History Suggests Improvement

July 27th, 2015
Recent history suggests a six-win season is a fair forecast for the Bucs.

Recent history suggests a six-win season is a fair forecast.

Joe rankles too many Bucs fans when stating a six-win season would show marked improvement for Tampa Bay.

That’s how bad this team was last year.

Fans of the squad, more often than not, want to hear about playoff runs, not rebuilding.

Joe understands this but Joe has to be real and honest. This Bucs team was hot garbage last year and way, way too many holes remain to soberly discuss the playoffs in 2015.

Will the Bucs be better? They should be. History tells us so, as the fingers of the Custodian of Canton, eye-RAH! Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune typed over the weekend while Twittering.

Well now, a 26-38 record is just shy of a 40 percent winning percentage. Going 6-10 is a winning percentage of 37 percent.

So Kaufman’s history lesson revealed about what Joe expects from the 2015 Bucs.

(For those wondering, Joe looked up the teams and QBs that represented Kaufman’s data. The winless 2008 Lions drafted Matthew Stafford and went 2-14 in 2009. The ’09 Rams were 1-15, and then went 7-9 the next year with Sam Bradford. In 2010, the Panthers were 2-14, and Cam Newton led them to a 6-10 record in ’11. Indianapolis won the rights to Andrew Luck with a 2-14 record in ’11. Luck was 11-5 as a rookie in ’12.)

History suggests improvement?…so does shear probability. It is really difficult to win only 3 to 4 games 32 tries. Not that I don’t think Lovie Smith is just incompetent enough to pull it off but it is simply really hard to do from a mathematics perspective.
Now this win prediction nonsense is the biggest tarot card/crystal ball bs going in football today. I simply do not understand the fascination with predicting the future and judging people on the results as if to suggest it was possible to be right or wrong from a knowledge of future events. Showing improvement, making playoffs is one thing but predicting win totals and judging one’s football knowledge based on that is definitely dumb and a waste of time.
I realize I am changing no minds in this matter so let the wisdom through clarevoyence thread commence!!!

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Time for another Lovie Confidence Poll…..

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

And how many of those teams fired the GM and Head coach!!!

Joe is right about 6 wins this year, ( you are counting preseason wins too right )

5-11 will make Lovie a career .500 coach this year!!!
4-12 will make Lovie a career Loser head coach!!!!

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

Yes, Joe, it is time for the Lovie Confidence Poll!!!

It is now the beginning of the season and we need to see where the Bucs fearless leader stands!!

  5. tdtb2015 Says:

    Oh yes!

Predictions and the God of HISTORY comes alive when there is nothing else to write about.

Thank the real God for toe to leather in the near future. I predict it will happen because history shows come August FOOTBALL is alive again. lol

  6. BuccaneEric75 Says:

I think 5 or 6 wins is about right. 7 or more and I’d be surprised. OL and DL will be huge factors. Along with decent QB play.

  7. Arealbucsfan Says:

    Pshh. We goin 8-8

  8. Joseph Mamma Says:

Why is this guys bar set so much lower than Greg Schiano, who was a college coach? We just realized how pathetic this team is? It’s absolutely ridiculous.

  9. Lou. Says:

The Bucs have been about a 5-win team for the last six years, on a moderate upswing (if that is possible). Think of the Chiefs in 2012 — an average team that fell through a pothole for one year and now is positioned to be a consistent contender to make the playoffs. (Of course, our ceiling was much lower),

The Bucs jettisoned talent in 2009 and so were worst in the league that year. 2010 was a mirage, an unsupportable anomaly. Our team underperformed the last two years on a statistical basis, but since they were pretty bad and became dreadful, that fact is hidden in noise.

The team has made some improvements and a simple reversion to the mean puts them at 6-7 wins. Anything of 8 or above would indicate a break above the trend line.

@Dallas: I agree that “crystal ball-gazing” is useless and not even entertaining. But statistical analysis is not. The Broncos have been successful for several years for a reason and it would be surprising for them to fall significantly this year. Could happen but unlikely. The Panthers are the class of the South– they could fail but an objective person would have to go with them until disproven. The Bucs are range-bound. It is up to them to prove the numbers wrong.

  10. DallasBuc Says:

    Lou- so we agree?

  11. ADown88 Says:

Call me insane, but I have a lot of faith in this team being capable of 8-10 wins THIS YEAR!

Our D-Line is going to surprise a lot of people, as I think J. Smith and G. Johnson are ready to be full time guys. Those two paired with McCoy, I could see 3 guys having 10+ sacks on the D-Line. Plus with a good rotation of Fatinikun, McDonald, Spence and Melton, we look pretty deep.

Out LB corp might be one of our strangest positions on the team. Hell, there are 4 guys I want on the field but we can only fit 3.

Banks and Verner were good last year, and should only get better in year 2 of the system. Sterling Moore was a fantastic pickup IMH, and should easily beat out L. Johnson for the nickel spot.

Safety is a little shaky, but McDougald could be a budding star, other guys will fight it out for the 2nd spot, and they all know the system.

As far as offense, it all comes down to the O-Line… If they can even just be an average group, we can be very potent, if not, Jameis and Douggie will struggle.

This plus a weak schedule give me optimism.

    Joseph Mamma

It’s FREE PASS Lovie. He does not get held to the same standards as anyone. I believe it’s because he is a nice guy. some of these fans would be happy with an 0-16 team as long of one of Dungy’s clones are in-charge running the tampa 2 with a team full of choirboys and mediocre local talent… It’s nothing but excuse after excuse for Lovie Smith.

    Miquel Grande

Your boy Lovie has done FAR more damage in one year than Schiano or Raheem did during their tenures. Lovie has wasted 31 million dollars on bust free agents. Lovie created 29 million in DEAD MONEY… Lovie blew up the oline without a plan last year… Lovie hung Arroyo out to dry last year instead of getting him a consultant or help. Lovie signed defensive free agents this year that look more like a M.A.S.H unit than a football team. Still no backup plan when MLB Carter goes down and he will History says so.. Same with Melton, Jenkins, Moore all of which are huge gambles on prove it deals… Yet time after time people say what a great job he did this year on upgrades. NOT ONE DEFENSIVE free agent is a clear upgrade period… Carter has never played MLB full time and he is always hurt and that is supposedly one of the most critical pieces to the tampa 2…

Oh and lets not forget the 2 of the most embarrassing loses in the history of the NFL… not just tampa but the entire League…

Lovie is the biggest problem and hurdle to wining this team faces period….

Lovie may turn it around 9-8 / 9-7 tease with a first playoff loss but that is all you will get from laughable lovie and his clown posse. All you can hope for from a mediocre coach who receives free pass after free pass. he can’t beat teams with a winning record and his 3-3 playoff record in 10 years of coaching is laughable…

but he is a nice guy and that hypocrite dungy likes him so all is good in the world. free pass lovie will do more damage this year…. can’t wait for the excuses to fly .. it will be everyone’s fault but his…

  13. tmaxcon Says:

    ^^^^ 8-8 / 9-7

  14. tmaxcon Says:

    ADown88

please explain to me how you can say the LB are one of the strongest units. have you done any research at all. Carter has never played MLB for a full season and is always hurt… No backup plan for when he gets hurt…. Kwon is a nice pickup but a rookie that also has not played extensively at MLB… These are the post that kill me… Not to mention that laughable lovie and his lapdog DC (sorry dallas it fits though) do not know how to use LVD

You clearly did not read Bonzi’s excellent breakdown off Lovie’s fragile free agent signings this off-season…

  15. DallasBuc Says:

tmaxcon- good stuff. I may have to bring back my “do-no-wrong Lovie Smith” moniker as we start a new season for the sake of all the homer LovieDovie apologists

  16. ADown88 Says:

Carter played in 28 games in the past 2 years… Sure he isn’t D. Brooks in terms durability, but he is hardly Mr. Glass. Lansanah was one of the few bright spots last year and David is one of the best there is. Carter had 5 picks last year in only 8 games started (13 played in) in the same system. With Kwon as a nice depth piece, I’d say we are looking good.

  17. Jeagan1999 Says:

I don’t see it. There are just too many holes on this team. We have a brand new offensive system (I like Koettter and think eventually he will be a great OC). We have a rookie QB, and history suggests they struggle more often than not. We have a very poor offensive line…and the team did little in the offseason to add any experienced players (only drafting a couple of rookies) to change this. Not to mention “?’s” at RB, TE, WR3, DE, and Safety. It just seems like too much to overcome so quickly. My guess would be a 4-12 or 5-11 season and another top 5-7 draft choice. I would also not rule out a HC change before 2016. Hope I’m wrong, but not I’m not overly optimistic.

  18. WS99 Says:

This Bucs team was hot garbage last year and way, way too many holes remain to soberly discuss the playoffs in 2015.
    ***************************
You’ve been hanging out with Dallas, realist, Tmax and 99 too long. Lmao.

    #hotgarbag’e

  19. WS99 Says:

    @tmax – it will be everyone’s fault but his…
    ********************
Yup, first and foremost it will be the fans fault.

I still believe Winston will succeed dispite Lovie and piss off the ‘old establishment’ in the process. I can’t wait!!!

  20. D-Rome Says:

6-10 would be a significant improvement. I’d take it.

  21. tmaxcon Says:

    WS99

I too believe that our savior Jameis Winston will succeed despite Lovie. However, that line scares the crap out of me… Only ONE starter on the entire line with little or no depth. The oline needs 4 starters right now… Hopefully Smith and Marpet will occupy 2 and that leaves replacements for the washed up never was EDS and the cripple formally known as 6 pack abs Mankins who has sucked for 2 plus years. say what you want about belicheat but he never hangs on to players too long. the bucs are just the opposite they hange on 5 years too long to each and every mistake….. myron lewis, sabby, cheesburger etc… the list is long and very undistinguished.

  22. Buccfan37 Says:

When fans trash Lovie I want to defend him, but I find it difficult, instead jabbing him myself. Few fans support a coach of their losing team even after one season. I initially was against hiring Lovie, thought the Bucs could do better at HC. It seemed like a desperation throwback move to pacify fans. Everybody wants to win now, obviously that is not the way it works as Buc fans know all too well. I’ll just keep waiting for the Bucs to win more than lose, got a lot of catching up to do.

  23. WS99 Says:

    Tmax

I watched Penn St vs Rutgers over the weekend. It was too easy for Smith. He looked like the Great Wall of China. He’s surprisingly fast too. I have high hope for him. Marpet idk I’m not sure if he feels that he’s ready yet. And I wouldn’t completely discount Allen (G) either. I like Allen let’s see if any of these guys have improved from last year. Finally the saddest part is that mankins is a disabled vet and is still the baddest man on that line, as of today. The dude eats nails for breakfast.

  24. tmaxcon Says:

    WS99

I like Allen as well that being said with Warhop coaching that line up I have Zero confidence after last years debacle. Even without a solid OC a veteran like Warhop should have held the fort down better than he did.

  25. ADown88 Says:

We also have guys like Pamphile and K. Edwards who are still at a wait and see approach. Not ideal, but who know, maybe one of them steps up and shines.

  26. tmaxcon Says:

    ADown88

I want to be as positive as you and truly respect yours and others optimism. I just can’t get past the facts and history when it comes to Lovie Smith coached teams. It’s all smoke and mirrors and the glazers and a percentage of fans have bought it all hook line and sinker. I am an old dude and very much would like to watch my bucs in a superbowl before I am worm dirt or fish food. (have not decided yet). I am frustrated that Lovie gets a free pass. I have friends and an office in Chicago that I spend some time at throughout the year so I saw first hand the slow painful death and destruction of that bears team / organization at the hands of Lovie. There is a reason that a 10 win coach was run out of town. His only back to back playoff appearances were in 05 and 06 10years ago and that was with a GM picking players, once Lovie ran him out of town and had control of personnel like he does with bucs he did nothing…. If people want a team that is 8-8 / 9-7 and 1 and done in the playoffs lovies your guy, if you want to contend for super bowls and division titles consistently Lovie is not the answer.

  27. DallasBuc Says:

LEAVE HIM ALONE! You are lucky he even coached for you BASTARDS!
    LEAVE LOVIE ALONE!

  28. tmaxcon Says:

will the real dallasbuc please stand up..

  29. The Buc Realist Says:

All we heard last year was how much Lovie has learned having spent the year in the “basement” how he has changed. I did not like the Lovie hire at all, But a couple of games in, it was obvious that lovie has changed nothing!!! all the talk about competition while gifting jobs for example.. And I do not even know why the media insists on talking and interview Lovie. All you get is excuses and double talk!!

    @Joe
How is the “Paper Bag Etiquette” stories coming??? some need to know when to bring and wear them? How do you drink beer with the paper bag??

  30. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Two things for certain here number 1 these post are still opinions. Number 2 and something more FACT. Lovie Smith is the head coach of the Tampa Buccaneers. And it pleases me that it bothers so many of you. God bless America and God bless Lovie Smith.

  31. ADown88 Says:

I think Lovie has learned a lot. I still believe in the Tampa 2, and he will be hands off as far as the offense goes. Lovie has always had good defenses, and just looking at Carolina, obviously the system can still work with the right people and a little time for understanding. Even people like Brooks said it would probably take a little time for players to learn, and looking at the 2nd half of the season (top 10 or 12 I think statistically), I think it’s working. Also, a couple scheme fit players like Carter should help. Foster was way to slow for the tampa 2.

  32. LakelandBuc Says:

Jimmie Johnson went 1-15 with the Cowboys, during his first season. The next season he went 7-9, i’m expecting the same from the Bucs. I don’t believe the Bucs were concern about winning last season, they get rid of their starting 0-Line except for Dotson, they get rid of Revis, they make Josh McCown their starting QB. All signs points to a much better season this year,I love the moves that they made this offseason.

  33. Fsuking Says:

The best thing about having Jameis on your team is watching him whip and watching him nae nae on defenses in the 4th quarter. Assuming “NFL games are won in the 4th quarter” is a true statement, I believe that Bucs + Jameis × nae nae = 10-6. Simple math really

  34. DallasBuc Says:

tmaxcon- I’m here man. That was just a stupid joke in reference to a rant that went viral a few years ago who I think a lot of these LovieDovie apologists sound like.
    “Leave Britney Alone”

  35. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Oops this should have gone on this thread…

    Summing up tmax and Dallas

Yes Lovie won 11 games or more THREE different seasons…30% of his career.

Yes Lovie made it to the Super Bowl with freaking Rex Grossman.

But all of that was PURE LUCK and Lovie deserves ZERO credit for ANY of that.

OTOH he and he alone is TOTALLY responsible for last year’s 2-14 record.

Am I the only one here who senses an unfair attack lacking in logic?

  36. Jeagan1999 Says:

@ LakelandBuc…I admire your optimism, but I don’t think you can draw any comparison between the Bucs and the 89’/90’Cowboys. The Cowboys went 1-15 in 1989 because they had a rookie QB named Troy Aikman who only completed 53% of his passes and threw 18 INTs vs. 9 TDs…the only game they won that year Aikman didn’t even play because he was benched with a broken finger. It was only in Aikman’s, and Johnson’s, second full season together that they managed to improve to 7-9…and selecting Emmitt Smith in the Draft that year certainly helped!

The fact that we have a rookie QB this year (and a hot mess of an O-line) cannot be overlooked! Troy Aikman turned out to be a fantastic QB, but his rookie year he was not good. Expect the same from Winston this season. This season is a complete rebuild…next season we can hope for a 7-9 type year, but this season…I’m afraid…will not be pretty!

  37. tickrdr Says:

In 2014, “Yes, but we were 4-12”, and proceeds to change everything.
But then after all those changes, we were 2-14??

    tickrdr

  38. WS99 Says:

Jimmy Johnson? Lmao that’s a good one man. Thanks for the laugh.

  39. DallasBuc Says:

StPete- there is no need for you to attempt to summarized other commentor’s opinions as it tends to lead to inaccuracies. People are free to read and comprehend for themselves.
Now, didn’t you and discuss all this incompetent Lovie Smith stuff in great detail last night in a different thread? In fact, I believe you conceded all my points and assumed we were in full agreement afterwards because you never responded. In summary, what Lovie did or did not accomplish with another organization has no bearing on what his performance with the Buccaneer organization is and he deserves to be judged harshly because of it.

  40. DallasBuc Says:

WS99- fellas love to peddle that ridiculous Jimmy Johnson comparison on here as if incompetent Lovie Smith is even in the same conversation with Johnson!!!
The man took a 4-12 football team and just barely won 2 games after making drastic “improvements” to the roster, coaching staff and front office. It is shocking that he even gets to see a second season here!

  41. tickrdr Says:

At this time last year, Lovie’s answer to practically EVERY question was ” Yes, but we were 4-12″. As I’ve asked or posted many times since then: Which players played better in 2014 than in 2013? Even some of our best players from 2014 had better years the year before.

    tickrdr

  42. tmaxcon Says:

    stpete

ok so he won 11 games 3 times how many division titles, how many super bowls…. again what you do in the playoffs is what matters and he is 3-3 in 10 years with only 1 back to back playoff appearance. pretty unimpressive when compared to actual good coaches like Jimmy Johnson, Belicheat, Coughlin etc… he had 1 good year in 10… Hell
Jim Harbaugh won 8 playoff games in 4 years and lovie has only appeared in 6 playoff games in 10 years… accept it your boy is an average to below average coach who will be under .500 for his career by season end and below both schiano and raheem on the all time bucs win list. raise your standards. Hell it’s a real possibility that Lovie is also behind the immortal Richard Williams and Leeman Bennett on the all time bucs coaching list…

wow that must be hard for you to swallow…

when they start throwing super bowl parades for top 10 defenses and average coaches I’ll jump on the lovie bandwagon with you.

  43. tmaxcon Says:

    ADown88

I have no problem with the tampa 2 but comparing Lovie’s passive style with Marinelli in dallas and Riverboat Ron in Carolina is not real accurate. Both of those guys call a much more aggressive style of defense than Lovie does. My biggest problem with Lovie’s defense is not all the points and first downs it gives up – it’s how passive he calls games. Lovie plays not to loose versus playing to win.

i get the entire bend don’t break philosophy that dungy preached however when it’s 3rd and 5 and your corners are lined up 12 yards off the receiver just give them the damn first down… time after time we saw that last year. lovie’s inability to adjust is what is going to send him back to the basement permanently. hopefully it’s sooner than later.

  44. WS99 Says:

I’m comparing Lovie to Mike Zimmer. The Vikings are my measuring stick and I’m not convinced Lovie can outperform Mr. Zimmer which is an absolute shame.

  45. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Thank God Lovie Smith is the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And Dallas I recall you stating last week you believe the Glazer Boys were part of the ruse to acquire Jamies. So which is it bro? Incompetence or a organizatinal ruse?

  46. DallasBuc Says:

Nole- you have me confused with someone else. I have never suggested any ruse. My contention has been very consistent if nothing else, that Lovie Smith has proven to be incompetent. Now what I have suggested is that this man’s rank incompetence in all likelihood led the Glazers to take the decision of who to choose with the first overall pick away from the man that earned that pick.
I find it strange how you thank god for having the worst HC in all of football.

  47. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I find it strange how you and your goon squad buddies wake everyday with this man on your minds. Ready and willing with a seemingly endless amount of energy bashing someone who is clearly relevant. Your disdain is clearly beyond the game of football,it’s easy to tell what your true issue is. Because of that issue I’ll reiterate how much I love the fact he is the head coach of this team. Thank God pal.

  48. tmaxcon Says:

    Nole

don’t bring race into this man… that is bs… you are better than that. you like Lovie and think he is the second coming and that’s fine but to bring race up because you like the guy and those of us who are vocal about the teams biggest problem which is Lovie Smith, well that’s ridiculous. You choose to give lovie a free pass and those of us who hold him accountable for his constant mistakes and condescending tone has nothing to do with his color or religion it has to do he has never won anything and he is destroying our favorite team.

  49. DallasBuc Says:

    tmaxcon- it’s disappointing

Nole- you pulling the race card out of thin air with zero evidence to support the charge is lazy and obscene. Furthermore, I make it a point to never criticize the man personally, keeping all of my issues with him on the professional level. It can’t be that he only led the Bucs to the worst record in all of football, barely winning 2 games. No, I critisize him because I’m a racist! Sad and disappointing man.

  50. Drew Says:

I travel to Chicago often and fans there speak highly of Lovie.

  51. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

You can call it what you wanna, this jbf right? We have a equal opportunity to express our opinions right. Don’t recall calling either of you a racist but like the saying gose if it fits wear it. But let me put it this way,I hear this rumbling about removing Lovie and replacing him with Koetter. My question to you all is why? Is Lovie the second coming who knows,he just drafted a Great One. I’ve read Lovie should be the DC and Koetter should head coach. What does these type of suggestions really mean? Now come on man,we’re all adults here. We gone seriously act like these notions don’t have a deeper darker sentiment. Really???

  52. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

tmax you say he’s never won anything, well it never gets much pub but his team represented the NFC in a superbowl. He won a conference championship. This man had 22 different starting QBs during his time in Chicago. Lets just say for sake of the discussion he had say Big Ben. Do you two really think he wouldn’t have won it all atleast once. C’mon man. With those defenses and that running game really.

  53. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

All I know is DallasBuc and Tmax I was waiting for you to bring out that”race card” is wrong and you didn’t disappoint. You guys rail on Lovie like he’s an imbocilic moron that can’t even tie his own shows. The man earned his job the old fashion way he moved up the ranks. You guys use the race card all the time you just hide it but most of the posters up here are clueless or think same as you.
I’ve been around your kind most of my life and can recognize you fairly quickly and I’m not even black. Your kind are the ones who made race a huge part of the NFL for the longest time but now you get upset when other people bring it up. You talk about Smiths record like that is reason but Tony Dungy won a Super Bowl and one of you called him a hypocrite but of course we all know what you will say about that.TampaTony now that dude might as well come out and call Smith a dirty n word the way he villifies him without any football talk of any kind. This is America and of course we all have the right to our opinions and since you guys fling your opinions around here like cow flop don’t tell anyone what they can’t post. Race is American as apple pie. It’s obvious even if he wins the Bowl this year you won’t give him any credit and will do exactly what you accuse his supporters of, making excuses why he deserves no credit. You’re getting what you asked for from Nole and me. I make no excuses for Lovie because I’m not blind to his short comings but the man is not the imbocile you make him out to be.

  54. DallasBuc Says:

Davidlittle & Nole- you two have stooped quite low today. Leveling a charge of racism with absolutely zero evidence is ignorant, devisive and shows a clear inability to have an honest civil disagreement with someone. If you don’t like that I criticize incompetent Lovie Smith for barely winning 2 games in an entire season then fine, enjoy your bad coach but to make sht up and throw in racism is really sad. I never told you what you can and can’t post…making sht up. I never called Lovie an imbecile…making sht up. I never once brought up his skin color as that was all you…making sht up. I don’t harbor racist resentment toward Lovie, I just prefer that he won more than 2 games and made better decisions…making sht up by pretending to know what is in another man’s heart. That is so presumptuous, arrogant and insidious.
Hate to tell you but it is possible to not like quality and performance of a man’s work based on merit without it being influenced by skin color. Consider developing your thoughts intellectually instead of nurturing your guilty and fearfully ignorant impulses.

  55. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

It’s not stooping low it’s called calling it like I see it. 60 years ago people could wear their hatred on their sleeve now it has to be hidden. I sat up here long enough simply reading posts seeing the pattern you guys have set. It’s apparent you will never give Lovie credit ever. He coached a team with not a very good qb or oc to the super bowl. I’m sorry in my book that does not make him incompetent. The fact he used our qb coach as the oc instead of getting one to at least run the offense shows that he and Licht already planned to get Jameis.

  56. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

I love how peoples feelings get so hurt when certain things are leveled their way. Nice use of words to display your vocabulary. I call it like I see it. I sat back a read posts and I see how it is. The fact that you call him incompetent even though he coached a not great Bears team to the super bowl means you are calling him an imbocile. The fact that he AND Licht chose to use Arroyo instead getting an oc at least with some experience shows it was their plan to get Jameis from the jump. There’s no way that would happened with out the Glazers being on board. He pretty much let the chips fall how they fell. You use this and that stat to prove your point but refuse to use everything for a complete picture of Smiths coaching career. The f/a that they signed that were busts were the best to get at that time so that happens to any coach. Grudens last year here proved that even if you have good coaching if the players can’t or won’t play well then you won’t win. Lovie is not the bad coach you guys make him out to be nor is he the 2nd coming.

  57. DavidbigBucsFan Says:

Hey Nole, two reasons not to bring God into these discussions 1) He doesn’t care about football or the NFL just that each and every person here and around the world comes to repentance and His people do His will and Keep His commands. He says don’t conform to the pattern of this world and football is surely a pattern of this world! 2) Just like race it gets a lot of peoples boxers in a bunch because ‘this is a football forum dagnabbit!’ Wink wink. The funny thing is some who do believe in God will still get upset when the topic is brought up here or anywhere outside of church. I guess people want freedom from religion.

Davidlittle- calling it like you see it?…because racism is hidden and you have the unique powers of perception to see hidden things like the nature of a man’s heart who you never met? Could be but based on your inability to make a cogent arguement to support your position that Lovie is not incompetent you feel the need to call racism to distract and obfuscate. Oh sorry, is my vocabulary making you feel anxious again. See I use words to convey a clear meaning in order to support my position. You throw out charged language to distract and confuse your arguement because deep down you realize that your position is weak based on it’s merits and you can get away with baseless charges of racism. This makes you a coward. It also goes to show that Dumig is right about one thing, people do see what they want to see. Don’t assume that you hurt my feelings. You are losing this arguement and pulling the race card like a life preserver. If anything you are hurting Lovie Smith and minorities generally because a debate based on their professional record is not allowed to be had without your race assist. Now I’ve explained ad nauseum the reasons why I think Lovie Smith is incompetent and why I discount the work he did with a previous organization. If you truly did sit back for a while and read my previous comments then you would not be throwing out flimsy sht like Rex Grossman and past success. So I am going to assume that you are also not the kind of person that is much used to telling the truth which comports with someone that would call someone a racist without a shred of evidence to support it. Take your ball and go home old man. This can go on as long as you want and I think it’s time for you to soak your dentures while you take your mid morning nap.

Say what you want, we did not have an OC last year and arroyo trying to call plays was a joke. With dirk we at least have some sort of offense and game plans. The defense was not that bad and most of our losses were by one score. I believe this team will be alot better this season and looking for at least 8 wins.
