Bucs & Barber Have Yet To Meet

March 6th, 2013

The free-agency bell rings in seven days and legions of Bucs fans are waiting to learn the fate of Bucs icon Ronde Barber. Will he return for his 17th season with Tampa Bay and extend his NFL ironman streak?

There is no answer. Joe has learned that the annual sit-down between Barber and the Bucs’ brass has yet to happen but will soon. Barber also has not indicated a desire to retire. Joe’s been monitoring Tiki Barber’s national radio and Tiki has implied Barber is eager to meet. Is that a sign he wants to keep playing?

Joe will have an X’s and O’s take on Barber later this morning, which might shock some fans and could be a key to how the Bucs approach Barber at their meeting.

I have a gut feeling we have seen the last of Ronde in a football uniform.

i hate to say but you might be right. i can see him going to SF or the Denver Donkeys (as Rock would say).

  3. Jacko101 Says:

Ronde will retire or play for the bucs period he wouldn’t play for another team.

  4. Keith Says:

If Barber and Roy Miller aren’t welcomed back, then the comments of the coach and GM during the season were all lies.

Let them hit free agency and see what the market bears.

There are better free agents out there.

Besides, if you guys want to win then we need to upgrade some of these guys.

Bring his ass back! Pro Bowl alternate! When you’re a Pro Bowl alternate as a Buccaneer, the team that nobody outside of Tampa gives a damn about, that means you’re kicking some ass!

The sit down meeting will happen after the !st week of free agency when the bucs see who is availible and at what price. I love Barber, but if the find an upgrade who can be a long term solution then they may not bring him back.

I agree with Brian, no one gives two craps about the Bucs other than Bucs fans so for him to still get National attention for being a great player you have to keep giving him 1 year deals as long as he wants them. I mean for God Sakes he is the only one on the team with a ring!

Vacarro in the 13t? I love Barbers leadership and he can still play FS, but we do need to think of the future.

@Mike is right. What would Barber’s 40 time be 5.1?? He is too slow to cover anyone anymore. The fact that he is small and slow and lasted this long on sheer vet savy.Is a testament to his football IQ.

I really thought that Ronde Barber Day last year was a precursor to Ronde finally hanging up his cleats at the end of the season, at least, I took it as a subliminal hint.

I got attack by u maggots when i said ronde shood have been retired 3yrs ago. Thats why we are in so much trouble at cb. We keep playing Barber and missing out on young talent to replace him. Buccahnon was a far better corner then Barber. He was faster, bigger and a way better cover man then ronde ever was. We released cut or traded our best corner to draft a cb first round. Talib! Comedy.

Here my memories of Barber..Getting out Jumped by Hermon Moore & Moss. Sharpe Carter & Antonio Freeman just abusing him in the black & blue. Chicago just got receivers but Booker did us in.

Ok he pick McScab in the NFC Championship game. He has defended Steve Smith better then ive ever seen it done. He played lights out last year but its time OG. He looked sick after that lose to philly. The look on his face IMO said I shood be with the old gang not with these inexperienced kids!

Im so proud of ronde and his career but its time to go to the HOF. Your a shoe in..Thank Monte Kiffin for your success!
