Insider Vincent Jackson

August 5th, 2014

A thumbs up for former Bucs offensive coordinator Mike Sullivan was well deserved when it came to using Vincent Jackson.

V-Jax arrived in Tampa from San Diego, where he was used almost exclusively as a deep threat, the over-the-top guy. But Sullivan changed that.

The Bucs’ regime made it known quickly that Jackson was very capable of diversifying his game and playing over the middle and working underneath. And Jackson did that, but still managed to have one of the highest yards-per-catch rate in the NFL over the past two years.

Per Jackson, that’s going to continue under Jeff Tedford. In an interview this week, Jackson said the offense is unique to him with its up-tempo nature and diversity.

“I’m not always going to be lined up outside,” Jackson said.

Man, the Bucs have weapons. Tedford really is walking into a well stocked cupboard with his first NFL gig.

Jackson also revealed he’s not a big fan of the “Dunkaneers” nickname that’s been placed on Tampa Bay’s plus-side receiving corps.

“We want to be as dynamic as possible,” Jackson said. “Everybody keeps talking about a basketball team out there, just throwing jump balls. We’re going to be a lot more precise than that.” – ESPN

Glad he spoke up about that. Terrible name for football players.

I like the destroyers, fire them guns. I believe, if it pans out the way it looks, the offense will be the Task Force.

This nickname business is lame. How about being called good football players, good team, winners?…

Agreed Dallas, no need for nicknames. This offense is completely STACKED at the skill positions…. Now that offensive line?……
