Report: Cowboys Hot For Hardy

March 16th, 2015

Oh, the irony.

The NFC East champion Cowboys, who run the Lovie Smith/Rod Marinelli, old school Tampa-2 defense, are consdering bad-boy, free-agent defensive end Greg Hardy.

The report comes this afternoon from 105.3 FM in Dallas, their CBS Sports radio affiliate.

Where do the Bucs stand on Hardy, whose immense, edge-rush talent is something Tampa Bay desperately needs? There’s a quality mystery.

Joe sure hopes the Cowboys pass on Hardy. Joe has bad visions of Hardy coming to Tampa on opening day (Yes, Dallas plays in Tampa this season) and bull rushing Demar Dotson before drilling Jameis Winston for a sack to end the game.

If Hardy’s not a Buccaneer, then Joe sure hopes that manbeast lands in the AFC.

oh my god if we dont sign him im having a mental breakdown… never have i been as pessimistic about an offseason as i am right now; and its basically just begun

  2. unbelievable Says:

The trick is figuring out how much to pay this man knowing there is a good possibility that he is suspended the first 4 – 6 games of the season.

Maybe we can sell him on sticking it to his old team twice a year.

  3. bucrightoff Says:

Jerry’s mug is just revolting to look at, even if it really isn’t even his own face anymore.

  4. ddneast Says:

Cowboys have cap problem which is the main reason we were able to sign their LB and they couldn’t sign thier RB and the Eagles were.
Cowboy fan wouldn’t care if the team fielded two units full of ex cons convicted of all sorts of heinous crimes as long as they showed up to meetings on time and won on Sunday.
I’m not saying that is good or bad, that is just the way it is in Texas,me specially with Jerry Jones.

  5. DIII>BUCSFOOTBALL Says:

overpay for him!!! whose cares, we have been pathetic for soooooooo long.

  6. HawaiianBuc Says:

I really don’t understand why we aren’t going after him. I understand his actions were horrible, but if he’s allowed to play, that’s enough for me. He is probably a top 5 pass rusher, and our DE’s are bottom 5. He’s an absolute perfect fit for our defense. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Unless he’s asking for ridiculous money, I just don’t get us letting him go somewhere else.

  7. Rrsrq Says:

I think the Bucs are scared to sign Hardy (haven’t heard them make a comment about being on their radar, though they know they absolutely NEED him. I think they are scared of then acklash of having both Hardy and Winston big boards on Dale Mabry

  8. ADown88 Says:

Teams keep getting better and we just stay the same… yes we do… yes we do… (McConaughey voice)

  9. 1bucfanjeff Says:

I think Buc fans may explode if we don’t make an attempt for him.

  10. sturgis1115 Says:

Should land in jail not afc or nfc used Panthers money he didn’t even earn to buy off the female who went sking and shopping spree flying around Us stop thinking sacks from this monster and get a real man to play remember there are dad’s in that locker room who have girls could be a mess that bucs can’t handle with the football issues we already have get Winston trade or wait on Evans to be cut by saints draft some young hungry o/d lineman and let’s go bucs can’t wait to see Carter fly around with lvd Melton can play some DL screw hardy

  11. Couch Fan Says:

Only thing I can think of is that it is to much bad PR, in their opinion, to go after both Winston and Hardy. Nothing else makes sense.

  12. bucrightoff Says:

And apparently the only other team that is interested in Hardy is Seattle. Sounds like he was never remotely considered for here.

  13. wifebeater5 Says:

Wow a wife beater and rapist on one team…

  14. Architek Says:

    Lmbo

People wanna win and until we prove to have a winning culture this is gonna happen when there is a even playing field with the money.

  15. tmaxcon Says:

Sign Hardy now. It’s football not babysitting kids.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

You Winston fans should be happy we are apparently passing on Hardy…..the Bucs are probably very reluctant to go for Hardy for character reasons & if they do draft Winston…don’t want him to be included in that discussion….”Bucs abandoning character stance”

Also….how does it surprise anyone after the character cuts the Bucs have been engaging in the last two or three years….over different coaches….the common link is the Glazers.

  17. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Overpay him to a lucrative contract to make the Cowboys reconsider signing him. I don’t care if he’s suspended. When he does come back he would still have more sacks then our entire Dline with the remainder of the season. Lmao.

  18. phreakybucfan Says:

Winston, Hardy, Peterson… I say resign Jeremy Stevens, and bust Rae Caruth outta prison… Who’s with me?

  19. HawaiianBuc Says:

“Should land in jail not afc or nfc used Panthers money he didn’t even earn to buy off the female who went sking and shopping spree flying around Us stop thinking sacks from this monster and get a real man to play remember there are dad’s in that locker room who have girls could be a mess that bucs can’t handle with the football issues we already have get Winston trade or wait on Evans to be cut by saints draft some young hungry o/d lineman and let’s go bucs can’t wait to see Carter fly around with lvd Melton can play some DL screw hardy”

    ——-

What the hell are you saying? I’m not the grammar police, but at least use a comma or something so that we can understand what you are saying.

  20. Jim Says:

Perhaps Winston and Hardy could be roommates.

  21. SteveK Says:

This is a HUGE year for Lovie and Licht.

Greg Schiano had twice the success, with more hardships to overcome.

    Win, or he gone, Lovie.

Will the same “Buc Fan Faithful” have enough GUTS to hang a bilboard if Lovie achieves what Schiano did?

I guess I should ask, would Lovie receive recognition, in the way of bilboards, if and when he gets us to 4-12?

There is no reason why we can’t pay Greg Hardy, unless we want to lose all the way to London?

  22. Rob Says:

I thought the Cowboys had cap issues…

  23. Bucsfanman Says:

Great idea! Lets sign him so he can sit (probably suspended 4 games)and collect more paychecks while beating and then summarily paying off his victims. This guy was convicted, not accused. There’s a difference.
I wish that I could say that I am shocked that fans want him here but (1) This is Tampa Bay, and (2) It’s all about that dollar.

  24. bucrightoff Says:

lol Tebow working out for Philly. Chip is doing whatever the hell he wants.

  25. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Wife beater 5: lmao looks like we have a wife beater as a fan or so your name implies. I’d rather have people on this team that makes us win. What they have done or haven’t done in the past is up to the justice system to decide. And since winsto’s case it was proven that she was lying well then wife beater5 what else do u have on him. Being a typical 20 year old. as far as Hardy if you read the 911 call you would see he didn’t beat her. He was trying to get away from her while she was hitting him and breaking a bunch of things all the while he was on the phone with 9-11 operator. Yet he’s a wife beater. Damn shame that in this world you a guilty until proven innocent. You should get both sides of the story before you judge. OMFG RUN FOR THE HILLS AND SCREAM PROFANITIES WHEN WE START WINNING. LMAO.

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

@Phreaky- I’m in, but only if we get Big Ben!

  27. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

I swear some of you fans are such hippocrites. So what if we get peterson and Hardy; are you all whinny fans gonna leave the team when we are winning championship games? Honestly I hope you all do but I know damn well the same ones complaining now will be some ones being their biggest fans. This team is tired of midocracy in team play and their fans. You guys act like you have never made mistakes in your lives and needed a second chance. Lol. HIPPOCRITES !!!!

  28. sturgis1115 Says:

Pretty sure hardy didn’t make mistake when beating her. What did he trip and had to grab her hair and drag her to gain balance? Guess he didn’t mean to throw her on bed of guns and put his hands around her neck. Mistake my azz. Not like mistaking he went the wrong way , he went the way he is. No mistake

  29. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    bucrightoff Says
“lol Tebow working out for Philly. Chip is doing whatever the hell he wants.”

First I heard of it…but it does make some sense.

  30. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Didn’t say mistake. he did what he did and he is paying the price. How much long must he pay for this mistake ? And as far as mistakes. I hope he mistakenly gets more sacks than any of our defensive front even with the time that he is suspended. Give it a break. We tried for 15 years to try to win with choir boys. And guess what it didn’t work AT ALL. give the man a chance. And for those who are giving AP Sh!t you need to slap yourself. If the bucs get a chance to get who I dare to say is the greatest running back of ALL TIME they would be retarded not to do so. And for those who are still salty about what he did because he disiplined his son the way he was disaplined as a child so be it. Do I agree with it. No but damn should we burn them all at the stake? If that’s the case for every mistake we as humans have made I guess we should all burn too right. Or is it because we are all perfect and never have done a bad thing in our lives?

  31. Yungry Says:

Do something! We have J. Smith and W.Gholston are are #1s and Larry English as a back up… OMG someobdy press the panic button. We need draft picks for oline and quarterback. Licht better have something up his sleeve

  32. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

First off, Peterson is nothing like Winston and Hardy. Peterson should never have faced charges. Probably half of us here were punished the way he punished a kid.

    He was socially convicted.

It could be argued that if Winston really was innocent, he is also not in the same class as Hardy. IF.

I decided months ago that the reason I don’t want Winston is not his off field behavior/issues. Doesn’t mean I won’t bring them up. He put himself into the situations and he reaps what he sows.

That said, I DO want Hardy. This is an extremely rare opportunity. Greg Hardy is a sure thing. It’s extremely doubtful that anything like this will ever happen again. He’s a proven player.

He could be this generation’s Simeon Rice.

  33. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    @DepressedbucsfaN

If you want people to read your comments, hitting enter a few times here and there to break things up would help…because I have to tell you…I don’t bother when I see a huge block of text with no breaks.

  34. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

    O

  35. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

    K

  36. sturgis1115 Says:

What price did hardy pay? He got 13 million to stay away and pay her off with. Now he will get paid millions to play football instead of prison. He must be suffering so bad. If he comes to bucs maybe Sapp can mentor him, he is looking for work.

  37. HawaiianBuc Says:

Here’s the thing, we all would prefer to have choir boys on this team. If there were someone even close to Hardy’s skill set available, we wouldn’t even be having this discussion. But there isn’t. Fact of the matter is, this is a game where success and failure is only predicated on one thing – wins. If having good guys made any difference to anyone, Dominik would probably be the top GM in the league. Bottom line is you have to win games, and if it takes having arse holes on the team to make that happen, so be it. It’s admirable that many of you don’t want Hardy on the team. However, if he becomes the next Simeon Rice and leads us to another Super Bowl, are you going to boycott the game? Hell no! You’ll probably be the very one wearing a Hardy jersey with no recollection of what he did to that girl. Wins have a tendency to do that. I don’t hear of too many Buc fans that hate Michael Pittman, do you?

Greg Hardy will make us a better team. Being a better team means more wins. More wins means playing meaningful games in November and December. Anyone not want that? Would anyone rather continue being the Sucs than have a few bad guys on the team? Not me. Every team has some bad apples on it, just like every workplace. Don’t buy his jersey, don’t let him take a picture with your kids, and remember that he’s a jack arse – but when he suits up in those ugly arse uniforms, cheer for him to destroy the QB, because that’s exactly what he does.

  38. Pickgrin Says:

There are no other “good” DE options available. We could use a high draft pick on a DE – but we need to be picking OL with picks 2 and 3. Have to find starters there for this year.

Hardy is available and we have more than enough cap space to sign him. Hardy is not just good – he’s like a top 5 or even top 3 DE. Already proven in the NFL as such.

If the court system says he is allowed to be a free member of society – then the NFL has no right or reason to keep him from playing the game. As far as I know this incident was his 1st legal issue. The “victim” is obviously not interested in having him prosecuted so why should anyone else care?

Even if Hardy is suspended for 2 or 4 or even 6 games – it would be worth it to have him for at least 2/3rds of the season.

This dude will cause some serious disruption in opposing teams backfields and lining a talent like that up next to McCoy will be a nightmare for Offenses to deal with. Pressure like that makes this Defense hum as we saw 1st hand when Sapp and Rice were doing their thing together.

  39. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Adown

    “Teams keep getting better”

Really? Which teams in our division got better? Could you be specific? Seems to me that the Aints are in far worse position that us. No defense, just lost their 2nd best offensive star, and they remain in cap hell. I feel like the Aints are far behind us this off season. An aging Drew Brees can only carry so much of the load.

The Dixie Chicks are virtually in the same place we are except their “franchise QB” has experience while our rookie will not. That’s not a problem though. All I read on this board is how Fameis is ready to come in and save this franchise.
According to many posters here Fameis is already far better than Matty Ice.

As for the Panthers…their stuck in mediocre hell. They don’t suck but they aren’t all that great either. Even I believe Fameis will be better than Newton next year.

The Seahawks? Yeah they’re definitely getting better…and Belicheat will probably improve the Pats…but really nobody has gotten THAT much better.

We need to get a grip! It’s like we’re stuck in hyperbole hell. AGAIN we could have easily been 4-2 going into the bye last year. Losing the OC….messing up the OL chemistry and poor coaching with immature kids like ASJ doing endzone poses just killed us. We couldn’t even count to eleven.

Get a grip guys. It’s the NFL. The competition is even. We need a “franchise QB” OK we’re about to get one. The defense has already improved, and the OL can’t be as bad as last year. We’ll be fine precisely because the other teams in our division suck as badly as we do except for the mediocre Panthers.

  40. Pickgrin Says:

I heard a couple days ago that Hardy was in discussions with “a team that did not want to be named”. I thought at the time – “God I hope that team is the Bucs”. Still do. Maybe they will surprise us all and announce a signing out of the blue. LOL. Seriously doubt that because stuff leaks out fast these days.

But the Bucs should absolutely be seriously considering this guy. Bring him in. Do it now before the Commish makes his ruling. Show him you want him.

At least bring him in for a visit and let Lovie have a long talk with him and see where his head and heart are at. What’s the harm in that? They brought Incognito in for Gods sake – and that dude is about as scummy as they come. Serial scumbag that one.

  41. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Tom Jones wrote a scathing comment in the TB Times yesterday about any of us who want Hardy. He made some good points. And Jones is not from the “choirboy” school of fan. He’s ok with Fameis and the off field issues.

I must confess I’m conflicted about the signing. And I’m not even sure how to handle both Fameis and Hardy joining us in the same year. Luckily Incognito has already signed because many of you would add this serial bully and loser to the team because he would certainly be an upgrade to our OL

@Hawaiian Buc and Pickgrin. You both make excellent arguments to counter Jones and those who would not sign Hardy.

My problem generally lies more with serial offenders than just one horrible incident. Ray Lewis “allegedly” covered up evidence to protect his posse during a murder investigation. He was still given a chance. It’s worked out on and off the field.

I would feel a lot better if we sign Hardy and Fameis and begin using them off the field as women’s rights advocates. They could use their own experiences and tell all the young men who look up to them as role models that beating women is wrong and no means no.

Yeah I realize the ONLY option they really have in 2015 is too simply STFU and wait for the furor to die down. If it does perhaps they can TRULY redeem themselves in 2016.

  42. Lord Cornelius Says:

The guy’s actions are psychotic and borderline evil imo; and he was convicted for them because evidence and witness testimony supported the accusor’s case. He is literally only getting away with it because he has a lot of $$.

The vindictive nature of what he did is much worse than Ray Rice to me. Rice admitted what he did. People just freaked out once a video came out of it. If a video came out of what Hardy did he’d likely never see the field again.

Everyone’s a hypocrite to some degree on how they are OK with certain deeds and not others; but I feel like this guy is just a terrible human being.

Partying/ having problems with drugs / stuff like that / honestly doesn’t bother me at all from a Moral standpoint. That doesn’t harm anyone typically. Assault / murder/ rape / etc do bother me.

I actually am more fine with Ray RIce. What he did was wrong but he admitted to it and hasn’t hid from his mistake; and his wife has stayed with him. By the video you could tell they both get physical with eachother; and that’s just likely been a problem in their relationship. But because we have a video – he’s being villified much more for it.

Winston’s accusor is obvioulsy a completely untrustworthy source at this point; and all evidence supports an innocent verdict. If I felt there was even a decent chance Winston raped the girl I would not defend him so much.

    I don’t want Hardy.

  43. sturgis1115 Says:

Hopefully Aaron’s trail goes his way. We can use him at TE. Be great practice hardy getting chipped on Aaron’s way to running out route.

  44. HawaiianBuc Says:

If we don’t sign him, someone else will. If for example Dallas drafts him and wins the Super Bowl, do you really think there will be one fan boycotting the game because of Hardy? In the famous words of Chad Johnson, “Child please!”. Does anyone here feel that he wouldn’t be a HUGE difference maker for our team? Anyone saying he’s overrated? If you really got to know these players off the field, most would disappoint you. That’s the great thing about it, you are cheering for the team, not the individual player. I didn’t want Incognito because he simply wasn’t a difference maker in my opinion. He’s a good guard, but maybe only slightly above average. Hardy is an excellent DE. Big difference. Better players are held to a different standard. You can cry that’s not fair, but it’s the truth in all walks of life, not just football.

  45. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Sturgis. If your complaining about the millions of dollars that these athletes get paid then maybe we as a Country shouldn’t allow an athlete to get millions to play a game, while soldiers like me are fighting for this Country to allow these players to make those millions. How about we set things right…. Take all the money away from sports and give it to the men and women serving this country. God knows we need it. I have been in 5 deployments and the only time I haven’t needed WIC for my family is during those 5 deployments. You want to talk about suffering. Look no further than the men and women keeping us all safe. Just thought I’d throw that out there. I didn’t see this much backlash for Mike Pittman when he ran his wife over with a hummer. Want to know why? Because we were a championship team and he played a part in that. But since we suck we become all high and mighty. Lol. I don’t agree with what Hardy did but damn give the man a break. This team needs his abilities. We haven’t had a dominate DE since Simeon rice 15 years ago.

  46. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

I completely agree with you Hawaiianbucsfan

  47. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Wow sturgis now you are being straight ignorant! Hernandez is in prison for MURDER. Yes Hardy beat a woman who was hitting him. You can only hit someone for so long before he or she reacts. I don’t condone what he did but damn not enough to compare him to Hernandez. Omfg.

  48. HawaiianBuc Says:

Awesome post DepressedbucsfaN! And thank you for your service!

  49. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Lord the witnesses only heard an altercation in his apartment. They did not see anything. They heard a woman screaming and things being broken. Most of those things were being broken by her if you listen to the 911 call. He was trying to get away from her and out he apartment but she blocked his way. All the while he was on the phone with the 911 operator. So honestly Hardy had a shitty attorney. Bc their were no witnesses present inside the apartment except him and his agent. His agent which was the one trying to restrain the woman from hitting Hardy until the police arrived. Listen to the 911 tapes.

  50. sturgis1115 Says:

If the bucs need hardy to have success then things are way worst then we all think. I could care less about money paid to players. Thanks for your service, but don’t throw that around for a reason. No way one player getting signed or not is worth what he did. I believe in 2nd chances for most things . Just what he did doesn’t seem like a good teammate .

  51. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

No problem Hawaiian. I love what I do but to be honest I think it is truly an injustice that we pay them millions like SUH. We don’t do it for the pay but damn a little bit would go a long ways. Not saying we need millions but damn at least keeping us from being under the poverty level would really help lol

  52. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Listen to tr tapes sturgis. To be honest I felt the same way you did until I heard the tapes. The girl was screaming and breaking things and throwing stuff at him, hitting him numerous time, trying to stab him with her heel, all while he’s in the phone with the 911 operator. This girl sounded completely nuts. And to be honest sturgis. YES THIS TEAM IS REALLY THAT BAD THAT WE NEED THIS KINDA HELP. I hate to admit it but it’s true.

  53. sturgis1115 Says:

So if a little lady hits hardy and he can’t take it and wants to kill her. What’s gonna happen when a 300 lb tackle hits him. And when did I compare the 2? Just a point aarron no but hardy yes? Who’s to know if help didn’t come he wouldn’t of killed her? He said he wanted too and had a bed of guns

  54. Buccfan37 Says:

Hell, men have been beating women since the dawn of mankind. Some cultures are more short tempered. Besides, Jones is not likely to let Hardy get away, he could be the cowboys ticket to the trophy. Bucs won’t get him.

  55. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @ depressed bucs fan

I’ll have to listen to the tapes I hadn’t heard that yet. I just read the case files mostly. I’m a lot less educated on this than WInston’s case.

  56. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @DepressedBucsfan

First off…THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE! As a Vietnam Vet I can’t even imagine that many tours in a war zone. We all were one and done except for those who wanted another tour.

Since we abolished the draft the powers that be decided yes we can screw our military.

Everytime I see the Wounded Warriors PSA’s I get really really P!ssed!

Yes they are doing some wonderful things and I support that. They SHOULDN’T HAVE TO EVEN EXIST.

If our tough arses in Congress and the loudmouths back here want to send our young men and women to die and give their freaking limbs for the cause the very LEAST we can do is take care of them when they return. People missing limbs shouldn’t need to have an organization on TV begging for help. They should be taken care of immediately no questions asked by the freaking Government that sent them. whether it’s a Dem or and R.

Some things are just right and some are just wrong. It’s not enough to praise them at Hockey games and beg for relief on TV. TAKE CARE OF THEM DAMN IT.

Sorry for the rant but it’s obviously a hot button topic for me.

    Thanks again DepressedBucsfan!

  57. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Ok so let’s turn the pages around sturgis. What if Hardy was a scrawny kicker and his wife weighed more than him and was beating him. Does that change the circumstances ? VS him being a 300lbs man. what she did was wrong and what he did was wrong. There are no winners in this just losers. However that shouldn’t be a reason that we don’t pay for one of the nfl’s top DE’s to play for us. My god him and gmc would be so feared by opposing quarterbacks that they will hide their wives. PUN intended lol.

  58. DepressedbucsfaN Says:

Ty stpetebucsfan: I am now disabled from an IED blast in Afghanistan this past December and am now awaiting to be medically retired from the army. I’m still trying to come to terms with being retired at 30 and still not have enough to support my family lol. Didn’t mean to go on a rant about the millions these guys get paid but when u see the things that u, I, and other veterans had to witness and endure you feel they are entitled to these things. It pisses me off that we have to beg for donations like that old guy that looks like Santa clause does for the suffering children of some far away country with their sad little faces.

  59. Lord Cornelius Says:

Following up – just found the tapes and I don’t understand how you can find that conclusive at all that she was some crazy girl initiating everything. It’s only his testimony and you don’t hear a lot of noise in the background. The only time you hear her voice it isn’t conclusive at all that she is acting crazy.

There was another 911 call from a neighbor “Some girl’s getting her ass beat upstairs. And I heard it. And I seen it,” a female voice is heard saying. “He is beating her ass right the f— now. So get here now. I was in the apartment. He’s beating her ass.”

The judge wouldn’t have convicted Hardy without good reason & evidence.

  60. sturgis1115 Says:

But he’s not a little kicker . What does size matter with a bed full of guns. So lame way to look at it scrawny man. Come on you are a man of principle , military man. What would your fellow soldiers think if a woman you fight with was beating, threatening in service with you? They gonna be ok with him and trust your life in a battle with him. So it’s ok 2nd chance his a good soldier and we need him for our country to survive. It’s football , does hardy really make all the difference. The money spent to get him could be spread around to 3-4 guys. And he could turn around and get in trouble again get his money and bucs left in deeper hole. Not worth the risk . Let someone else worry bucs got to much to take on a monster in life no football.

  61. LargoBuc Says:

No! The Bucs cant let Hardy get away. Hardy’d pressence could realisticslly have us in the playoff picture come December (assuming we draft Jameis). Seriously this guy could mask alot of holes not just on defense but on the entire team. We have to sign him! You know if Goodell wasn’t tsking his sweet time deciding of Hardy will be punished and for how long, then im sure Hardy would be a Buc by now but understandably the Glazers are hesitant as are many teams.
Its disgusting. Watch him go to a “cool” team like the Cowboys and not miss any time and not even be suspended. Being Jerry Jones and owning the Dallas Cowboys has alot of perks. Of course I have no firsthand knowledge that that would happen for that reason but come on. We all know Jerry Jones and the ‘boys get treated better than a team like the Bucs.
Please Bucs. Bring this guy in. We need him. His skill takes us from 6-10 to 10-6 next year. He could make up for so many other shortcomings on this team .

  62. Stpetebucsfan Says:

Serious question. Why is it assumed that Hardy will be suspended for 4-6 games.
That was true in the first few months after Ray Rice but now that AP has pushed back on the NFL and won I think Goodell may be a little more thoughtful.

Hardy has already missed virtually all of last year. Goodell is going to have to say which policy he using and the precedent for the amount of time. Rice a year…Hardy a year….is Rice also expected to miss the first part of the season?

  63. HawaiianBuc Says:

    @Stpetebucsfan,

That’s an easy one, Fidel Goddell is in charge. Things like due process, time served, or common sense do not apply to him. He is going to cite the automatic 6 game suspension for domestic violence, even though that rule was put in place well after Hardy’s incident.

As for him missing last year, that is true, but he was paid for it. It was not an unpaid suspension, so he really hasn’t been punished when it comes to money. Regardless of if he gets suspended, we still need him. Let him come in after 6 games and do his thing. Hopefully we aren’t discussing the draft by then, but I have a sneaky suspicion we are going to be a greatly improved team next year. Our division is a pile of sh!t, and if whatever QB we draft if halfway decent, we’ll be in contention in my opinion. Adding Kraken can take our defense to the next level.

    @Hawaiian

Thanks for that explanation. I had forgotten he got to keep his money and so he has technically yet to be punished.

I sure hope we do our very best to sign him, even IF we have to overpay a bit.
Tampa would become feared and respected once again, as far as defense goes.
As a seasons tickets holder, I don’t pay to watch a bunch of Choirboys. I want to see a winning football team in Tampa again, for a change.

The only reason football players get paid so much money is because the fans support it financially. So there is no point in complaining about it.

I honor service men…in fact, I have served our county as well, but we know the deal when we sign up. We know the risks when we sign up. Complaining about it is like smokers complaining that they got lung cancer from smoking…if they didn’t want it, they shouldn’t have smoked in the first place.

I suffered not one, but two disabling injuries, neither related to service to my country, and had to change careers twice. A man does what he has to do. I succeeded each time, and without the help of knowing the right people (other than my wife who supported me emotionally) to open doors. I started at the ground floor in each career and worked my tail off until it paid off very well.

The point is, being jealous that these players make so much money is pointless. If you want to help the old man that looks like Santa Claus, then become determined to succeed and help him personally. If you don’t want to see veterans suffer, then succeed and do your share of helping them. If you want to help fight homelessness, do your share to fight it by contributing. If you want to help under privileged kids, then find a way to put yourself in a position financially to help them (our even volunteer your time to mentor them if you cannot afford financial investment).

Succeeding in business in the USA requires certain things, but they are things that are not as tough to get as people may believe. First, you have to pay your dues. In anything you do. If it’s medical, you have to go to school and intern and do a residency. In writing, you have to either go to college or study and practice a LOT, then pay your dues by not making profits at first. You’ll have to sacrifice at first, to succeed later.

Sometimes this means stretching yourself outside of your comfort zone. Doing things you never thought you were capable of. Say, like public speaking for example. I know a house wife who was always an introvert throughout most of her marriage. When she divorced and had two girls to raise, she knew they came first and she had to find a way to support them. After exploring several things, her path led her to being a life coach.

Sounds pretty basic, huh? well, she gets paid thousands per appearance all over the world now, to coach others to success that she never herself acquired (well, in a way she has…as a life coach). She learned by studying. She paid her dues. Now she has a head quarters and all.

In my second career, she was one of my clients.

The point is, if you are injured, whether in service to your country or not, you can overcome. I know, because I did it twice.
