Bucs Still Conducting First Round Of Interviews

January 16th, 2012

Team Glazer is known to be thorough and studious in their searches for a new head coach. So it’s not surprising to Joe to see the void left by jettisoned coach Raheem Morris yet to be filled as we enter the third week of the team without a head coach.

Part of that is, per Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, Team Glazer and Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik are still conducing first-time interviews with prospective candidates.

Looks like Bucs are still in process of conducting 1st interviews for HC job as no one has seemingly been called for a 2nd interview yet

Joe doesn’t have a problem with this as there are still solid candidates out there yet to be interviewed, Packers quarterback coach Tom Clements springs to mind.

So long as this process is thorough, Joe isn’t too broken up by the lengthy time. Surely there should be a coach within the next three weeks.

“Team Glazer is known to be thorough and studious in their searches for a new head coach”.

    Thats a joke, right?

  2. Dave Says:

I have no problem if they take all month long, it should be exhaustive and thorough.

The only issue is, if DCs and OCs start getting gobbled up and then the new coach doesn’t get the staff he really envisioned.

  3. raphael Says:

no problem as long as they hire marty !

  4. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Joe says: “team glazer is known to be thorough and studious in their search for a new head coach.” really? Then how do you explain the no interview disaster hire just days after being named DC that was RahRah the Cliche?

Also, they were not thorough or studious with landing Gru, that was a desperate trade after being jilted by Parcells.

There is an appearance of being deliberate this time. But why? They say to find someone experienced but compatible with the 4pm GM, which may be near impossible.

History suggests that they are looking for the: Cheapest possible candidate that they can make an argument to thd public that it wasnt about $, while never making the contract public.

  5. raphael Says:

    don’t forget the jaganoski debacle

  6. Sgt Mike Says:

I think that should be the new moniker for Dominick, “The 4pm GM”. LMAO

  7. raphael Says:

jagazinski or whatever the flip his name was ….

  8. raphael Says:

    4pm pop star gm

  9. Brad Says:

I posted this in the last article but since this will probably be the last article since we won’t have any news since the pop star is off work, I’ll repost it here.

It would be nice if we at least knew what the Glazers were doing. We hear what every other team is up to but we have to have owners that are tight lipped. Give the fans something to chew on boys. Keeping a disgruntled fan base in the dark might have been ok in the past when we were considered a top tier team but it’s not anymore. You owe it the fans to keep us in the loop somehow. It’s ok your taking your time and want to find the right coach but a weekly press conference at the beginning of the week or the end is not asking for much. At least it would make the fans feel part of the process. Who’s the new PR they hired? I have to think he would encourage these guys that a dwindling fan base is not going to increase by keeping everyone in the dark. At least give us some insight on the guys you’ve interviewed. Are they out, a possibility… And a list of possibles would be helpful too. If there are coaches that are on playoff teams then tell us. If there not on other teams why haven’t they been interviewed already. This guessing game is frustrating. I for one as many others are more than excited that if Marty is the guy but if he’s not at least in the running let us know so we can at least know we’re not wasting key strokes.

Be careful guys, Joe gets real defensive if we start piling on his crush. I think its one of those opposites attract type crushes – Joe a fairly cool mans man, and Dom. One of those Julia Roberts Lyle Lovett deals.

Joe cant possibly be as sharp as it appears yet legitimately without admitting the sarcasm unbendingly act like the 4pm gm is a rockstar – without some peculiar reason. I hope its monetary, more likely Joe likes him. Many of you, including Joe, used to argue with me about how great of an idea it was to fire Gru and hire RahRah.

Well that argument is resolved. I have a feeling that one on Dom will also, and McCoy – in time friends, in time.

Btw: whomever suggested that I be involved in decision making, I am flattered and have offered my services for Free. So far, nobody from the team has accepted. The only thing that I take back is I said dont take Freeman in the 1st round, I have changed my thinking about that, even after last year.

  11. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Brad: I agree, but your statement presumes purity in purpose. These guys cant let they public in on the truth – bc it isnt pretty.

They couldnt afford MANU abd acquired it through high interest loans. Their non-sports wealth (the majority) was in real estate – then the real estate bubble burst – their non-sports wealth cut in half – the major problem – they borrowed money to buy manu by getting loans on property that they thought had nearly twice the value. (if you borrow 700 million on property worth 700 million – its risky but done- now if the bubble bursts and the same property is worth 400 million – whoops). Trouble.

So what do you do. You start pulling cash from your profitable businesses – the bucs (cutting overhead) and MANU (going public in Singapore).

That is basically (the numbers I used are as an example not meant to be exact) what happened.

So you cant be public bc it will be cleat that winning isnt a priority right now.

  12. eric Says:

If no Marty go with Cudz or Zimmer.

I cant stomach the rest of the list.

Between the two id go with Cudz, he ran a hell of an offense there in Carolina and worked under Turner in SD. He also actually had the Browns offense greatly improved. Play some Bandit Ball.

    But either one IMO.

  13. flmike Says:

Unless you’re sitting inside One Buc, you have no idea of Dom’s work habits, and you are relaying info from a less than honest human being, if you want, I am sure Warren will gladly stick you with a $10K dinner/wine tab as well, just ask.

  14. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Flmike: Warren is a member of the media. He made a public statement indicting Dom in reference to his work ethic. I accept Warren’s statement as true until it is refuted.

Irrespective of that, I am not satisfied with Dom’s early round drafting and free agent signings.

  15. TurnThePage Says:

The only way Thomas 2.2 has survived, is he obviously is an alter ego of Joe.

Anyone else who questions Joe to this extent sure would have been banned by now.

  16. yar Says:

Remember the Glazers have to spend 99% of the cap in 2013 so just one more year of low player spending. The Buccanheimers will be ready to make a run by then.

They will need a RB other than the lazy, cherry picking, fumbling slug Blount (just wait till he gets some big money he’ll go lay down somewhere). Trent Richardson would do just fine.

Need to get rid of the dive and miss tackle as a core belief.

Someone please kick these receivers in the A$$.

I sure would’ve liked to have been at that week long party in London this year, it was a real eye opener for the youngry Bucs they figured out they didn’t have to do squat. GO BUCCANHEIMERS!

  17. Bobby Says:

Thomas…Thomas….Thomas….’sigh’ will the moronic posts never cease from you??? Do you have access to the Glazers books to know what their profit and loss is on the Bucs and MANU??? If you do please share it because noone else seems to be privy to that information. Now I know you wouldn’t be just merely speculating and posting it like it’s fact because that’s not your style right…….? Hmmmmm??

  18. RustyRhino Says:

    @Thomas2.2
No it was time for Coach Gruden to go, like coach morris he lost the teams faith in them, and with Gruden we had old vets come aboard for one more haul. Not that he had many but few of his draft choices are good and still around. Joseph and…… Trueblood ……. Black ….. Talib….. Tjax …… Where are any of Grudens superstar DL WR RB TE QB on our roster?

  19. Brad Says:

@thomas. I have to believe if the Glazers were as bad off as you indicted they could just sell the Bucs for an enormous profit. I can’t believe there simply scrapping by with the potential they could earn by selling. With that said if money is not an issue then they have to prove that with a top notch coach and assistants and they must be active in free agency this year. They can’t hide forever. Plus I have to believe interviewing multiple coaches has to be pricey whether they fly in the coaches or go to them then a little wine and dining. If their as bad off as you think they would have just hired Sherman and not do anymore interviewing.

  20. Jake Says:

Thomas 2.2 you continue to speak the truth my friend. The Glazer boys even had to hire their Ari Fleischer wannabe, White House spin doctor to spin and respin their web of lies and chicanery! Keep speaking the truth!

  21. jvato24 Says:

Hey Thomas … Why dont you check out Warren’s twitter page today … He has backed off saying Dom went home at 4pm.

But like Joe said what the hell can he do in an office he cant do with a cell phone in a lap top ??

  22. MTM Says:

The problem with the Glazers exhaustive search is that they need respondents to interview. 4PM must be busy leaving voice mails on every coaches agents phone.
” Uhm its Mark Dominick aka 4pm and uh I was wondering if you would be interested in coming in for an interview. Hello, hello uh are you still there”(dial tone), “Alright then if your interested please stop by One Buc Place no later than 3pm. So I can conduct a full interview”.

  23. Thomas 2.2 Says:

Bobby: I believe Andy Green published a solid article on this re the First Allied (glazer holding co) position.

64 properties, 63 heavily mortgages with many refinanced close to Manu acquisition and pre-bubble burst.

I am not saying that they are broke, they don’t appear to be. However, they are heavily leveraged and working to keep their heads above water – when it didn’t take work before 2008.

The Brits are pissed bc MANU was owned debt free so all profits could go back into the team. the Glazers bought it on loans and a huge chunk of profits now go to interest and not the club. This effects the talent level of the team (Rinaldo) which pisses the Brits off.

A similar occurrence happened here which is why I am pissed.

  24. j lynch Says:

Jeff Jag probably left because he was smarter than Morris ..
