Kirk Cousins Says His Picks Are Getting Better

October 20th, 2015

McCownlaughJoe can’t emphasize how badly the Redskins, Tampa Bay’s opponent on Sunday, are imploding.

Forget that Joe watched Washington’s heinous effort against the Jets last weekend. Just listen to the rumbles coming from the nation’s capital.

Top Skins analysts and team icons are calling for career backup quarterback Colt McCoy to replace Kirk Cousins, another career backup.

Head coach Jay Gruden has issued a “Code Red,” and he wasn’t talking about Buccaneers colors. And there’s the chatter about Gruden on the brink of getting fired — if he loses to the Bucs.

Doug Farrar of Sports Illustrated claims Gruden’s downfall will be defending Cousins to no end. Cousins has been so bad he’s left to saying he doesn’t suck as badly as he did last year.

“I don’t feel like the turnovers this year have been quite as awful as they were last year,”Cousins said on local radio the day after the Jets game. “Some of the interceptions I threw last year were just very poor reads, very poor throws, very poor decisions, and while some of the interceptions this year have been that, I don’t think it’s been quite as many.”

Today, Lovie Smith called the Bucs’ trip to Washington a must-win game. It sure is. If the Bucs are improved from last season, then they should be the favorites Sunday.

    Must win for either team.
Whichever coach loses will face a ****-storm.
The Bucs are the better and improving team.
We need to treat this like a playoff game.

    # 3-3 > 2-4

Putting A nail In Grudens coffin, sending the Redskin fans into an endless downward spiral, and cementing Lovie and Jameis as Legends!!!!

    I LIKE IT

  3. Howard Cosell Says:

Lol….the poor Redskins fans are a lot like Bucs fans.
Basically decent people living through hard times and
    remembering the glory days.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Their nickname is fine….except it insults the Native Americans because of their poor play…..

Buccaneers out there at sea (if they are still living) are too drunk to care about our team.

  5. Buc1987 Says:

TBBF…lol sometimes that’s the only way to care about our team…

This has “TRAP GAME” written all over it

  7. Buccfan37 Says:

The Skins were 4 1/2 point favorites yesterday, down from 5. The fact that the Jets are good defensively tells me the Skins are not as bad as portrayed. I expect a close game and the Bucs will have to play well to come out victorious.

  8. McBuc Says:

Buccfan, I though the Jets were favored by 6.

Let’s see boys and girls, The Bucs have played the Titans (1-4), the Aints (2-4), the Jags (1-5), and the Houston Texans (2-4). Even with losing to undefeated Carolina (5-0), the combined record of our opponents is 11 wins and 17 losses. Up next, the Redskins; record 2-4. What a cupcake schedule so far !!! Me thinks the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters of this season will not be kind to Lovie. I saw this whole act in Chicago. The clueless look when a decision must be made. No idea on how to rally his team in the second half. And of course the moronic personal moves he makes. The Chicago Bears are still reeling from him being coach up there. He’s been living off his 1 super Bowl appearance all these years. At least Chicago has a good coach in John Fox. Look what we got.

This article makes it seem that the redskins are just ridiculously bad. But what would it say then if the bucs lose this game?

  11. Buccfan37 Says:

McBuc… those lines I quoted came from the Tampa Bay Times Latest Lines feature. It may have changed by today.

  12. DB55 Says:

Didn’t know Mason Foster is a redskin. Must have missed that I thought he was with Chicago.

  13. Dreambig Says:

In 2 out of 3 of our losses we looked like a complete train wreck. Anything can happen Sunday. I am not ready to pencil in a win against anyone yet.

  14. cmurda Says:

Well, as long as the picks haven’t been as bad. I don’t see what the problem is.

In a dose of real news, Winston>Mariota. I watched the Titans this week and Mariota looked terrible. His passes just float in the air like little angels ready to be carried away by the defense. The injury was unfortunate but it’s quite obvious to me that J Dub was the right choice. The first 2 weeks had me questioning it but time has a way of showing who the better Qb is.

  15. Gt40bear Says:

Considering this team’s recent past, Cousins will look like the second coming of Sonny Jurgenson, Billy Kilmer and Super Bowl Doug Williams! Hoping not but the way the Lovie Bucs come out flat off layoffs and make #2 QBs look like HOFers, not expecting much.

That was funny as hell. The whole post was good. Thanks for the laugh.

If the Bucs get back to an even record this Sunday, might I dare to dream of a winning record sometime in their future! Go Bucs!

  17. McBuc Says:

Buccfan, sorry, I thought you meant WA was favored over the Jets, they are favored over the Bucs.

Washington is going to blitz. No doubt. Take a look at the game against the Jets. Fitzpatrick’s two touchdown passes came against the blitz, he was not sacked in the game and his interception was not thrown on a play in which the defense blitzed. Washington has only blitzed 36 times this season. 19 vs the Jets. Kirk Cousins went 2/10 for 3.4 YPA on passes 15+YDS downfield. Absolutely pathetic. He’s the only QB with 8+ INT on 230 or fewer passes, this year. Cousins’ interceptions come from bad decisions to throw downfield, while he regularly makes bad decisions checking the ball down to covered running backs or tight ends. How does Washington do against rookie QB? Teddy Bridgewater beat them. Nick Foles was the last rookie they beat in 2012. The Redskins plan is to disrupt and rattle Winston from the start. Screens and quick slants..all day long. Koetter has had two weeks to prepare. Redskins are a dangerous team. They are 2-1 at home and have won their last two.
