McCown Led The Collapse

How much more McCown should Bucs fans endure?

Look, Joe’s been calling for the end of the failed Josh McCown experience within hours of McCown’s third consecutive bad game on Sept, 18.

So none of the hot mess that is the Bucs offense surprises Joe.

Today, McCown imploded again late in the first half, just like he did in Chicago, and never recovered.

How much more of this should Bucs fans be forced to endure?

McCown is a bad NFL starter. The stats say it. His won-loss record says it. And the eyeball test makes it loud and clear.

The man has seven interceptions and nine interceptions through seven Tampa Bay starts. That’s downright ugly.

McCown also was hired to lead and inspire. He’s not getting that done, either. The offensive is too often lifeless and always inconsistent on his watch.

McCown’s final numbers today were 15-for-29  for 190 yards and one interception. Absent again was the mobility of McCown that the Bucs regime has touted for months.

And absent again is the sense in starting a bad 35-year-old starter when you have a young quarterback at least as good (bad?) on the bench.

At this rate, Joe won’t want McCown on the bench mentoring Jameis Winston or whoever else might be the starting QB for Tampa Bay next season.

Please someone send us a quarterback.

  2. unbelievable Says:

That last drive, after the big play by Sims, was the most pathetic thing I’ve seen all year. And that is saying quite a lot. The worst part is we have been in position to not only win but dominate games this year, only to piss it away.

This team is so pathetic, it is truly unbelievable these guys are “pros”.

  3. Marlow Says:

Never thought I could be even more disappointed than I have been prior to this week.

  4. Supersam Says:

Yea! Because 4 interception against a bad florida team is exactly what this team needs, not too mention the off the field headache he brings. Get a clue joe, no way in hell Winston is on this team come next year. Just stop already. My head hurts enough from this team.

  5. Connor Says:

Lovie Smith doesn’t believe in good quarterbacks.

  6. SteveK Says:

    Glennon should be reinserted.

  7. Marlow Says:

    Please NO Winston!

  8. unbelievable Says:

*sorry that was Rainey not sims with big play.

Also what happened to Herron’s hands? Did they get chopped off last week?

  9. Goodolebucfan Says:

    New flash Glennon sucks too!

  10. WalkdaPlank Says:

Say what you will about Glennon, but he got the job done at the end of the Pittsburgh game, and probably could’ve done the same today.

We need a QB. The rest of the offseason moves and draft picks should go to the O-line.

But of course Liar Smith will not do that.

Liar Smith will have McClown starting in 2015.

  11. bucrightoff Says:

Lovie needs to be fired if we’re drafting a QB, Lovie will destroy him we all know this.

  12. Pewter Lou Says:

The funny thing about the 12 men on the field was that it wasn’t a matter of someone getting caught sprinting to the sidelines. They were simply lined up,all 12 of em,ready to roll, lol, we have a serious limp with all these bullet holes in our feet.

  13. Architek Says:

STOP IT – GLENNON SUCKS TOO AND IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE WITH A TRASH OL AND BAD COACHES…

  14. Oahubuc Says:

I knew this game was over when McClown was still playing in the 2nd half. It’s great to have a stubborn head coach if they know what they’re doing. Lovie is out of it, man. Can him already.

  15. Reezy Says:

    Someone send us an o-line!

  16. Mark Says:

Yes lets completely ignore the fact that these coaches can’t handle basic substitutions and had 12 men on the field when we had the game won and just put all the blame on the QB.

  17. Warren Says:

Coaching cost is this game. And that’s tough for me to say. Every time e touches the ball, Rainey makes something happen…yet we insist on using him sparingly. But nothing trumps the 12 men on the field on the play that put us in fg range…that’s coaching and team management pure and simple.

  18. Casual Observer Says:

The 12th. man play is on the coaches.

  19. MadMax Says:

play Glennon from here out and get him some experience….he’ll be our backup next year after mcclown is released and we’ve drafted a new qb.

  20. Bucnut2 Says:

We need a qb. Joe forget Winston, he sucks. This guy had been playing horrible competition and wil be an over reach in the first round. Plus he’s a thug.

  21. ColiBUC Says:

Come on, Joe. McCown is the most visible symptom of the disease of Lovie’s coaching and personnel decisions. #FIRELOVIE

  22. Ryan Says:

Last year it was Manziel. This year it’s Winston.

Just proves Joe has zero idea on on what he watches. Probably never played a sport beyond little league.

Sorry, Joe played several high school sports and college ball. –Joe

  23. tgreg Says:

Which of the QBs you wanted the Bucs to draft this year has truned their team around? NONE

  24. deathaneers Says:

These dam ads at the bottom of the screen r fu#kin annoying ……..please stop them….no other website does this on my phone!!:

  25. Bucnut2 Says:

    @supersam, well said!

  26. Ray Rice Says:

I would take anyone else’s back up QB over the YUCS starting QB right now. FUK this sux.

  27. Phred Says:

Can’t blame McCown — his who who he is. Not his fault he’s a below-average QB with well-known deficiencies. You have to blame the guy who puts him in that position and expects him to do something he’s never been able to do — consistently lead a successful offense.

  28. mark2001 Says:

Lovie had a very good team in Chicago and drove it down into mediocrity. He has had a below average team in Tampa and driven it into the ditch. Who in their right mind ever thought he was a good choice for HC?

  29. gotbbucs Says:

All I do is read the play-by-play on my phone anymore. I have no interest in even going to a bar and watching this hog sh!t team. The last game I tried to watch was the Ravens game and you can imagine how long that viewing lasted.
When hardcore fans such as myself have completely given up its not good. I tolerated Raheem because he just didn’t know any better. Schiano I gave a bit of a leash to because he never had a hope or prayer of putting a staff together as late as they hired him. Lovie should not be granted any honeymoon period. He was hired early and had all the connections in the world and got an open checkbook for free agents and look what he gave us. A steaming pile of sh!t.

  30. SkiBucsFan Says:

Joe, You misspelled it again…It’s McClown.

  31. Patrick in VA Says:

There are only two games we’ve played this year where we’ve simply been bested. Every other game could’ve been won by a team that was at least ok. And here we sit at 2-10. We’ve beaten ourselves nearly every time and today’s game was no different. Stupid penalties, bad protection and poor qb play killed us. The defense and special teams actually played well today. This one is all on the offense and most of the blame goes to the line

  32. johnnytheMOON Says:

When Glennon has more Turnovers than TDS ,, i will say he is as bad as Mccown ….i think i will be waiting a long time…

  33. Warrenfb12 Says:

Mccown is terrible. Anyone still think qb shouldn’t be our first round pick?

  34. passthebuc` Says:

Nothing will change until Lovie is gone.

The owners gave him a 3 year deal so plan to endure 2 more years of pain.

Lovie will bring back all his staff

Lovie will keep his QB as a starter, just to try to prove he was wright.

After 2 more years of lovie ball, we will hire a new HC an the BS will start all over again.

If your 35, you may have a chance to watch good football in Tampa when your 50.

  35. Bucnut2 Says:

Joe, get a clue. This team has so many needs in addition to qb. We aren’t going to be in a position to win for 3 or 4 years. Pass on the overrated thug Winston and choir boy marriotta. Draft lines on both sides and get a qb in 2016. It’s the only way to fix the franchise long term. Band aids have not worked.

  36. buc4lyfe Says:

Joe that’s stalker hate….. The more you talk the more you convince people you don’t know a damn thing about football. What’s the difference in Glennon dragging into the fourth quarter against bad teams and this team hanging on against a top team, I would say shut up but I realized you’re just the skip bayless of the internet. It’s clear that loss was on the o line and penalties so yea the o line…. It’s on lovie for having an undisciplined team.

  37. fatherfranklin Says:

Today I was home sick from work and able to watch the Bucs live today. This offense is offensive. Joe you’re right on, McCown is a disaster. This is one of, if not the worst offense I’ve seen play the game. Is it coaching, YES. Is it the play calling, YES. Is it terrible play and terrible leadership from McCown, YES. Put Mike in now! There is no way it can get any worse. I’m sure sicker now than I was before watching this mess.

  38. dmatt Says:

Look at the number of his passes that were dropped by DBS that were potential interceptions during his helm at QB this year. He just throws it up n receivers make spectacular catches that make his stats look good. He was giving himself to the d line for a sack. Plz someone we need to just go with Glennon for the remainder of the year. McCown n arm sucks. McCown is a 13 year rookie being pampered by daddy Lovie. For this is the reason he cried two weeks ago. He’s as bad as Jimmy Swaggert confessing his sins to America. Houston we have a problem!!!

  39. BucFan20 Says:

Say what some of you clowns will. Here is the question. You see what you do in McClown. Arroyo Is busy playing OC. So exactly what is Glennon to learn? How to be as bad as McClown? Don’t tell me his QB coach can spend as much time as he needs because that is BS. He needs a real coach which he has not had . And even if we drafted you “super star Winston” ther is no real mentor here or real coach.

  40. road warrior Says:

And once again we have a new way too loose a game. Has anyone ever seen this before.

  41. Bucnut2 Says:

    This team is aweful

  42. kevin Says:

Neither qb on our roster can lead this team. The ol SUCKS and the coaching makes no sense. Mccown found success taking advantage of his big receivers in Chicago. They dont even take shots. So the problem on offense is the entire offense. We have the receivers and carriers but lack the o line qb and playcalling. If Tedford is not back and we stick with arroyo next season I will probably have to switch to direct tv so I can watch a real game every week next season.

  43. Tom Edrington Says:

    RAYMOND JAMES STADIUM:

    Home of the 12th Man!

  44. OB Says:

We jsut need a head coach that knows what he is doing and can see how the players and coaches are doing and make the appropiate steps, instead we have one with his head up his a…..

  45. Bucnut2 Says:

@ Patrick, sorry you’re wrong. The games we were “in” we’re just like today. In. Spite of getting our asses kick, somehow hung around around. Bottom line this time is horrible and all of this were close talk is bs

  46. Bucnut2 Says:

    Team is

  47. brandonbucsfan Says:

I think almost everything has been said…except…WHY on G*ds green earth is Leonard Johnson covering A.J. Green on his touchdown?
What happened to our DE Smith? I saw Michael the Ghost Johnson on the field most of the day?
How could we put ourselves in a position where Gilkey had to play center?
    Nuff said.

  48. Ray Rice Says:

    @ Tom Edrington

    Lmfao. That was awesome!!!

  49. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

Maybe Lovie will play Glennon (aka the best QB currently on the Buccaneers roster) once the Bucs are finally mathematically eliminated from the playoffs? Lovie is obviously either trying to tank for draft pick or McCown has compromising photos of him, because no logical explanation exists for him to not play the QB with the better potential at a record of 2-10.

  50. RCH Says:

Just stop with the Winston talk. What coach going into next yr potentially in the hot seat is going to throw all the marbles in on a player with that kind of baggage with that coaches job on the line? C’mon man let’s not insult knowledgeable people’s intelligence.

  51. Bucnjim Says:

It no longer makes sense to start McCown! What are we gaining? Whether you like Glennon or not; at least he can become trade material or a decent backup. What are you getting from McCown??

  52. Soggy Says:

The bowling ball hike is a nice trick play.. lol

  53. ryan Says:

    buc4lyfe is 100% correct.

Joe has become SkipBaylessFan.com. The Bucs are dead and the only way to generate traffic to the site is to ignore the most glaring holes on this roster and keep trotting out McCown vs Glennon articles or the occasional poll about Lovie Smith. Almost forgot another lightning rod, the weekly Winston article.

Guess you gotta do whatever you can to get clicks though for a blog for a crap team because as we can all see from the amount of comments in postgame threads, lots of fans arent coming here anymore.

  54. SteveK Says:

    Glennon would’ve done better today.

  55. DallasBuc Says:

When you intend in a premeditated manner to start Trash McCown as a QB for your franchise after evaluating his performance over the course of a decade+ of ineptitude the only conclusion a simple man like say Lovie Smith can draw is that you are not actually trying to win football games in this league. I really wish the obvious would be acknowledged by the media, present company included

  56. linda sagese Says:

What about the playcalling at the END? At least attempt a (winning) fieldl goal….kicker more reliable than any other players.

  57. dmatt Says:

    Brandonbucsfan
My reply to ur question is y is Leonard Johnson still on the team? Jacques Smith played n consistently created disruption which is often not recognized. MJohnson was on the field n as usual did everything to avoid getting hurt. He’s a joke. Never use his 6’7 frame to knock down or disrupt the pass. As of late we have a few no name DBS who r playing pretty good. Anyone know how many penalties we had today n how many by the OL? Did Gilkey have 4 penalties n 2 bonehead plays?

  58. Rrsrq Says:

Who’s the practice squad QB, start him and the two linemen you drafted, not impressed with Charles Sims, seems average at best, no burst/speed, don’t see a home run threat at all, but it’s time to see what we got, we know what we don’t, i.e., Michael Johnson, Anthony Collins, EDS, Logan Mankins, Luke I.R. Stocker. Play the hungry guys and think about not starting GMC to second half, he seems to not make any plays in the 2nd half

  59. fordman61 Says:

I predict that Josh McCown will retire after this season ‘ His reason being that he really no longer enjoys playing at the professional level and wants to go Back to his hometown of bucktooth ‘Mississippi to coach high school boys at the quarterback position . Whitch is where he should have stayed in the first place.

  60. Jim Says:

It’s not a big deal, no rookie QB will listen to anything McClown has to say anyway.

  61. Espo Says:

McCown should’ve been aborted. Is it too late?

Glennon should’ve been a Children of the Corn extra.

They are both garbage. I’m tired of this argument. Can we please find a quarterback?

  62. DallasBuc Says:

    McCown sped the collapse…

  63. Buccfan37 Says:

Lovie is way in over his head. I’ve been calling for Glennon repeatedly. What exactly does Lovie see in McCown that I’m missing?

  64. buccanAy Says:

What Qb drafted in last 2 yrs has been better than Glennon?

  65. Espo Says:

    DMatt,

Johnson actually had some pressure and got a couple good hits on Dalton. I know it isn’t much but I feel he actually contributed this game. The entire defense played well.

I’d like to know why when we have them at the 1 GMC is on the bench for them to run up the gut.

  66. SteveK Says:

Glennon would have more wins than McCown.

    It’s as simple as that.

  67. The Buc Realist Says:

Glennon is the best QB on the roster. that much is undisputed. But I am happy that the Bucs are losing with McCown. He will get the bucs the highest draft pick. Lovie needs talent. He will not out-coach other nfl coaches. he will only win if he has more talent on the roster!

  68. billy buckaroo Says:

As I watched the game I thought “NO WAY ARE THEY GOING TO RUN UP THE MIDDLE” at this time, again, yet they did. Little or no gain, again
    Play calling was unbelievable

  69. Autopsy IV Says:

I’m moving out of Florida in December and I really think I am leaving my Buccaneer fandom here. They make it so easy to be indifferent. Thank god for the Lightning.

  70. Fort Myers Dave Says:

Okay I give up, this qb tandem in Tampa sux….. Bucs should use the #2 overall to land whoever is left from Mariota and Winston after the Raiders trade the 1st overall to the highest bidder like the Giants, Skins or Jets; hopefully Tampa will not join the fruckus….. But fans, we still ne a LOT of ****ing help in the trenches, so do not trade draft picks for a qb but try to build an OL….

  71. Capt.Tim Says:

Hey! We came one point from beating the AFC central leading Bengals!
Since we got McCown in there- we have improved every week!

  72. Capt.Tim Says:

    BuccanAy-
    – all of them!?!
Glennon has statistically lead our offense to 32nd(Last!) place every time he has started.

    Last place is worst.
Glennon is the worst QB in the NFL.

From worst to . . . Even worster

  73. Mike Glennon Mob Says:

Glennon has played better than any rookie QB to come out of the draft last year or this year. He been better than Cam Newton and RGIII. He’s never had as bad a game as Dalton had today. He should be starting.

  74. Zam Says:

There’s no point in playing Glennon either. He s*cks and only hurts his trade value with every successive game.

I’d rather sign Tebow or anyone off the street at this point and see what they can do. Because neither Buc QB at this point is worth watching.

  75. BucfaninMO Says:

Just wondering who has more adds Joe or a NASCAR Sprint Cup car

  76. Charles Says:

Defense played great.Only 13 points and mediocre stats should send McCown back to the bench.

  77. ihateloviesmith Says:

on the first day of Christmas the glazers gave to me, a pathetic losing H.C. on the second day of Christmas the glazers gave to me, 2 stinking wins and a pathetic losing H.C. on the third day of Christmas the glazers gave to me three friends a laughing, 2 stinking wins and a pathetic losing H.C. on the fourth day of Christmas the glazers gave to me, four yards a rushing, three friends a laughing, two stinking wins, and a pathetic losing H.C. on the fifth day of Christmas the glazers gave to me, no fucking rings, four yards a rushing, three friends a laughing, two stinking wins, and a pathetic losing H.C. on the sixth day of Christmas the glazers gave to me, six men a moving, no fucking rings, four yards a rushing, three friends a laughing two stinking wins and a pathetic losing H.C. yada yada yada you finish this classic

Thank u! thank u! Thank u! It’s crazy unless he’s drafted in the 7th round.

  79. poorglennon Says:

C’mon guys it could be worse. Some teams r stuck with their McClowns……Bengals and bears. If Cutler was a Buc we’d be 2-10. Having to pay that bum 20M a year. Can’t even release the guy. Too much dead money left

  80. Kim Bartlett Says:

I can not believe the people of Florida do not Remember last year when Glennon Broke all the records. We had a better O-line last year that gave him some protection. But Lovie had to retool that too and bring in that Old Fart Backup buddy of his in here. Instead of doing what should have been done. And giving Glennon the whole Camp to work and get the Bugs out but he waited starting McClown And then threw him in there cold. He did great in Pittsburgh! he stood Toe to Toe with Brees in New Orleans And then no OC so we had a Rookie calling plays that have been the same plays all year long!!! But every year we have to Have a shiny new QB to go out and fall on there face because the coaches refuse to build a team before. Getting those new Keys and they too get ruined Quit wasting Draft picks build a team And you might find the Jewel fact that you had one all Along Wake up People
