ASJ On Cusp Of History

September 19th, 2015
Nearing a Bucs record.

Nearing a Bucs record.

Joe understands how some fans grumble about Austin Seferian-Jenkins. The second-year tight end didn’t make much of an impact last year after being drafted in the second round.

Of course, ASJ was banged up most of the year. He actually came into rookie minicamp hobbled.

Not sure if the following is indicative of the Bucs’ offense over the years or its tight ends (and Joe loved Jimmie Giles), but already this early in his career, ASJ could set a Bucs record.

Last week, ASJ had 110 yards receiving. If he has 100 or more yards receiving tomorrow at New Orleans, then he will be the very first Bucs tight end to record consecutive games of 100-yards receiving.

This stat surprised Joe. Who would have thought that Target parking lot masturbater Sgt. Winslow didn’t have had such a feat?

Call me a homer, but I am starting Austin this week against the Saint’s D (fantasy)

  2. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Last year’s draft may end up netting one good receiver between ASJ and ME.

We’ve already seen ASJ lose the biggest part of a season to injury and ME has the tender hammy and has also lost games last year and this year. Between two of them we might be able to keep one of them on the field at a time. And if that happens it’s not the worst thing…at least we get one 6-5 physical target and hey…during the odd time when they both happen to be healthy it’s really good.

  3. Bucnut2 Says:

IF we only had someone to throw to them. Oh yeah we do, but MG8 is holding a clipboard. This is just like last year, Loive is sitting the QB with the best chacne of helping us win and playing the other guy. The upside is that I’ll bet anyone on this site that we win the post game press conference. JW will be smiling and spinning our latest loss. It will be awesome. If only he could play as well as he talks.

  4. Bucnut2 Says:

    Lovie

  5. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Bucnut

Speaking of QB’s Cardale Jones may be playing his way out of the #1 draft pick.
Two ints against freaking Northern Ill and he’s benched for Barrett who has also looked horrible. The Buckeyes struggling with N.I.U. except for the Buckeye defense. We got no chance to get Joey Bosa.

  6. Bucnut2 Says:

I’m an Ohio State fan and Cardale=JW. Bad feet slow delivery and spotty accuracy. Wouldn’t pick him number 1.Disagree on Bosa. I sense we will have a top 3 pick

  7. Bucnut2 Says:

St Pete, you have been optimistic all along although I do remember that we both preferred MM over JW. What’s your take on tomorrow’s game?

  8. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    Just wait on it.

  9. Bucnut2 Says:

    wait on what

  10. Lakeland Buc Says:

ASJ, Mike Evans and Jameis Winston will do a lot of good things for the Bucs. And we will add players to this team through the draft. We should keep Lovie for the full 5 seasons and draft the right players. And if he haven’t shown us anything by then, get another Head Coach. We should be a very talented team, with the draft picks. And we shouldn’t have a problem getting another Head Coach. But the problem with firing Lovie now is the fact that, we won’t get a better coach here. No coach want to come here with this depleted roster. We kept Sam Wyche around for 4 losing seasons, but we were building the team through the draft. By 1995 the roster was loaded with talent, we went 7-9 with a young team. So they fired Sam Wyche and hired Tony Dungy and the rest is history. I’m just being realistic we need 5 more losing seasons to build this roster. That’s the only way that we will be able to compete in the NFL, we can’t get any decent free agents. Everything has to come through the draft, maybe one or two decent undrafted rookies. We can call for Lovie head 24-7, but we also will be calling for the next Head Coach head. We should just get used to the losing, and look forward to the draft.

I just want all of you Mariota lovers to leave and never come back. Jamies was better, is better, and will be better. One game into his career and you people want to say hes not the right pick. UNREAL!

Ha BucNot you a Ohio State fan that explains a lot I mean a lot. Go live in Ohio and root for the Browns!

  13. JAB83 Says:

I was beganing to wounded if an ASJ that ah boy article was gonna be run… I waited all week to say this SO HEAR ME LOUD AND CLEAR!!!!

AS I SAID PRIOR TO GAME ONE!!! Win or lose we need ASJ to have a big game because if he did it would add a dynamic to the offence that would allow us to win more games than expected this year… This was do to the fact it would force other teams to game plan for him…

THIS IS THE RRAL MUST WIN GAME…. WE WIN OUR DIVISION WE, AND WE WILL…. ALL IS GOOD…

Now than the defense was woeful I know… But I still believe we are better than that… The Cincy game this preseason gives me that confidenc… We can be that good… This Titains game had all the haulmarks of a team getting jumped early and not being able to get back in the game before it was over… Kinda like a college game… Sometimes when two ranked teams meet one gets an early edge and that’s all she wrote… BUT WE ARE NOT PLAYING COLLEGE FOOTBALL… You can make the playoff with stinkers….

THAT SAID, WHEN THIS TEAM STARTS TO EXCELL I WANT ALL YOU CRY BABIES TO BACKOFF!!! NONE OF THIS ITS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY SUCK….

WE ALL KNOW ITS A YOUNG TEAM…. WAIT FOR IT!!!!STOP CRYING!!!!

A blowout sucks but crying about it sucks even more… These guys need support… Or would you prefer to not support them…

The more negative you are in life the more likely you will have negative results no matter what you do… Stay positive and always look for the positive… Build on them and encourage those results…

SO ALL OF YOU FOR THE LOVE OF THIS TEAM, STOP PILLING ON WITH ALL THE CRYING!!!!

ASJ was a wonderful story this past week… YOU CAN BANK ON HIS STEADY IMPROVEMENT… Doug will ball out ME and VJ will show up… JW will be JW and this D is not that bad… Remember Cincy!!! Allow for mistakes and…..

    WAIT FOR IT!!!

STOP CRYING, JUST ENJOY WHAT IS THERE IS TO ENJOY AND BE HAPPY WITH YOUR LIFE AND LET IT REFLECT IN YOUR FANDUM!!!!!

Peace and happines coming to you all so, SMILE, Jesus loves you!!!

  14. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

lol y does that stat even matter? just give us a win

  15. JAB83 Says:

So the auto spell messed that post up a bit and my grammer was off but you all you get what I am saying… Stop Piling on with negative crap and crying about a game… If you enjoy life and or are looking for positive results… It all starts with the way you think and what you say… There is power in your words… Speak life into this team no matter what and watch and wait for the results expecting and knowing they are coming!!!

Starting this week… The past is the past… Everyone that reads this… Stay positivewith everyone u talk Bucs ball with… Let it rub off on them vs the other way around… Force multiply possitve vibes!!!

  16. CocoaBchBuc Says:

LOL….I’m with you Nole On Sat….if everbody on this blog faced the scrutiny JW has thru 1 game how many would still be working for the same employer? You have been posting “Just wait on it” for a little while now, and i totally agree. (Btw, Gators fan here)

  17. Bucnut2 Says:

Ndog,I’ve been a bucs fan for 24 years. Say whatever you want. The bottom line is we drafted the wrong qb because of homer bias. Nothing else

  18. Bucnut2 Says:

Mole on sat- willing to wait until we draft the next qb in 3 years.

  19. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @Bucnut

I think we’ll play better tomorrow than most expect. I think it will be a close game. But this team is not mentally tough…yet…that’s one of the reason’s we took Fameis…to provide what GMC and LVD fail to deliver in terms of hating to lose.

Glad JAB83 is here to continue the optimism. Love me some positive thinking.

I think we have a shot tomorrow…if we get blown out…it could get really ugly around here.

  20. JAB83 Says:

If it does get bad, I would still challenge everyone to find at least one positive regardless… After that say what you want… But make sure to keep a balanced perspective… Otherwise its not wise to expect to see anything better moving forward… Just being real… No one likes loosing but how do you stop it??? That’s an answer everyone expects someone else to figure out… So I am giving you all the inside scoop… This is.what has to happen in the locker room as well as with the fan base… And if Movie can’t figure it out perhaps another coach will… But why should we wait if we can do our part now???

  21. BucsFan85 Says:

LakelandBuc and 87, as well as a few others are what keeps me coming back here. There is enough negativity in this world. I come here to restore any shred of hope, not to wallow in negativity. especially after 1 GAME! Coaching changes every 2 years have not done us any justice in the past. NOSBOS says it best. Just wait for it!

  22. This Guy Right Here Says:

There should be more pressure on Mike Evans, than anyone else on that offense, JW, VJ, ASJ…

Mike Evans needs to come up big. Make up for flaking out last week… And make his presence felt, easing the way for VJ, ASJ, and Doug.

This game is gonna be all on our offense to win it… Cause if we depend on our D again??? With THAT HC??? And that soft ass ‘captain’ I saw mic’ed up the other day??? Showing up as soft as a motherfcker???

We’re gonna need our offense and Koetter to win this one…

Saturday fckin night, and I’m still sick to my stomach on how Lovie & the D got carved up by a fckin ROOK!

HEY KOETTER, lets win this game with our O, and SECURE YOUR SPOT AS OUR FUTURE HC!

  23. Bucco brice Says:

Got yards in garbage time Sunday…records or not, got a long way to go to match Jimmie Giles…”simple as that”….

  24. Bucco brice Says:

    But, I like his potential….kid has talent…

  25. Jacko101 Says:

Ndog I’m a Buc and Buck fan too. I want Bosa next year 😉

  26. bucsbedabest Says:

Austin Seferian-Jenkins was thrown at 7 times and had 5 completions for 110 yards and 2 TD including the great juggling catch at the sideline. This was the kind of performance we have been waiting for from ASJ. The other positives were no dropped passes or fumbles. Most important of all ASJ had 2 broken tackles for positive yards after the catch. Last year ASJ had 0 broken tackles which was a concern for a man of his size. The only negative was his one penalty. The Bucs as a whole need to focus on improving on the number of penalties. Look for ASJ to continue with a strong game today vs the Aints!

  27. Jacko101 Says:

Next time don’t clap for he ball and drop it lol.
