Bucs Trade Arrelious Benn

March 15th, 2013

The Benn’d around play is no more. Arrelious Benn is headed north. The Bucs have traded their coveted second-round pick in the 2010 draft, arguably the deepest draft in NFL history, to the Eagles.

The Bucs barely got a cheesesteak back for the underachieving wide receiver, per the Eagles’ website.

Continuing a busy week of roster moves, the Eagles made a trade Friday, acquiring 24-year-old wide receiver Arrelious Benn from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the deal, the Eagles acquire Benn and a 2013 seventh-round pick from the Bucs in exchange for a 2013 sixth-round pick and a conditional pick in 2014.

Joe will go on the record now and say Chip Kelly will never run the Benn’d around play, which covered the Raheem Morris and Greg Schiano regimes and was an insult to thinking Bucs fans.

Benn’s got talent, but it’s clear the New Schiano Order gave up on him — hard to believe with such a young player.

Joe has suspected Benn never had the mental makeup to a be the guy the Bucs thought they drafted.

Joe wishes Benn well. Obsessed with fashion, Benn can now conveniently shop in Manhattan boutiques on his off days.

  5. Robbie_G Says:

Living near Philly, you would think they just got Megatron. (vomit.. stinkin’ Eagles fans) At leas tthier team is making moves.. GOOD moves.

  6. Terraj Says:

Atleast dom is admitting to his mistake and trying to get something for him….also ROY MILLER signed with j-ville…I see the bucs taking a d tackle with that first round pick

  7. Mr. Patrick Says:

Benn never was the same after that 1st knee injury. He seemed to have lost his burst and his nerve. At least they got something for him.

  8. tmaxcon Says:

damn good news is needed. I also just read that Roy Miller signed with Jags. Damn

  9. bucrightoff Says:

The Bucs will run a Benn’d around week one in his honour.

  10. Dave Says:

Excellent. I see a Blount deal working for a 4th now.

Trying to get a few picks back after thy give some up for Revis?

  11. Vic66 Says:

Don’t let the door hit you in the arse.

  12. tmaxcon Says:

Dumerville can’t stop the run at all but he can harass QB’s. my guess is he goes back to Broncos.

it’s almost too quiet on the Grimes front wonder if injury had setback

  13. Machiavellii Says:

Maybe the Bucs are just focused on stockpiling draft picks this year to make some big splashes in the draft this year instead…

  14. Snook Says:

So we basically cut Benn and got a 6th round pick for a 7th round pick? And a conditional in 2014… which we can only assume will end up being a 7th.

  15. teacherman777 Says:

    One Word

    DIVA!!!

    bye bye

  16. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Working out just as I predicted. Miller wasn’t great…was barely acceptable.

Although Bennett was a high effort guy, I believe Schiano want guys that can get double digit sacks.

DT in the first round, CB twice in round two after a trade up…provided Dom doesn’t sacrifice picks for Revis.

  17. Vorblaw Says:

Great move. Benn wasn’t worth more than a cup of coffee and we steal a draft pick?! Awesome!! And by the way Joe, when are you going to remember that our awesome run defense was SOLELY a product of our putrid pass defense? Bennett and Miller are both overrated and replaceable proven by the low money, short term deals both signed. Schiano and the Rockstar have forgotten more football than we currently know. Let them work their plan (and if it doesn’t work tell Dom to hit the bricks!)

  18. astrobuc Says:

I wish Benn good luck. On a side note, I thought our 7th round pick went to NE for Talib.

  19. Macabee Says:

We knew they were trying to trade Benn and LaCanfora says Blount is being shopped. According to Dominik’s hacked phone conversation with Nix, so is Jamon Meredith. I’m sure the announcements are forthcoming!

  20. canada buc fan Says:

    Vorblaw,

We only gave up 3.5 yards per rush- thats good for best in the league. I will agree with you that had our pass d not been so putrid other teams would have run more often against us resulting in more yards, but when teams tried to run they got nothing, also you dont lead the league in TFLs if you can’t stop the run.

  21. CT Bucs Says:

Great point about Dominic getting a higher pick for Benn than the Ravens got for Boldin.

  22. Rrsrq Says:

So ogletree will now run around the benn’d

  23. kh Says:

PewterReport reporting that Revis will be a Buc tomorrow.

And tomorrow everyone will complain about how we gave up too much to get him.

  24. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

I believe Revis is coming to Tampa!

  25. Terraj Says:

Wow I hadn’t seen that Benn video about fashion. Someone should introduce him to Manti Teo. I bet they’d be buddies.

  26. Paul Says:

lawl, we’ll get a good player with pick #194…

  27. bucnjim Says:

Half these guys were cut with no compensation so a sixth rounder is probably a steal for Benn.

  28. FunkYxMunkeY Says:

I have loved this guy since he was in college and was so stoked when we drafted him! That being said, I hate that he is gone, but it had to be done and I’m so excited we got a 6th rounder for him! Not a bad deal considering SF got Boldin for a 6th. I know we gave up a 7th this year, but really that’s a nothing pick. And, we got another pick next year. Great move Dom! GO BUCS

  29. Buc'N'iT Says:

STEAL! IMO Benn isn’t gonna be much in the new Chip Kelly scheme either, I don’t think that Benns mental make up was there, if possibly heading aomwhere else tonbe anhead coach, Mike Sullivan and Newly appointed head coach Fleck couldn’t get Benn going, I’m not sure Chip can either, Dom fluked him based on his potential, shoulda sent them Myron as well

  30. Buc'N'iT Says:

IMO, the Jets didn’t want Benn, nor our seventh, so we acquired a 6th along with a conditional pick for a player possibly gonna be cut after training camp if still on our roster, so now we have not only a extra 6th to give them but also a conditional which works on our favor, because the Jets will accept the conditional expecting it to turn into something, only leading to nothing upon his release from the Eagles

  31. Buc'N'iT Says:

@Astronuck, don’t quote me but I think we picked up a extra for brain price or kellen but I think the Kellen compensation ran dry upon his release

  32. PRBucFan Says:

Revis has been coming to Tampa for days now…

  33. Lev Says:

Hitler reacts to Bennet going to Seahawks lmfao:
