For The Most Part, Donald Penn Won

Donald Penn was one of the few Bucs who came to play today.

A key match-up today in the Bucs game was Donald Penn vs. Rams sackmeister Robert Quinn. Until late in the game when the outcome was decided, Penn, for the most part, held his own if not won the battle vs. Quinn.

In the first half particularly, Penn kept Quinn at bay, hold him off or, sometimes, literally throwing Quinn to the side and taking him out of the play.

Joe’s favorite was when Penn flipped Quinn in the air so high that Quinn somersaulted in the first quarter.

No, you cannot pin this loss on Penn. Not even close. Joe paid close attention to the duel — from his bird’s-eye view in the dome.

In fact, Penn played so well, that Jeff Fisher began having Quinn line up very wide to the right, so far that it was left for Brian Leonard to block him and not Penn. That was a mis-match is there ever was one.

There are a lot of fingers to point in this game. Coaches. Quarterback. Defense. Penn did his job until the game was already decided.

Just saw that the Dolphins lost to Buffalo today. Anyone who GETS football knows the Dolphins are a good team, amirite Joes?

  2. RastaMon Says:

    He played the game today……

  3. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Wow Joe, Penn played Terrible..Its like where watching 2 different games..smh. I will watch on replay. I had him giving up 3 sacks.

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Penn may have been alright in pass protection…but something was dreadfully wrong with our O-line. Glennon didn’t have much time and our recievers weren’t getting open. Playcalling again was very predictible….mostly trying to run on 1st and 2nd down.
If Penn did well, he’s the only one.

  5. Nate_tweetz Says:

Quinn had a record day. We couldn’t run the ball. We couldn’t pass protect. NO ONE on this offensive line deserves a lick of credit. This is a joke.

  6. Architek Says:

Penn won! Joe please provide substantial evidence because the eye test says otherwise.

  7. Captain Hindsight Says:

Not the same game that I saw. Penn was being brutalized by Quinn (aka the guy I wanted Bucs to move up for in the draft!)
(I was also cheerful for Daquan Bowers so I don’t have much of a say in drafting.)

  8. That Guy Says:

None of these guys GET football, amirite, Joes?

  9. Niko Says:

Well, I didn’t hear Penn’s name until Late in 4th qtr. was it after game was outta reach? I have to look at again. I do know the 4th is when u want to do your best.

  10. RED MAN Says:

Joe put the beer down. You either didn’t watch the game or you’re just being extremely sarcastic. I’m hoping it’s the latter.

  11. Mr. Patrick Says:

I saw Penn get beat all day in run blocking and give up sacks and pressures. Not exactly an All Pro day. Go ask Penn how he thinks he did

  12. skelly Says:

Agree with most comments on here. From the view on my TV Penn looked bad. But lets just assume you are right…

Why in the hell are you writing a positive article about anyone on the line today. 7 sacks, no run, no offense….Everyone deserves an F today.

  13. patrickbucs Says:

ii cannot imagine Penn will be on this team next year, he’s been awful

  14. eric Says:

LOL really Penn won, won what Penn got his butt kicked by an elite player again! It is time to move him to right tackle and draft not find a top notch oft tackle. Joe man just call it like it is bro! Penn is on the decline it is no doubt he will be better then Dotson on the right side. The angles Joe is putting out there is crazy. The DE who had the three sacks in preseason that Joe was in love with I told you he had fresh legs and you would not here anything from well he was cut.

    Draft Priority has to be

Trade down LT CB TE G/C and Speed Receiver.

  15. Bucnnole Says:

This has to be some sort of joke, Joe??? Penn is handily beaten week in and week out. He is fat, out of shape, and overmatched by almost every end in the league. His mouth is the only thing that knows what running in. Time to go Penn, you fat, overrated nobody. Time for change across the board.

  16. Splengo Says:

Penn got beat like a marching band bass drum today. Maybe I saw a different game!

  17. SeanyMac in SC Says:

Sorry Joe, just seeing it. Sick Of It.

One Line, One Purpose, One Big Fat Mess!

  20. Clowney Says:

For the most part, the Bucs won……….except for the scoreboard.

  21. Drew H. Says:

joke…it’s the whole oline. 7 sacks means they aren’t respecting anyone out there. our offensive line is a joke. joseph & penn need to go. mike glennon has no pocket presence and limited mobility…this is a joke on all fronts. cancel the season. this never happened.

  22. Brandon Says:

Penn is a top half of the league LT. Demar is a top half RT. Our OG play might be the worst in the league. Our overpaid OGs need to be cut or restructured What makes our OTs look worse than we are is terrible playcalling and a completely immobile QB that wilts in the face of pressure.

  23. My Buc-O's Says:

WOW JOE…not sure what game you were watching….Fat Ass Penn was getting beat about every play….if I was Glennon I would have punched Penn in the mouth for letting him get sacked….

  24. thomas 2.2 Says:

Penn Won? That was one of the most dominant games I have seen by a Right end.

  25. Just Frank Says:

Penn is horrible. He needs to lose some weight and train harder for strength. He got dominated Todd game the three sacks he gave up says it all.
