Joe learned from a trusted Bucs source that the team has re-upped the contract of defensive end Larry English. Details of the new contract were unavailable.

Despite having a promising preseason, English was pretty much non-existent during the regular season, having but one sack. Difference between him and ghostly Michael Johnson is that English is a backup.

English, a former Chargers first-round pick in 2009, had 12 tackles last season.

“English appeared in 12 games (one start) last season, playing 259 snaps. The former first-round bust will compete for a backup role in training camp. “

Hopefully we can find enough DE talent that English will be cut at the end of pre-season.

I actually like Larry English and think is a good rotation lineman. Wasn’t he a 1st round pick?

Duh…maybe I should read the last paragraph of the article.

By Lovie and lapdog talent evaluation English should get $20mil guaranteed and gifted a starting job at LDE. I hate that Johnson and Collins are still on this football team. Cut these lousy bums already.

Not really. PFT has been showing a lot of signing by all the teams for a couple weeks now.
