So Jameis Winston, America’s quarterback, was on the practice field for the first time with Buccaneers veterans today.

Joe had to ask offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter about whether he saw the same Jameis, the involved leader who took charge of rookies during last week’s rookie minicamp.

JoeBucsFan.com: With Jameis Winston’s first day with the veterans today, compared with the interaction you saw with him leading the rookies, did you get any of that leadership feel today?

Dirk Koetter: Oh, yeah. That’s just how Jameis is. There’s nothing fake about Jameis, ok. He is naturally gifted as a leader. He’s got a certain charisma about him, especially on the field. I think players are naturally attracted to him. I think players like playing with him. You know he comes out here and has a good time, but he’s also learning and he’s also a rookie.

We’re 96 days from the preseason kickoff in Minnesota.

96 days until preason! Joe that means if you averaging 3 Winston stories a day that means 288 Jameis stories you have to turn out. Cannot wait until I get to see the Bucs run plays on the field!!!

  2. Mariota Joe Says:

Please stop the “America’s quarterback” nonsense JBF…it’s really dumb. Besides, take a poll of “America” and you’ll find a serious lack of love for Infamous.

  3. BUCSLEGENDS Says:

    #BucsFansUnite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  4. Mariota Joe Says:

BTW, regarding “America’s quarterback” (and America is way better than that)….I was at the Players Championship Saturday….saw incredible numbers of Jags gear (local, I know), Gators, Noles, Bama, Georgia, LSU, even some Falcons, Saints, and Dolphins gear. Some Rays too. Bucs? Zero. Absolute zero….no number 3’s. None. Every other year I’ve gone, I’ve always seen a lot of Buc fans….

  5. cory Says:

Change your name to mariotabutthurt man. That’s the way Joe writes. Always has.

  6. snook Says:

A team’s #1 pick QB gets a lot of press.

    Why is that a problem?

  7. Captain Doom Says:

finally, someone to tell Vjax how the heck to run routes!

  8. Architek Says:

Sky is the limit for our future – protect Jameis and “the North will be ours”

    For fellow GOTs brethren.

  9. Dreambig Says:

Love the Americas Quarterback nickname! It is going to spread like wild fire and if not who cares. Talk a poll of America and see how many people hate the Cowgirls and the medial have been calling them America’s team for decades.

  10. tmaxcon Says:

    Long Live America’s Quarterback !!!

Keep pimping your cause mariota joe. It’s comical.

    Go Jaboo!

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Joe’s NOT the only one doing Winston articles left and right. You can include PR and Bucs Nation as well.

It must drive you Mariota clowns crazy, but then again if you were real Bucs fans you would have gotten over it the day after the draft.

If you would have listened to me a month and 1/2 before the draft, perhaps you could have dealt with the current situation a little bit better. There was a reason WHY all the mocks had Winston going to the Bucs. I only typed that about 150 plus times over the course of a month and 1/2.

  12. Mariota Joe Says:

I’m your dose of reality guys. Ignore reality if you wish. Fans can be blind.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

He’s America’s QB because most everyone in America hates him…and the media talks about him left and right. So he is ON America’s mind, because of the media attention he draws.

I don’t understand why some of you don’t get that.

Same as Rockstar GM Dom. Nobody gets why Joe calls him that when it’s been explained numerous times…

  14. Buc1987 Says:

Mariota Joe….no you’re a moron. You were a moron before the draft. Now you’re a moron on steroids.

Keep thinking you matter. This site has had plenty of your kind before. You don’t matter.

  15. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

Joe, eventually people are going to come to the realization that Jameis is the Bucs quarterback. Eventually they will come to the realization that this is Joe BUCS fan dot com. Jameis, being the number 1 overall pick and being the Bucs new QB means that we should be getting a TON of Jameis articles on this site

I’d rather see more, not less

  16. tmaxcon Says:

    Mariota Joe

You wouldn’t know reality if it slapped your face. Once again your extremely poor character comes shinning through with your blind hatred and desire for America’s Quarterback to fail. If you had real character you would be rooting for this fine young man to succeed.

The only true reality is that you are obviously a ignorant low character troll with a poorly executed agenda.

I do however enjoy laughing at you multiple times a day. So thank you for that.

  17. JoeJoes Fungi Nails Says:

Glennon would have more success than Winston…..simple ….however playing Jameis all the time will bring his developement along faster….OK…here is a Buc Luck thought that just popped….Jameis starts the first half of the season and shows typical rookie QB highs and lows. Then Jamesi gets injured and Glennon comes in for 5 games and lights it up…and the contro explodes

  18. Captain Doom Says:

“He’s America’s QB because most everyone in America hates him…and the media talks about him left and right. So he is ON America’s mind, because of the media attention he draws.”

So, jeffrey dahmer is America’s phlebotomist?

  19. Buc since '74 Says:

Mariota Joe – I appreciate that you are a massive Mariota fan. Excellent! The only issue is that this is a Bucs forum. Did you catch that? Not a Titans forum? The Bucs didn’t select Mariota – don’t know if you saw that. I think your love for Mariota would be better served on the Titans forum. Just a thought… And I get that you’re one of those people that keeps the bumper sticker of whoever lost the presidential race so that you can always go back and say “I told you so” and “I voted for the other guy”. If Jameiis fails – you’ll be shinning in the glory of “I told you so” as your “team” remains in the gutter. I hope that feeling keeps you warm at night.

  20. Abu5217 Says:

Joe, please don’t ever stop using the gloss “America’s Quarterback”, even if your tongue is planted firmly in your cheek. I love it!

  21. Buc since '74 Says:

Fungi – I forgot that Glennon was a Heisman winner and won a National Championship and was thought of so highly that he was a the first overall pick. Yeah his chances of being better than Winston are huge! Glennon is an excellent backup. No more, no less.

  22. Captain Doom Says:

his tongue can’t be in two places at once, and JW’s taint has already got it’s name on it.

When was the last time you heard about Dahmer in the news robert? 20 years ago?

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

How about lets let him earn a nickname on the playing field. I’m a Bucs fan through and through but you guys are hoisting this guy up like he’s won us three SuperBowls already.
I like what I see so far but he is a rookie. He needs to earn it!
    Go Bucs!

  25. Abu5217 Says:

Apparently a u’uko iho makani has blown in from Ponte Vedra Beach.

  26. Captain Doom Says:

dahmer’s killer has been in the tabloids and news a good bit lately 87′

you gotta keep up. open the shade, put down the lotion and JW posters man!!

  27. tmaxcon Says:

Glennon couldn’t light up anything without a plug and socket. 5-13 -enough said. The Glennon experiment much like the choir boy experiment are finished / failed.

  28. Captain Doom Says:

mouth of the south…..how’s that for a nickname?

    “allegedely” Amrica’s QB would work

  29. bucman0620 Says:

Free 2 cents, Mariota Joe has a crush on JW aka “America’s QB”. Why else would someone put in so much time and effort into reading every single article about him if they hated him. Why would one continue to come to a sight that is mostly all about JW? It’s like a 6 year old with a crush. They will pick on and beat up their little crush to show how into them they are. Mariota Joe, I understand you because I have a six year old and he needs me to explain things to him a lot too…..

  30. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

I absolutely relish the fact that a few of just can’t accept Winston is the new face of the franchise.

Please, keep typing. Really. It makes my day.

  31. Buc since '74 Says:

Mariota Joe was at the Players Championship saturday wearing his Bucs hat and his Mariota jersey telling everyone how much the Bucs suck. Mariota Joe is a Bucs “fan” everyone. So is joejoeFungisbrain. You two clowns should hook up so you can sit around and complain together about how life sucks. I teach my kids daily how not to be like you clowns.

  32. destro44 Says:

Wait America’s Quarterback? I preferred the Creapy Crab. It’s just funny, and I like Winston.

  33. Blackbeards Ghost Says:

Aye, that lad Jameis be me kind o’ skallywag. Wit’ ‘im at th’ helm o’ me ship, she will be pilligin’ ‘n plunderin’ across th’ south seas. Thar be Lombardi gold in this crews future.

  34. Harry Says:

@87, don’t take the bait my friend. They are just dumb azzes or haters. Their opinions mean less then homeless guy who advises the Browns, lol

  35. ArmandoG Says:

So happy to hear from Gator fans, always pleasant experience

  36. Idontwannahearitanymore Says:

  37. bucs4lyfe Says:

when Byron leftwich, josh freeman, josh mccown and mike glennon were the last starting quarterbacks in your city yea Winston should be a big deal around here

  38. Tiny Tim Says:

    @ Joe Joe Fungus

I agree with you about Glennon. I mean, didn’t you read about all the players who were texting and calling L&L before the draft telling them to let Glennon play oh wait………. Uh nevermind

  39. Wausa Says:

None of this is surprising to me Jameis is going to be great for the Bucs franchise!
Notice how Jason Licht can’t stop smiling that should tell you something!

So what happens when/if Jameis goes 5-13? Not trying to start anything just wondering if he will get the same criticism from you that you give/gave glennon.

  41. tmaxcon Says:

    Firethecannons

Fair Questions… Yes, I would be very critical of Jameis. I am confident he will surpass 5 wins in first season. I am somewhere in the 6 to 7 range. I’d be happy with 6-10 giving the holes on the roster. But, yes, I’ll turn on his arse if he plays bad or goes all Josh McCown. I want my team to Win FIRST… Favorite Players and Loyalties to Players is second to winning it’s a kind of a nice frosting on the cake. I have been a bucs fan since 79 and have had a lot of jerseys / favorite players in my day so I have favorite players of different eras but not at the expense of blind loyalty to my team winning first. apologize for long winded response but it’s relevant. players come and players go but the bucs go on… I am just not a real nostalgic kind of dude

  42. Charlie7 Says:

@ Mariota Joe……you need to change your name to MariotaTennessee Joe and get the hell off this page!!!!!

  43. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:
