Jason Licht Trolls Kenny Bell

Bucs GM Jason Licht punked new WR Kenny Bell today.

Jason Licht is a Cornhusker. Folks from Nebraska treat the Nebraska football team like an extension of their immediately family. They bleed Cornhusker red.

The Bucs general manager was once a walk-on for Tom Osborne. So when Licht made the phone call to Cornhuskers wide receiver Kenny Bell to tell him he was now a Buccaneer, Licht decided to pull Bell’s chain a bit this afternoon.

“It was really funny,” Bell said in his conference call with the Tampa Bay pen and mic club. Licht “calls and says, ‘Hey, don’t know if you know I was a Husker, so I wanted to talk to you about Husker football a little bit.’

“I always enjoy talking to a Husker so he pulled my chain a little bit.”

Then, Bell said, Licht, after enjoying toying with Bell’s head, told him the good news that he was now a Bucs wide receiver.

Joe lost count how often bell used the word “excited,” later admitting, “I know I sound like a broken record.”

Bell noted Bucs tight ends coach Jon Embree is a family friend and that the thought of catching passes from Jameis Winston has him geeked.

“Jameis, I got the chance to meet him at the combine,” Bell said. “I love the dude.”

Well even if I’m not on the Winston bandwagon (yet?) it is exciting to hear how many players are excited about having him as a teammate (even the guys just drafted). Here’s to hoping every pick in this draft makes the team and play so well that they get a second contract with the Bucs.

This draft just CANT be better!! We are killing it!

Please everyone, mark this draft! This is a future SB team!

    Now for DE Anthony Chickillo

    @MadMax

    I really like it too.

First year they’ve taken 3 or more of the guys I wanted!

We still need a Safety, Punter Middle Linebacker (long term) and Defensive End (Johnson can’t play on both sides at once and I’m not sold on the other side) and a middle CB type.

But I knew we could not address all of the needs this draft. We’ll have to plug holes or hope for some good players being released, otherwise wait till next year on some of them.

I’m very satisfied with this draft. More than I expected to be honest.

    Chikillo drafted by steelers

  5. Babaloo Says:

What he meant to say was Chillicothe drafted by the steelers and no one cares

I hear folks continue this major concern talk about another DE. But check it folks do you realize the cowgirl were last in the league in total sacks last season with 28. I hate them mofos, but they had a pretty damn good season.
