Jameis Gets New Mate; Koenen Gets Fire

June 10th, 2015

Jameis WinstonJoe can’t decide what’s more interesting: Jameis Winston getting a new locker room neighbor or punter Michael Koenen having a fire lit under his ass.

Both of these things went down yesterday.

Joe has little interest in the punting game until real games begin. But Joe does know Koenen arguably was the NFL’s worst punter in 2014. So he earned competition for his gig.

Yesterday, the Bucs claimed the Browns’ top punter in 2014, Spencer Lanning, a guy who spent a little time under Lovie Smith in Chicago but didn’t stick with the Bears.

The move booted punter Andy Wilder from the Tampa Bay roster. That’s the guy whose locker was next to Jameis’, evidence the Bucs didn’t think Jameis needed a savvy veteran babysitter.

On second thought, Joe has decided the loss of Jameis’ locker room neighbor is much more thought-provoking than a battle for the punting gig.

Who will move in next to Jameis? Perhaps the Bucs will try to force harmony and peace and stick center Evan Rookie-Sour Smith in there on a short-term lease.

Not that it really matters much in the scheme of things, but I wonder why players locker assignments are not grouped by their respective positions?

Noooo on Evan Smith!! That guy is an idiot with a bad attitude. The only time i want Jameis spending with him is in practice

I refuse to believe that the a man who could coffin kick at will suddenly loses this ability unless he injured or told to punt short to prevent returns.

Koenen was one of the biggest WTFs last year. He went from being one of the best in the NFL at changing field position to absolute garbage. Interested to see if there was any truth to the stories last year of coaches getting in his head or if maybe he was injured. Either way, hopefully this kid pushes him back into form or just out performs him. Either way an improved punt game is a must.

Winston…Wilder…sounds like the locker room was set up alphabetically.
