Michael Johnson Played Halloween

This get-up was popular among Bucs fans who celebrated Halloween this weekend dressed as Michael Johnson.

It was two days after Halloween and Bucs big-moneyed free agent defensive end Michael Johnson was still in the partying spirit. Because he played a ghost today.

As usual, Johnson was invisible and at one time appeared benched. Johnson thinks it is Halloween every game because Demi Moore can play defensive end just as well.

NFL.com had the Bucs’ $24 million guaranteed man, a guy Bucs overall lord of football operations Lovie Smith made his very first target to acquire, with zero tackles today and, of course, no sacks.

Let Joe repeat that: starting right defensive end Michael Johnson had zero tackles today. Through seven games played, he is barely averaging two tackles a game with 15. Johnson has two sacks, one of them when he was totally unblocked against Pittsburgh.

Right now there is no pretty way to say it: Johnson is an ugly waste of a roster spot and hard-earned Team Glazer cash.

Ouch Lovie – this has to sting because this is all his roster!!!

  2. RealityCheck Says:

Some guys have all the luck (and no skill). Can you imagine tricking someone into paying you that obscene amount of money and it being totally legal to do so? Ugh.

  3. NJBucsFan Says:

Lovie’s talent evaluation hard at work here….

FML….we signed his simple-ass to a 5 yr contract too

  4. Florida Hillbilly Says:

    Verner sucks as well!

  5. bucrightoff Says:

Start Jacquies Smith, bench this bum and cut him in the offseason and take the hit. Waste of money just like Goldson and Wright before him.

  6. DallasBuc Says:

Second coming of Simeon! Prototypical edge rusher! No need for him to compete with Clayborn because MJ is clearly so much better!
I just love it. The whole off season you fanboys creamed over do-no-wrong Lovie and his lapdog GM. What an epic disaster. LovieDovie makes Raheem Morris look like Howard Roark!

  7. Mike10 Says:

So if we released this guy at season’s end, what do we lose? I see $24 mil, but what is that, signing bonus, guaranteed payout next year?

  8. Mike10 Says:

Hillbilly: agreed – how can a “pro bowler” regress so badly under a “defensive minded coach?”

  9. Florida Hillbilly Says:

Revis money went to bottom feeders!

  10. 1bucfan88 Says:

Don’t worry guys! Just give Lovie a few more offseasons to get *his* guys! Gag….

  11. Adrian Says:

Johnson better hope that the Glazers don’t find the receipt

  12. nick Says:

get out of town u loser, Michael Johnson is a pantyliner! cut him !!!

  13. Trubucfan22 Says:

Shoulda kept Revis, the FAs we spent his money on are garbage.

  14. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

    but…but…but…he has a bum ankle!!!!!!!

  15. WalkdaPlank Says:

Jaquies Smith made Johnson look like the clown he is. Cut him and his scrub FA buddies Collins and Verner and hope you can save some money. Throw Lapdog idiot Jason “dumbass” Licht in there too. We cut Revis for these morons??

Can’t wait to here more sewage BULLSH!T come out of Lovie’s mouth after this game.

    What a joke!!

  16. Phred Says:

Joe — you should change the little logo guy’s number from 28 to 90. He looks as prepared as Johnson to start on Sundays.

  17. bucrightoff Says:

Honestly keeping Revis in this defense wouldn’t have mattered. Should have used the cap space to sign Lavonte to a front loaded extension.

  18. Phred Says:

I remember Howard Roark, offensive coordinator for Vince Lombardi. He was great!

DallasBuc, you are a fountain-head of knowledge!

  19. ForgotAboutDre Says:

Lot of people hating Verner, that one play was inexcusable, but he’s been good outside of that. Better than Revis actually.

Michael Johnson should be permanently benched for Jacq Smith. Smith has looked really solid 2 weeks in a row.

  20. bucrightoff Says:

Verner has not been better than Revis. But Revis playing zone wouldn’t really matter like it didn’t last year.

  21. Sledd Says:

I made a point to watch and focus on Johnson when he was in the game; I saw a lot of loafing and “jogging” after qb’s and runners…no hustle, no fight…
sick of watching the Bucs lose…
I love Lovie, but the Tampa 2 is outdated, and Lovie is emotionless, docile and soft…

  22. fordman61 Says:

He’s proof that all NFL contracts should have escape clouses.

  23. DallasBuc Says:

Phred- Michael Johnson is Atlas after the shrug!

  24. fordman61 Says:

He proof that all NFL contracts should have escape clauses.

  25. Espo Says:

He got a pretty good hit in on Hoyer. I was hoping maybe he’d be reminded what it’s like to hit a qb and want to do it again.

  26. BucFanForever Says:

    Verner + Johnson + McCown < Revis

    Lovie was duped.

    “Verner + Johnson + McCown < Revis

True, Verner is the only one even playing mediocre right now…. But even if the Bucs had Revis then we would simply be seeing him shutdown his side of the field and then watch as a bunch of "Harry Douglas-like" #2 or #3 wideouts for opponents have breakout games by scorching the DB who is covering the other side of the field…. Perhaps the D would be a little better but how many wins would that translate to: perhaps beating the Vikes or the Lambs??? Then we would have people complaining on this site about how garbage wins are damaging the Bucs draft slot?!?!?!?

  28. Capt.Tim Says:

Johnson is highly Visible on 3rd thursday( used to be NFL payday – not sure if it still is).
Other than that , he really appears disinterested.
Not dinged up. Not learning new system. Not getting used to new teamates.

He looks like he hates having to go thru the motion.

People stuck their necks out for him- and he’s pissing on every one of them.
    What a human being

  29. bob in valrico Says:

he was handled by defensive line last week.maybe he needs to move to interior line and get shorter path to quarterback to toughen him up and learn to play off lineman.maybe a personal trainer and extra time in weight room.

  30. Another J Says:

Johnson was busy getting handled by the running backs today!

  31. BucIt941 Says:

HE MAKES ME MISS ADRIAN CLAYBORN! Get Well soon 94 we need you… omg i can’t believe i just said that.

  32. TBLT Says:

Watch the tape, he was routinely blocked one on one with the Tight End (Jim Dray). Elite pass rusher vs. back up TE. What a joke!!!!
