There is no way one could properly grade Bucs quarterback Josh McCown in Friday’s game. How could one when he was running for the hills at nearly every snap?

Now if we were judging McCown on his escapability or his ability to flee from would-be car jackers, well, Joe would have to give him a B+.

But it seems fight-instigatingbarista-training, pedestrian-bumpingolive oil-lappingpopcorn-munchingcoffee-slurpingfried-chicken-eatingoatmeal-lovingcircle-jerkingbeer-chuggingcricket-watchingscone-loathingcollege football-naïve, baseball box score-reading Peter King, of theMMQB.com and NBC Sports fame, thinks much better of McCown.

In this SI.com video, King answers Twitter questions from his followers. In separate questions, King offers insight into McCown and explains how he thinks the Bucs may fare this fall.

    Hey joe,
Whatever happened to buc1987? Did be get banned or something?

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Ghost

87 was banned but I suspect he is back with another moniker….

    87….if you’re out there…..send me a sign……

  3. The_Buc_Realist Says:

I too miss Buc1987, We should make a petition to bring him back.

  4. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

Haven’t seen Buc 87. I switched my name from Oil Derrick Brooks to this. I was not banned. But, it appears my posting privileges are on a delay. My posts usually show up an hour or so after I post them.

  5. Tom Edrington Says:

Does Joe have the Peter King adjectives stored for easy reference, does the order alwalys stay the same?

Actually checked all the links to know more about King, he was incredible when his beloved dog died…some of the best writing I’ve ever seen.

  6. Tom Edrington Says:

Joe: You need to add “Dog Eulogizing” to the adjectives for Peter King.

  7. McAlpinMike Says:

Buc1987 = Pablo? McAlpinMike thinks so.

  8. DallasBuc Says:

Inexplicable McCown man-crush spreads. The man is garbage

  9. Buccfan37 Says:

I kind of liked 1987, but not when he talked about the Criminoles and Winston. I can do without that chest thumping. He just got too argumentive with the site owners.

I kind of liked 1987, but not when he talked about the Criminoles and Winston.

When you throw out pejorative terms like Criminoles, people tend to respond. We can all come up with insulting names for the other schools in the state elsewhere, but, why would we? It’s just asking to start something.

  11. Buccfan37 Says:

Good, I like the Criminole name. I’m a Gator fan, have at them. The Gators had their share of criminal malcontents also.

  12. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

    They certainly have.

    See you in November.

  13. Buccfan37 Says:

Love and Warrick Dunn… on second thought, in respect of peace between Buc fans, I will never mention that C word again.

  14. Love and Warrick Dunn Says:

37, my posts are on a delay. I agree with you. Go Bucs.

And, I root for them all once they get to TB. Hope Murphy and Demps ball out.

I highly doubt that is on Joe’s end. It must have something to do with your device or connection.

  16. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

You may want to try another location with someone else’s device, just to see if there is a difference.

  17. Fake Mel Kiper Says:

Yeah, McCown is who he is and that is not changing anytime soon. It’s not like it his 3rd or 4th year. Hell, it’s not like it’s his 8th or 9th. Dumb move bringing him in when you have a capable QB like Glennon.

  18. Couch Fan Says:

Bringing him in is not the dumb move. Handing him the starting job without allowing a competition is the dumb move.

  19. BUC4LIFE79 Says:

Now I know for sure the end of days are upon us…Peter King gave some love to our Bucs.

Finally got to see the game yesterday. A few points:

First, I agree that Josh McCown had very little protection from the OL, but there have been articles quoting Pro Football Focus, as well as several comments claiming that McCown was one of the best QB’s in the league “against pressure”. Where was that McCown? Two fumbles and a “pick 6” in only four series!
Secondly, on the “pick 6” throw, I counted at least four seconds before the throw, so at least on that one he had at least some time.
Thirdly, I thought that Collins at LT had the worst performance of any offensive lineman, and on the sack/fumble, he was easily the first player to the ball, but could not secure it??

With all due respect, I think you’re wrong. I could go into details, but, what’s the point. If I explained, you would likely think differently.

  22. clafollett Says:

    @tickrdr

I was wondering the same thing. They, McCown especially, seemed ill prepared for a jail break. Rust? Nerves? Maybe. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt and trust that Lovie and Licht are on it.

Once is a fluke, twice a coincidence, three times a pattern. If they don’t have it together by #4…

    I’d rather not go there.

Come on O, step it up!

    Go Bucs!
