Evan Smith Not A Fan Of Rookies

May 11th, 2015

Bucs center Evan Smith sure didn’t seem happy fielding questions about America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston.

Formerly Evan Dietrich-Smith (he just goes by “Smith” these days, saying “Dietrich” was a “pain in my [arse]”) sure doesn’t seem to like rookies. Or at least talk about rookies.

The subject at One Buc Palace is all about America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston. And most players and coaches are quite happy to talk about Jameis. At least, those that haven’t recently changed their last names.

Smith, the incumbent starting center, was asked today about Jameis like just about everyone at One Buc Palace. It seemed clear Smith either didn’t want to talk about Jameis, or simply has the old school mentality that rookies should be seen and not heard.

Smith noted Mike Glennon is the starter (currently) and refused to even address Jameis by name — only used the pronoun “he” when referring to Jameis.

Smith wasn’t bashing Jameis, saying he was “excited to have him in the building.” Smith actually had a few compliments about Jameis and then Smith dropped this:

“We have plenty of leaders on this team, plenty of leaders in this locker room. … We’ve got guys who lead on this team. We’ve got guys who can play football. … [Jameis] has to learn how we do things around here. … You have to fall into the Bucs way. Follow the older guys. Guys have been doing this for a while. We know what to do.”

Um, kay.

Look it man, Jameis is on the roster — and barring injury, will start when the regular season kicks off — because you and your teammates stunk out loud last year.

Horribly so. This just in Smith: You lost 14 games last year. This just in Smith: You and your fellow offensive linemen gave up a grotesque 52 sacks. There is zero reason to be haughty or cop some veteran attitude.

Just a hunch, but the last thing Jameis needs to learn is to be a Buc. Because for five of the last six years, being a Buc has been synonymous with losing.

General manager Jason Licht and coach Lovie Smith are trying to change the culture around here, not continue the same old slop losing week after week. Jameis has lost five games in his life.

If anything, Smith, you need to learn how to be more like Jameis. Joe sort of gets Smith probably was trying to say Jameis needs learn to be a pro. Well, duh. How many coaches have stated that obvious fact the past week? What rookie doesn’t? The thing is, Smith came across as condescending.

Joe remembers Gerald McCoy telling him a couple of years ago he doesn’t look down on rookies and never will. Joe is paraphrasing here, but GMC told Joe that if a guy is on the roster, then that’s because coaches and the general manager think he can help the team win, regardless of seniority. Therefore, GMC said, he will do whatever he can to help the guy out.

Joe remembers when Licht drafted Division-III offensive lineman Ali Marpet in the second round. Licht mentioned he could also play center. Joe is guessing that was not a slip of the tongue.

  1. canadian bucsfan Says:

I’m not a fan of centers rolling the ball to the QB

  2. JoeJoes Fungi Nails Says:

rookies are clueless as to what is happening before their eyes….and it is over before they realize what just happened to them….OL is a unit…not like RB or WR that can recover abit as the play unfolds…so yeah I can see why any vet on the offensive side is not loking forward to playing with rookie QB and OLmen….including Jamesi

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

I wish that Joe would have gotten this snippy with past GM’s , Coaches and all others that have been failures with the Bucs.

  4. Buc1987 Says:

“because you and your teammates stunk out loud last year.”

Joe this right here about sums up my response as well.

I mean give me a break. He was one of the worst ones on the line.

  5. Captain Doom Says:

the only thing worse than this guys attitude is his play on the field.

at least Mankins keeps his pie hole shut like anyone from last years O line should.

would not be surprised if EDS does not make the roster.

when there’s a cancer in the locker room it has to be removed, and this guy has been the most obvious when it comes to being unhappy.

GB didn’t miss a beat without him. He’ll let that alligator mouth lead him straight to the unemployment line.

  6. INDYbucsfan Says:

I’m going to laugh if Marpet takes over as center before the season starts.

  7. Rrsrq Says:

Not taking the bait Joe, this better not be the Michael Johnson Act, part deux, I think he is just playing the vet role, maybe feelings are a lil hurt, Bucs brought in the lineman from the Raiders for a visit. But let’s hope he is a professional and earn those millions

  8. Eric Says:

If they know what to do they did a remarkable job of hiding it last season.

    Led us right to 2-14.

Ill bet Mr. Lovie Smith is no impressed with this remark at all.

  9. Andrew 1 Says:

“There is zero reason to be haughty or cop some veteran attitude.” “The thing is, to Joe, Smith came across as condescending.”

You’re right Joe, and it shouldn’t be tolerated. This guy is quickly becoming disliked among bucs fans. He needs to quit while he is ahead and shut his freakin mouth and go practice blocking somebody for a change.

This is the tough part for me. Should Jameis follow the current “leaders” (yea the ones that lead us to a whopping 2-14 record. Way to lead) Or should he impose his own leadership right out the gate and hope that they follow. There are pros and cons to both ways so I really don’t have an answer, but I sure hope Winston can figure it out.

  10. Blackbeards Ghost Says:

Somehow I missed hearing about Evan Smith’s probowl invitation. And from the look of his stomach, he should layoff the hambergers, maybe switch to crablegs! Less calories and with the right contacts, they’re a lot cheaper.

  11. JoeJoes Fungi Nails Says:

Maybe Smith is smart enough to get out of here….it is going to be another long frustrating season…

  12. SteveK Says:

    Evan Smith,

Please leave, and do not come back to Tampa Bay. I lost ALL FAITH in YOUR ABILITY TO SNAP A FOOTBALL when you continually misfired snaps all year long. My breaking point was hearing you blame a “bad spot of turf” indoors, in Detroit- Ford Field, for a bad snap.

Apparently, we need all of the rookies we can get, just to SHOW YOU HOW TO SNAP A FOOTBALL.

Ps. Garrett Gilkey is coming for your job!

  13. Captain Doom Says:

i don’t see jameis and this guy getting along at all….

    who wins that battle? hmmmmm

a schmuck who bowls the ball and complains or a shiny new 1st round QB.

even 87 can figure that one out.

  14. KJ Says:

He was the worst center in football last year. Jameis doesnt’ have to “fall in line” with anything he did last year. Evan got a fat contract and then stunk up the joint. Start Marpet at center at see if you can’t get a 7th rounder for this joker. This is Jameis’s team now buddy, either fall in line or pack your bags.

  15. Ray Rice Says:

That weak MF needs to worry about his job. He’s going to be all over Jameis’ jock when he starts making that $orry a$$ OL look good. WTF has he done to even consider himself a leader or even good enough to act like a Pro Bowler veteran. If I was Jameis I wouldn’t call him by his name either, then I would proceed to put a picture of Suh in his locker.

  16. Another J Says:

He sounds worried about a Rookie taking his job…

  17. WS99 Says:

    Joe

I wanted to biatchslap eds thru this screen. We have plenty of leaders? Really. learn how to be a buc? HELL NO PLEASE DONT!!

How about you STFU and either follow Americas QB or just quit. No one wants or needs your soft ass, can’t hike a ball, can’t block, getting stomped on poussy a$$ here anyway. That’s why GB replaced you with a rookie, you lame as Biatch, and didn’t skip a beat.

    YOU FCKN SUCK EDS!!! STFU!!!!

  18. PanthersSuck! Says:

The Bucs way is a losing way. Next comment please

  19. Cannon Says:

“You have to fall into the Bucs way. Follow the older guys. Guys have been doing this for a while. We know what to do.”

    lol…

  20. WS99 Says:

And GMC you on notice too!

It’s a new day in TB if you haven’t figured it out yet!!!!

  21. tval Says:

These 2 will become fast friends when theyre first exposed to one another. He should just call up b stork, be a man, instead of acting like a petulant school child..over/under how many days into camp before ole evster jumps the jameis bandwagon? 2? Just to make it fun..lol!!

  22. SoonerinTampa Says:

America’s Quarterback is beyond stupid…quite sickening even. What is his record as an NFL QB?

  23. erikISNTsoWISEman Says:

  24. Peter Griffin Says:

you know what really grinds my gears? EDS.

  25. tmaxcon Says:

So, I am now convinced that Mariota Joe is Evan Smith. I have always thought Barry was Glennon but it’s all starting to become clearer to me…

This fool needs to learn how to play and leave the manly bullspit to real men. He was beyond horrible last year. if it was not for the fact that “Stick the fork in em he is done” Mankins being equally as bad this joker would have been exposed even more. just a bitter fool waiting for his replacement.

but it is all very clear now. Maritoa Joe and Barry’s plan… please don’t stop though, I enjoy the daily laughs. I even call over some of my employees for a good laugh every now and then. We have a 4 foot x 6 foot #BarryStealsCars banner hanging in our art-room as a tribute to the falsely accused worldwide.

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

I don’t think that’s what he’s really saying. EDS’ play aside, no ONE player is greater than the team. A lot of you need to pump the brakes a little. Without one you can’t have the other. It will be a team effort that brings back winning. Just like everybody else, you have to earn it, Jameis incuded.

  27. JoeJoes Fungi Nails Says:

I think has found his rabbit to get the attention off Jamesi

  28. Bucsfanman Says:

Maybe it’s because Jameis hasn’t even played a down and we’ve christened him “America’s quarterback”!

  29. LargoBuc Says:

Evan Smith needs to pipe down and do work. If we had the means, Smith would be outa here. He needs to be greatful that he is even on an NFL roster. If any one has something to prove this summer, its Evan Smith. Step up. Lead by example. Help the young guard next to you excell (be it Marpet or Omahmeh) and be a reason why this team turns it around. Otherwise you will be gone for a seventh round pick, if lucky.

  30. cc2015 Says:

Bart Starr is Americas quarterback. Jameis hasn’t even played a down. Get real.

  31. Phil Says:

Evan Smith better get used to the fact that there’s a new sheriff in town and his name is Jameis. And the leaders we had on the team last year leaded us to a 2-14 season. So my advise to Evan is when Jameis talks he better listen or Evan wont be around very long. Jameis is a winner and if Evan wants to be a winner also he should shut up and follow Jameis.

  32. THETRUTH Says:

Winston is not claiming to to be leaderof team (yet) he actually said there are other leaders on team he will learn from and ear his place. MEDIA is making him leader, he has the character to lead and will eventually.

This center should lead by saying don’t do things the way we do, cause we sucked 2-14.. keep doing the same and we will have top player in draft next year.
Hey Smith, this is your best chance to win, that is if you block and place it where he can catch it.

  33. INDYbucsfan Says:

Man after watching his interview,, it seems like the words were taken out of context. I didn’t get the sense that smith was being condesending At all.

  34. Ben the GA Buc Says:

Sooner in Tampa, you must be new to some of the hyperbole Joe employs regularly. Sorry it hasn’t worked out for Sam Bradford in the NFL yet. Maybe his ligaments will stay in one piece for us to find out if it will.

  35. tmaxcon Says:

    cc2015

90% of the people hear have no clue who bart starr is nor were born when he played. Starr a legend no doubt but not really relevant today. That is horrible to hear, I get it but sorry the title has changed hands the future is now and America’s Quarterback is Mr. Jameis Winston #3 with the Buccaneers. Winston to Evans…

  36. Clodhopper Says:

This guy. WTF is the deal with this guy? He seems like the type of guy that drives through the city in big souped up four wheel drive truck with a 4″ lift kit and fancy paint job…. In the city. Aka: tiny prick. He talks like a dude with a small dick.
Remember. Hikes the shotgun to the Qbs knees… every time. Rolls the ball in a shotgun because there was a sticky spot on the field. Then says the asinine thing like “I did my job.”

I will refer to this loser as EDS until he EARNS the respect to take the time to change his dumb name on my mind.

I apologize if I repeated something some one said but I couldn’t wait to sound off. Eff this guy and his crap attitude.

  37. grafikdetail Says:

@Bucsfanman i agree but it’s not what you say but how you say it…and it came off a little condescending… Danny Lansanah said something very similar to EDS before the draft & they picked up his replacement in the 4th round… won’t be surprised if they find EDS replacement in the June 1st salary cap casualty cuts

  38. Stanglassman Says:

Watch the whole statements and judge for yourselves. I don’t think what he said was that bad.

  39. Yeah It's me! Says:

Once he see’s Jameis play in a real NFL game, or before he will change his attitude some. Jameis will be respectful and humble (serving his teammates) and Jameis is already 10 times better than Glennon or McCown ( i know , he has’nt even played an NFL game yet, he’s still better) so i think Smith will be fine.

  40. JabooBuc Says:

What’s great about Jameis is that he will win over the line or he will call their ass out. He is the alpha dog and he knows what he is doing. If he rolls the ball back to Jameis, then Jameis will let him know he better get it corrected or head to the bench. Pretty sure the Bucs brass knew Marcus would need a lot longer to feel comfortable taking charge.

  41. Andrew 1 Says:

Wow. Just watched the interview and I agree with Bucsfanman, he did not come off as “condescending”. He does make it known that Winston will have to fit in, but If anything it seemed like he was trying to take the pressure off Winston having to be a leader right off the bat. In fact, the very next question he answers after what’s being quoted by Joe, he says ” He will rise through the ranks as the year goes on”. Wouldn’t expect him to say that if he’s trying keep the guy under the current bucs leadership.

  42. cc2015 Says:

Why don’t we call Jameis “Americas rookie”
You can’t strip Bart Starr of his title. That’s not fair to Mr Starr nor is it fair to Mr Winston .

  43. 1SadBucFan87 Says:

“[Jameis] has to learn how we do things around here.”

Yeah we saw how you’ll did things last year. All I can say to that is no thank you.

  44. Warrenfb12 Says:

Evan smith is a joke. He should have been cut along with Collins. Zero credibility. STFU this is the jameis Winston show, the “buc way” I have been watching for the past decade is clearly not working…

  45. Mariota Joe Says:

Once again JBF, PLEASE cease and desist with the STUPID “America’s quarterback” crap. He’s slow, he’s fat, he’s a disaster off the field, and you’re trying to make him into The Greatest Quarterback On Earth. Oh, and yeah….all you NFL veterans, forget your leadership roles, because if you listen to JBF, you’re ALL secondary to Infamous. Infamous…the Great Divider among Buc fans….and now the Great Divider among teammates. Classy. This is going to be “As The OneBucPlace Turns”…….lawsuits….stupidity…..interceptions….sacks (maybe even O-linemen doing the “oops, I missed a block” stuff). America’s Quarterback?? Nah……more like America’s Lawyers’ Best Client and Defendant. Btw, I haven’t seen any Infamous jerseys out in public yet. Not a one.

  46. Rrsrq Says:

    @IndyBucsfan,

Watching the interview, I didn’t get that either. Either taken out of context or stirring the pot

  47. tbfan Says:

Where did this “America’s Quarterback” crap com from? At least let Winston take a snap in a NFL game before giving him all this hype. I think the fact that Winston played at FSU has some people over estimating how the rest of the country views Winston. He was a great college player but that means nothing in the NFL. I understand Bucs Bucs fans are desperate for a franchise QB but how about we temper all these high expectations until he actually gets on the field.

  48. cc2015 Says:

What about Bart Starr, roger staubach, johnny unitas , Joe Namath, troy aikman, tom Brady, Peyton manning, eli manning, Ben roethlisberger, etc… All are or were NFL superstar qbs, and Winston is a rookie draft pick yet to play even a pre season game… This Americas quarterback stuff is nonsense…

Americas rookie is more fitting… This is a case of “Head-up-arse” syndrome… Let him play first before we crown him king… This is a team sport not a qb only sport… I hope he’s good yes, but get off your knees and wipe off your lips… You disgust me!

  49. cc2015 Says:

    Google: Americas Quarterback

    Jameis Winston nowhere in sight

  50. TheShaz Says:

I will cut Smith some slack. At least until training camp and the preseason starts.

I am excited about Jameis. Joe is excited about Jameis. Some Mariota & Glennon fans are still sore.

But in the Rookie camp one thing was painfully obvious. Every player interviewed got nagged about Jameis. Interview was not about them or about the team in general, it was about 1 person not IN the interview. Now the rookies, being rookies are happy to take the questions about Jameis, because they are just happy to be in the NFL.

But a veteran player will tire quickly of Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis, Jameis at every interview.

This will be a hurtle the young player will have to overcome. I think he will because of his talent and work ethic, but because he just got to the team, the veteran players don’t see and know that side.

I expect more replies like this from veteran players, even the ones we still would like to keep on the team. The kid will either rock em’ or get rolled over by them.

  51. cc2015 Says:

I’d rather call Tom Brady Americas Quarterback… At least the colors and Superbowl match the hype… And he was a 6th rounder!

  52. Clodhopper Says:

Lol at “America’s Quarterback” haters. Like a bear to honey. You just gobble up the bait. It’s just fun. That’s it. Fun.

  53. cc2015 Says:

    *Superbowlsssss

  54. cc2015 Says:

It is kinda funny… That you would talk smack about an experienced NFL center, but crown a zero game experience rookie. Head up arse syndrome in full effect

  55. tmaxcon Says:

Long Live Jameis Winston Americas Quaterback… Now and the Future!

  56. WalkdaPlank Says:

You guys don’t get it, you getting all worked up about Joe creaming his pants every time he calls Jameis “America’s Quarterback” is only going to get him to say it more. The Joes and Winstonites are loving this, being right about the draft and finally having “their guy”. I don’t really care. Let Jameis be Jameis, can’t wait to see him in some real action, and hopefully lead us to some wins.

As for the “America’s Quarterback” foolishness, who cares? The only people who call him that are Joes and the Winstonites. Let them make themselves look silly all they want.

  57. MTM Says:

OK here is where I defend Winston. Smith claiming there are “leaders” on this team and we have a certain way of doing things. Smith don’t get to high and mighty. Your way of doing things landed the Buc’s the number 1 draft pick. That’s a back handed way of saying your way sucks!!

  58. Nick Says:

This clown keeps saying we got this, we have leadership on this team. What a joke, a team with leadership don’t go 2-14.

Sit back Evan and let the rookies show you the way !

  59. iamkingsu Says:

What’s our record over the past few years?? Everyone in that locker room need to shut the hell up and listen to America’s quarterback! There’s a new sheriff in town so get in line!

  60. cover deuce Says:

What was it someone smart once said about throwing stones in glass houses? This guy better watch his back, ’cause a rook just might end up taking his job sooner rather than later.

  61. BuccaneEric Says:

Mariota Joe, I’m going to say this the nicest way I can because I can see that your a passionate fan: FUT THE SHUCK UP AND GO ROOT FOR THE TITANS! That feels better

  62. P'cola Buc Says:

ES is one of the least talented Bucs on our roster. If he “leads” this oline like he did last year he will be a “second stringer” and be eventually replaced by one of those rookies he seems to be so condescending about (Ali Marpet). Hey EDS how about acting like a professional veteran and encourage the young talent while leading by example? Jealousy and inferior play is what you are showing Buc fans now. The biggest thing you have done since you got here was dropping your middle name. We expect more from you. Start showing something on the field to gain OUR respect.

  63. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

@walkdaplank he may not be America’s QB (yet) but he is Tampa’s.

  64. BuccaneEric Says:

Maybe EDS thinks the MG patch on his jersey stands for Mike Glennon!

  65. pick6 Says:

wow, this from the guy who snapped the ball (or didn’t snap the ball, depending on the play) like a rookie multiple times last year. if being a buc means being wildly inconsistent at your primary job like EDS (give the ball to the QB when he tells you to), then lets hope nobody we added this year follows the Buccaneer Way

  66. Johnny Says:

    good post Joe.

  67. Yaboymc Says:

    Didnt you get stomped on?

  68. jb Says:

I’ll tell ya, some of these fools on this team better cut the “We have a LockerRoom full of Leaders” crappola! These so called leaders aren’t worth following. I’m a bit concerned that this team is beyond help. Somebody needs to get in there and start breaking heads! Last week it was Lansanah, this week it’s Marlena Deitrich-Smith! Both who can easily be replaced. I say ship ’em the hell outta Tampa tonight!

  69. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

America’s QB sounds good to me. What’s all the fuss for. America’s QB=WINSton baby.

  70. grafikdetail Says:

after watching the video of EDS and hearing everything he said in context…he was absolutely right!!!

  71. WS99 Says:

We have ONLY one leader on this team, LVD and he’s got one foot out the door.

EVERYBODY and I mean EVERYBODY needs to STFU. Lead, follow or get tf out the way.

  72. I HATE ALL OF THE MARIOTA JOCK SNIFFERS Says:

99, what about VJax and McCoy as leaders?

  73. WS99 Says:

I was going to say vjax but held back. And if you asking me about gmc you obviously don’t know me too well.

The ice cream man needs to stfu too and start playing like a 100m man.

The only ones allowed to speak are AMERICA’s QB, LVD, Hardy Nickerson and Koetter. That’s it!!!

  74. WS99 Says:

Mike Evans can speak too but that’s it.

  75. Kevin Says:

Yeah great attitude douche bag. This guy is standing up there like…hmph…how dare you ask me about a damn rookie!!! These kids don’t know crap!!!

Although I do think having cuter and some continuity will help the O line….they still sucked last year. I’d say this guy needs to go back and watch some tape on himself. If he doesn’t drop that attitude I’d be cutting his ass if it’s not gone by the end of pre-season.

  76. teebeefan Says:

    Trolling again, Joe?

  77. JabooBuc Says:

Mariota Joe: ESPN was running the FSU/Oregon game again this afternoon so I sat down and watched it for probably the 4th or 5th time. I’f you can watch that game and conclude that Mariota is the better QB and is not the product of s system than I would argue you simply don’t know football. That game was tight into the 3rd Q and if not for the turnovers by Cook which completely gassed FSUs defense, that game was going to be in the hands of Jameis.

  78. Buc1987 Says:

I miss Meth Mike calling me every name he can think of for telling him that Winston was going to be the pick.

    Good times! 🙂

  79. SteveK Says:

    Joe,

    Great, necessary piece!

Reading EDS’ article today genuinely pissed me off. More than 2-14, or 30-70 pissed off. The kind of pissed off Josh Freeman made me in 2013, when he quit on the team, leaked medical records, and did his best to torpedo the Buccaneer pirate ship. It’s one thing to have substance problems, or to genuinely not give enough Fuks to make a sh!t, but to quit and try to make somebody look bad is like blaming a bad snap on artificial turf. STFU and win some damn games, and not get your butt kicked.

    Evan Smith, please step up.

  80. SteveK Says:

    1987,

You think Winston will call out his line of they SUCK?

    EDS sucked bad last year.

No OC, ok, NO EXCUSES IN 2015.

Can we get a Buccaneer with 10
Sacks in a season, for the first time since Simeon Rice? Recent history suggests it’s going to be 10 years in a row without a Buccaneer gaining 10 sacks, effing sad.

  81. WS99 Says:

    Stevek

Good for you cuz he pissed me off too. As for 10 sacks our best bet is if Jared Allen or Julius peppers get cut but that’s not happening.

  82. You Go Joe Says:

    http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap3000000397039/Evan-Dietrich-Smith-s-cheeky-fumble

Oh ES, please don’t come with this attitude. Jamies learns from you the boy might as well get in trouble with the law.

  83. Buc1987 Says:

    SteveK Says:
    May 11th, 2015 at 8:32 pm

    “1987,

You think Winston will call out his line of they SUCK?”

    YES…yes I do.

It’s called SWAGGER baby, only Bucs fans forgot what it looks like!

  84. BuccaneEric Says:

99, ok, I get it about McCoy. Your right though , we probably should have included Evans.

  85. Desanova Says:

“how we do things around here” – please, anything but…

  86. Buc1987 Says:

It’s the return of Meth Mike again. He continues to be wrong, time and time again.

The thing that makes him so methed out is his repetitive nonsense. Which proves him wrong and will prove him wrong again….but he’ll continue all methed out while posting and acting like a fool to be wrong again, and again and again.

He’s like robert 9’s drugged out little step brother or something…

  87. Mariota Joe Says:

Jaboo Buc…..not only is Mariota a better QB and athlete….he’s a better MAN…..PERIOD. But we’re stuck with the ahole now. Don’t look for things to get better. It’s a pipe dream and a huge ass mistake.

  88. WS99 Says:

    Mariota Joe

What are you going to say/do when Winston wins his counter-suit?

  89. Buc1987 Says:

What will you say when Winston destroys the Titans and your mighty Mariotoe?

  90. WS99 Says:

I don’t see Mariota visiting schools or talking to kids. On the contrary, he said he used to get in trouble at home for being “overly competitive” with his little brother. To me that translates as “bullying” his little brother unlike Winston who worships his little brother. Bigger man?

I don’t see Mariota with a smoking hot girlfriend who he’s been with for years, who stuck with him through thick and thin. An educated women who catches passes better than Robert Herron and is fine as wine. Better man?

I also don’t see him being followed (in real life) by a gang of first round draft picks, HOFs and NFL greats in general. Better man?

Finally, I most certainly DO NOT see any of Jameis’s teammates hanging their heads in shame, distraught, at the thought of playing with him. Other than Evan Smith (and gmc I’m sure), it’s all smiles around OBP.

We got the better man and QB, the Titans got the better slot receiver.

“We got the better man and QB, the Titans got the better slot receiver.”

    Amen to that my brother!

  92. CHUCKY #1 Says:

  93. WS99 Says:

Don’t go too far away haters. Jameis needs you as fuel.

  94. Bucamania Says:

Let me list the leaders on this team. VJax, Evans, LVD, and McCoy. There’s no EDS. No one is listening to an overrated C who can’t even snap a freaking football.

It’s Winston’s team now. Shape up or ship out mr. softee.

  95. dave Says:

get this guy the hell out of the locker room. attitudes like this is what keeps a team losing. im sick of hearing about “the bucs way”. what is the bucs way? evan smith has been here for one full year! if theres anyone for jameis to learn from its mccoy, david, jackson, and mankins. veterans should be 100% on board with winston and lead with him, he’s lost 1 game in hes ncaa career! $@%& the bucs way been losing way too long with attitudes like that

  96. Evan Dietrich-Smith Has Interesting Advice For Jameis Winston Says:

[…] to JoeBucsFan.com, when Winston’s name was brought up to Smith on Monday, he had some interesting advice for […]

  97. Mord Says:

You Go Joe, that is the perfect video comment, but here it is in handy, looping animated gif form (sorry to the Joes for link-debris)

  98. JabooBuc Says:

Hey Mariota Joe: pretty sure you don’t know either of these guys personally so why don’t you reserve judgement for what happens on the field. By the way, there are a lot of great athletes that arent worth a damn as a QB.

Also, did you get a chance to read the counter suit yet? You really should take a long hard look. Your basis for calling him an ahole is looking incredibly weak at the moment.

  99. BuccaneEric Says:

Mord, I like how he snaps the ball to his A$$ and starts to block like everything’s cool!!! Pu$$y as Beeotch

  100. BucFan20 Says:

Like a bunch of little girls. Grow up.

  101. WalkdaPlank Says:

I am a Mariota guy through and through. But I hope he has the worst game of his life on Opening Day. He will be playing the BUCS. I like him, but I hope he throws 3 INT’s and has GMC helping him up off his ass all day long.

  102. BuccaneEric Says:

Support the team! MARIOTA IS A TITAN. Get over it. You fake A$$ fans are a waste of my time. I like having conversations with Bucs fans, not people who hope we lose so Jameis looks like a bad pick. PHUCK ALL OF YOU FAKE FANS. it’s ok if you don’t like Winston, but none of the bad mouthing will change the pick! You don’t have to like Jameis, but don’t let that make you root for us to lose. We don’t need you! GO BUCS AND REAL BUCS FANS!!!

  103. BuccaneEric Says:

Walkdaplank, I like your stance!!! Now that’s a Buc Fan!!!!!i always liked Mariota too, but I hope he gets his A$$ knocked into week 2!!

  104. BuccaneEric Says:

cc2015 is not a Bucs fan

  105. BuccaneEric Says:

BucFan20, hey newbie. Are you a Bucs fan or a Fake fan?? Don’t get on here much, huh?

  106. Mariota Joe Says:

BuccaneEric…if you represent the typical Buc fan, it’s a sorry ass fan base. I’ve been a Buc fan and season ticket holder since 1995 (yes, the old Sombrero), and it sounds like you just achieved puberty two years ago. I laugh at how you attack those of us that Infamous has splintered….his fault, not ours. But I’m sure you’ll revel in futher attacking others instead of focusing on the prize….or the lack thereof. Infamous has split the fan base…and now he’s already begun to split and fracture the TEAM…..this is a full blown disaster.

  107. lurker Says:

you are a full blown disaster, fool. winston did not split the fanbase or team, silly man. you say you are a fan, embrace the team and #jameischrist. everything else is just blasphemous.

  108. Mariota Joe Says:

Once again….lurker, like others….oh never mind. Lurker, go buy your number 3 jersey and wear it to your daughter’s birthday party with her friends.

  109. BucFan20 Says:

    @BuccananeEric.
Hate to tell you , but you are new here. I have been here about 3 years . I only comment when I wish to. Not just to see my name 100 times in print or act the fool like you do.

  110. BucFan20 Says:

Also I have been a fan from day 1 of the Bucs being in Tampa. I would not let your alligator mouth overload your humming-bird arse.

  111. BuccaneEric Says:

All I want is us to focus on the Bucs, not Mariota. I don’t know about Mariota Joe or Bucfan20, but I hope Winston has success and and can lead us back to the Super Bowl.

  112. ThunderBuc81 Says:

    Bring back Faine.

  113. BuccaneEric Says:

Mariota Joe and BucFan20, I just read the posts I made last night and I have to apologize. I was drunk posting last night and I guess it didn’t go too well. I won’t be doing that again for a while! Lol

  114. JoeJoe Says:

I find it funny how he calls himself a veteran and Jameis needs to learn from people like him.. He and the rest of the offensive line is the biggest reason we went 2-14.
    He can easily be replaced.

  115. ThunderBuc81 Says:

    @JoeJoe

Couldn’t agree more after reading this article.
