Major Wright Re-Signs

March 7th, 2015

major wright 1124The Bucs took care of part of their safety concerns when they re-signed strong safety Major Wright today, per a trusted Bucs source.

Last year, in his sixth NFL season, the former Florida Gator played in 12 games for Tampa Bay.

Wright, still just 26 years old, racked up 51 tackles for the Pewter Pirates. He battled back and rib injuries last season and finished the year on injured reserve.

Details of his contract are not yet available.

“Wright appeared in 12 games (seven starts) for the Bucs prior to being placed on I.R. last season. He should return as veteran depth behind emerging SS Bradley McDougald. ”

  4. Tom Edrington Says:

I’d say guys who play in 12 games provide excellent depth!

  6. Bad Decision Making Rob Lowe Says:

I’ve been asked by the Buccaneers to oversee their personal moves in 2015.
I’m very excited about it and I have a lot of ideas.

    Smart

  9. Pickgrin Says:

Hopefully we can find a good starter to replace Goldson (assuming they cut his under-achieving butt). Wright makes a decent back-up. But if he is a starter – then that’s a weak spot.

  10. BirdDoggers Says:

The Bucs are busy locking up depth. That’s a good thing, considering the total lack of depth this team’s had for several years now. They still need more safety help but Wright knows the system.

  11. iamkingsu Says:

Ok who are we releasing then??

  12. bucs4lyfe Says:

Wright is better than goldson and cheaper….. Goldson was the weak link

  13. cmurda Says:

Good for depth, now on to Lupati and/or Bulaga if he tests the market instead of taking Pack’s offer.

  14. tval Says:

1st. Jameis winston (best player by mile)
2nd. Tre jackson (shore up interior with best or 2nd best overall guard)
3rd. Ronald darby (return man woes solved + instincts/world class speed at corner)
4th. Karlos williams (lovie switches 230 4.4 rb & spec teams wrecking ball back to safety) chancellor??
5th. Give pick to panthers and say “we got jameis” do something.
    6th. Ditto with the saints
Thats just what a confident gm/coach would do..;)
All seriousness though those 4 demonstrate any teams wildest dreams of talent/production/potential.

  15. ChessMaster Says:

Would I be wrong in saying that some of the IR players were just being saved by the coaches for next season when you only have 2 wins?

  16. Kaptain Morgan Says:

Too bad the Bucs haven’t had a “major” signing yet…

  17. Kaptain Morgan Says:

I’m guessing they still draft a Safety to replace the “major” disappoint our safeties were last year…

    (okay I’m done)

  18. PRBucFan Says:

Only 26? Dang I thought he was so much older.
