McCoy’s Long Matchup

November 23rd, 2014

Joe’s anxious to see how the Bucs will utilize Gerald McCoy against the Bears today.

Chicago has stud right guard Kyle Long, who was a Pro Bowler as a rookie last season, anchoring their veteran and sometimes shaky offensive line.

Will Tampa Bay approach Long with McCoy lining up opposite him often, kind of looking to neutralize Long? Or will they look to keep McCoy away from Long and seek more favorable — and rare — 1-on-1 matchups.

There’s a lot of pride in Chicago for the fact the Bears did not allow a sack last week against the Vikings’ top-flight pass rush.

If that trend continues, then the Bucs are in for a brutally long day.

Shouldn’t a high paid guy who is as “dominant” as McCoy be able to line up and beat a second year guy pretty consistently?

This Long kid has been up to the test regardless of who he faces including Suh twice a year. Should be a fun matchup to watch if he goes against McCoy.

C’mon GMC, establish your dominance! 🙂
