek inside the Bucs.

Probably said I’m sorry Tim Jennings sucks and made this game way closer then it had to be. I’m going to talk to lovie hopefully he comes to his senses that him and Jenkins both couldn’t cover a wet floor.

  2. Tampa Tony Says:

Sorry our defensive coordinator is so awful or I’d have more sacks

  3. D-Rome Says:

Lavonte David said, “Man, that wasn’t a pretty effort to save Coach Smith’s job.”

That’s the only explanation considering Lovie’s job was in jeopardy according to a variety of media types.

  4. DB55 Says:

I think he says “I luv u boi” “my bad”

  5. Buc1987 Says:

I think he says, it should have never came down to this.

  6. JAB83 Says:

He said we sucked out there… To which I agree… Don’t worry about it, it ain’t always gotta be pretty… Truer words have never been spoken… And now that I think about it this is exactly the kind of win that has alluded this team for a long time… Ugly wins are sometimes what a team needs to get a streak going… If the D feels like they got away with one they will be inspired to have a better showing next time out…. Which leads me to a bold prediction…

The BUCS will shut out the opponent this week!!! Let’s hope it carries over to the rest of the season!!!!

He told VJAX you got your qb this year next year we get a competent head coach.

  8. CalBucsFan Says:

Devonte said “Man this D is killing’ us and driving me crazy”

  9. bucsbedabest Says:

LVD probably said “hey..I only missed one tackle today!”

  10. Ray Rice Says:

Beast LVD said:…….. Schiano had me playing at an AP level!

  11. DefenseRules Says:

Buc1987 I agree with you. Interesting exchange though … an offensive captain and a defensive captain hugging after a Bucs victory. Not seen often enough in these past few years.

  12. OneLove Says:

He probably apologized to the offense for playing like a b!tch the first half of the season. LVD, Sorry if you can only play a simple “Blitz me every play so I can succeed” scheme, but we DEMAND MORE OF YOU with ALL THAT MONEY WE PAID YOU!!! NOW MAN UP, SHUT THE F!@% UP!! STOP COMPLAINING LIKE A LIL B!TCH AND EXECUTE SON!!!

“It’s as simple as that” – Lovie Smith aka “I demand more from my OLB’s” aka “Mr. Competent”

Reading all these stupid ignorant comments remind me why I rarely come to this site anymore.

  14. Bobby Says:

    ^^^^ That says it all

  15. Bucballya Says:

David was probably telling VJAX great job recovering the onside kick, and then apologizing for the defense as a whole for giving up the late TD in the first place, without which the onside kick recovery would not have been necessary.

He said i am sorry my defensive guys fell apart on you . Don’t worry about it don’t always gotta be pretty . Tbh though everyone knows it’s not LVD fault his entire secondary sucked vs the jags pretty much . If LVD is out there calling the plays though then he better quit because that shit ain’t working for us . Matter of fact I don’t even want the HC or D coordinator calling the plays I rather GMC just call the d line plays and the mlb call the LB plays . The safeties really just need too pay attention and help whoever the first person they can out . Why our safeties play so far back is beyond me
