Redskins Knew Just Where To Go

Hopefully, Lovie Smith will wake up to the Mike Jenkins disaster.

Hopefully, Lovie Smith will wake up to the Mike Jenkins disaster.

Regular readers here know Joe has been in disbelief since the day the Bucs signed Mike Jenkins in 2014.

Lovie is flat out in love with the guy, and those chickens sure came home to roost this afternoon.

Jenkins is a rotten cornerback, has been for years, and the Redskins knew exactly where to go with the game on the line — at Jenkins.

Joe puts the secondary ugliness of the Bucs directly on the head coach.

Lovie handpicked Jenkins and benched Alterraun Verner to get Jenkins on the field. Lovie handpicked Tim “Loaf” Jennings to start, before deactivating today, apparent punishment for garbage play.

Lovie was a defensive backs coach. So was Leslie Frazier. Gil Byrd, the actual cornerbacks coach, was a Pro Bowler at the position.

Sadly, whatever is wrong won’t be fixed anytime soon unless Lovie abandons this Jenkins dream.

End the suffering.

Lovie’s players, Lovie’s scheme, Lovie’s play calls. All losers. Even LVD stinks now because of Lovie’s weak, passive, reactive rather than proactive defense.

  2. Jenkins Sucks Says:

How does this turd still have a job?

  3. Bucnut2 Says:

We haven’t drafted any D players in 2 years. I’m not a Lovie fan, but not on him.

  4. Harry Says:

Jameis was awesome. Mr Koetter was awesome until Lovie went to turtle mode. Lovies D was HORRIFIC.

FIRE LOVE. I cannot tolerate the idea of him being our turtle coach for years to come…. WHO the F..k loses after holding a 24-0 lead?!?!

  5. lightningbuc Says:

Joe, your boys McCoy and David were just as invisible today.

  6. Pete422 Says:

Our secondary is awful, you gotta be kidding me. No way that game should have even been close, let alone lose it.

  7. Harry Says:

Bucnut2, who is in charge of this mess? Who signs the players? Who is the Defensive guru? HOW can you say its not on him?! Whatever, everyone has an opinion I guess. After a 2 week prep for this game, awesome play from the QB, and a 24 point lead, I just don’t get how someone could say its not on Lovie.

  8. gracelivin Says:

Mike Jenkins is by far the worst cornerback in football, Not just the NFL all of football, from pee wee to the Lingerie league. It is time to get rid of the coach that is so in LOVIE with him.

  9. Jred1255 Says:

As bad as the d was, penalties, blah blah blah…why no QB sneak to go up 10 on the 1/2 yard line? Doesn’t make sense. Should be used to this but still angry as hell.

  10. The Rockstar Says:

    Personal Fouls killed this day

    Bucs: Penalties (Number-Yards) 16 – 142
    Skins: Penalties (Number-Yards) 4 – 20

  11. Tampa Tony Says:

Can’t stop TE’s or receivers, fire the defensive coordinator!!!!

  12. ndog Says:

McCoy was just as bad as Jenkins was today. Pass rush situation all day and he did NOTHING! Overpaid and useless no one should ever say his name and Sapp in the same breath again. Almost every bigtime player on this team stepped up and made plays today expect one, McCoy!

  13. Danati74 Says:

I’m with it too. Fire Lovie. This isn’t 1999. Jeez. As soon as we go up, go passive mode. We won like that against the Saints, but not The Redskins. Look Kurt Cousin look like a pro bowler today. I love to run Doug. But when It’s time to throw the ball….F-I got throw the ball.

  14. dabucs Says:

Dline struggled today..you would think with a lead that big, being able to get after the passer would have been a strength..yes the the secondary sucks but they got no help up front…

  15. Tom Edrington Says:

Can’t you just hear Lovie now:

    “Very, very disappointing………”

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This is exactly what happens when we stop the run…..it happens every time…..we should let them run….at least it eats clock.
One completed pass after another, after another, after another, after another, after another…..TD!!!

  17. GoGators Says:

16 Penalties, up 24 lose due to horrid defense. And our head coach is a defensive coach? Oh, how about that clock management?

  18. BrianBucs Says:

The entire secondary area had huge holes in it today

  19. salish_seamonster Says:

    Fire Lovie IMMEDIATELY!

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

This just wasn’t Jenkins…..our pass defense has been putrid all year….we have holes in it every game….I have never seen so many open recievers and uncontested passes….our red-zone defense is non-existent….yes Jenkins was terrible but so was Banks & Verner……just awful.

  21. Burl Morgan Says:

Woefully painful to watch. I can’t remember the defense being this bad. Very disappointing to say the least. The fans deserve better!!!

  22. Howard Cosell Says:

    Fire the Glazers

  23. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Lovie sucks the big dog.

  24. Cwis Says:

Mariota, Bortles and now Cousins all look like Joe Montana vs our defense… All three for 4 TDs, only one pick between the three and all nearly 70% completion percentage. Zone defense just isn’t working.

  25. "TheKevin" Says:

Lol who cares anymore. Same sh it as the last 10 years lol.

  26. meat Says:

  27. "TheKevin" Says:

Nest up hahahah ATLANTA AND JULIO HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA

  28. Buccfan37 Says:

Mr. Magoo saw this loss coming. Rosie O’Donnell would have been open against that secondary. It looked like somebody deflated the Bucs tires at halftime. You could see it coming from a mile away. Just pitiful execution and for non buc fans a laugher at best.

  29. Tim S Says:

I agree with the majority. Lovie has to go and the sooner the better. He’s worse than Morris and Schiano…so pathetic!

  30. "TheKevin" Says:

I watch the bucs for a good laugh and that’s the only reason lol

  31. JP4 Says:

Too late for Lovie to wake up, this nightmare is his creation. Time to end it now, wake Lovie up to tell him he’s FIRED!

  32. mike10 Says:

And he let Revis walk… what would this team look like with a shut down, Super Bowl winning corner?

  33. Harry Says:

TBBF, “Putrid” – good word for our defense!! I also like HORRIFIC!

  34. Bobby Says:

We totally shut down the run game but, as usual, we let the opposing QB have a carreer day.

  35. Fsuking Says:

Time to fire Lovie. Midseason style. Florida Style.

  36. T in Orlando Says:

Of course the Redskins knew exactly where to go with the ball, all they had to do is study a couple tapes from the 2007 Bears D, and any and all weakness in the scheme could be found.

Lovie Smith was a good Defensive Coordinator when the NFL was still catching up to the Tampa 2, but now that every team knows how to beat it, even with mediocre players on offense, stubborn Smith is nothing but a relic of scheme that has long been figured out.

    #GoBucs

  37. Bojim Says:

    Fuxk Lovie and Jenkins.

  38. Tampa Tony Says:

So much for that 5th ranked d

  39. Tampa Tony Says:

Can the Bucs stop a slant?

  40. Bucfan951 Says:

Let me get this straight. The skins spotted the bucs 24 points with 5 left in the second quarter and the bucs still somehow found a way to lose the game? Anyone who defends lovie on this should be shot! I can’t get over how bad lovie is as a coach. I’m sure he’s a hell of a nice guy outside of football but he is absolutely horrible as a head coach! It just seems like he has lost control of this team. 22 games and he still can’t get it right? And don’t give me this “he needs to draft a defense” crap because he has hand picked these free agents he’s using on his defense. All of these guys who have “Tampa 2” experience are getting burned. I’m sorry but I am really hoping they fire lovie and hire someone who can actually run a team. Let the gm pick his own man!!!!

  41. MaTLoK727 Says:

most of yall commenting should get fired , fire rah , fire greg , fire lovie , even one muppet said GMC was overpaid in this thread blah , browns raiders fire there coachs every 2 or 3 years they both been great right , i want changes same as every buc fan but ill start with a new cb or 2 .
if we did go new coach this year ill pray GMC gets traded so my fav buc player can compete for a sb cus it wont be with the bucs if buc fans had there wish of new coach every year or 2

  42. Tampa Tony Says:

Cousins had 7 incompletions, just another sign of how bad this d is

We cut the best CB in the NFL for the losers we currently have. 1000% on Lovie.

can go the other way 2 , 10000% on lovie we got a offense with high rewards outside of doug every starter on Offense is him ,,, so ur cool with still having revis and possibly no GMC LVD or doug or 2 out of 3 just for revis and his horrible mark dom contract ?

  45. Howard Cosell Says:

Correct me if I’m wrong , but I think Cousins set a Redskin record
for completions. KIrk Cousins. A record setting passing day.

Truth: The Glazers give less of a F**k about building a real team than
Hugh Culverhouse did. They get their TV revenue.

    Daniel Snider > Glazers

  46. Lovie Is Dog Poo Says:

^^Have you been watching? LVD and McCoy have contributed nothing meaningful outside the Jacksonville game, and even then big whoop, it’s the Jags. Revis is double the player of both. Besides the cap situation isn’t that bad, they could have had them all. Remember all those atrocious FA signings? That’s why we can’t have Revis.

  47. Howard Cosell Says:

Glazers do a great job of intimidating the local media.

  48. Howard Cosell Says:

Yeah, we haven’t been anywhere near the cap since Keyshawn.
The only reason we don’t keep the Revis’ and the Bennetts is
    pure, f**k-the-fans, stupid cheapness.

  49. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

After watching this game I apologize to the posters always calling Lovie incompetent and other names. Today he has earned everything the fans give him. I knew they were going to lose at the end of the 1st half with1:20 left and 3 timouts left and he tried to run out the clock but waits until 25 seconds left then decides to try get a field goal. Then the Skins make their defensive stand that lasted for the rest of the game. Conservative thinking only belongs ib politics not footbal.that toss back on the one yard line then not going for the td on 4th was ridiculous.

  50. BucFan20 Says:

Are we close to 2012 yet?

  51. Mike10 Says:

David, good points. Now compare that to their onside kick. Outcoached…
