Where’s The Entertainment?

December 4th, 2011

There are oodles of ways to analyze the performance of the Bucs and the worthiness of Raheem Morris’ coaching future in Tampa Bay.

But what can’t be denied or ignored is that the Bucs are simply playing ugly, unattractive football. Sure, there are bright spots from their rookie defensive ends, and highlights from LeGarrette Blount and the occasional deep pass, but the overall product is severely lacking.

It would be one thing to be 4-8 and be the Panthers, with a high-octane, balanced offense, but the Bucs don’t have that. And the defense has fallen so, so far.

Joe and legions of other fans remember the days of  swarming Bucs defenses consistently ranking in the top 10 and battling for every blade of grass. Raheem himself once led the No. 1 ranked passing defense, if Joe remembers correctly.

Yes, the Bucs have a damn exciting kicking game, if there is such a thing.

Raheem repeatedly has called his players entertainers and himself “an entertainer.” Sorry, but Joe’s not enjoying himself watching Bucs games.

Getting clubbed at home in consecutive games when the Bucs are trying to renew season tickets and build a fanbase in the face of blackouts has to be an enormous weight on the franchise.

Joe’s just depressed by what the Bucs have become.

Bowers is playing very well. Madu was a nice spark, I would like to see more of him than Lumpkin. Johnson is not starter material – sorry, he is a really good backup though. Sign him for that purpose.

  2. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

So…are season ticket holders going to pay their first 2012 season ticket installment before Christmas? What Say YOU!

  3. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

That WAS entertainment if you are in to comedies or tragedies…depending on your perspective.

  4. Patrick Says:

I’m not even going to take any bright spots from this game. Bottomline, we’re 4-8, we’re one of the worst teams in the league, and our rushing defense is among the worst in the league AGAIN. 134 yards.

And we saw that Carolina is already better than us, even after going 2-14 last year. Just shows you that you don’t have to spend 3 to 4 years just before you can become decent! Their offense=much more exciting than ours.

  5. AtlBucsFan Says:

Does anyone believe there is one more win left in this team this year? I think not!

  6. sandbagrudy Says:

Sell this stock crash and burn material. just as predicted unable to stop the run undisciplined defense 3rd and long all day unable to convert. They abandoned the gameplan or didn’t have one after the second touchdown. This game was a indication of what was made plain 4 years ago these undersized players with no speed are not ready for aggressive football. Dallas is going to stomp the puke out of this team of misfits as will Washington and Jacksonville they may as well lose out and get closer to a top ten pick they need all the help they can get all over the field.

  7. Crotch McGee Says:

Odds on breaking news tonight at 11:30, Bucs fire Raheem Morris.

  8. Bucsfansince1997 Says:

The buc have never recovered from being robbed in the lions game last year on the Kellen Winslow TD. That broke the back of youngry. Now they they are just victims, knowing that even great play isn’t enough to make it to the playoffs. I wouldn’t care either.

  9. Patrick Says:

I just talked to my dad on the phone. He thinks Luke McCown is going to kick our ass next week!!!

  10. Leighroy Says:

Your dad is probably right 🙁

  11. Oahubuc Says:

I don’t even know the final score. I’m switching from Bucs games for the first time ever.

  12. eric Says:

every team has a few bright spots. otherwise you would see aa team routinely scorched for 35-40 pts each week.

    oh wait a minute……….

    never mind.

  13. sandbagrudy Says:

I thought this team might have been able to win at least 7 games but what does that get you anyhow. I don’t see any player comming into this years draft that can make this any better. I’m totally disgusted with this organization they are not committed to putting a winning team on the field. How long can you pass off the fat cross eyed chick as the prom queen this is out right ugly. Please Glasers sell this team to someone who cares about the sport you have litterally made this team into a running joke

  14. Leighroy Says:

How DARE the Glazers demand season ticket holders PAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS for this joke of a product.

This organization used to be first class, Joe. I think that was your main point?

Nothing the Glazers say or do anymore (check that EVERYTHING they SAY and NOTHING they DO) is first class anymore. It’s sad really.

I have supported morris all along and have said that he needs to surround himself with a veteran coaching staff as well as add a few veterans on each side of the ball. I no linger think that is enough unless we beat dallas and atlanta. Jags and carolina don’t count in my mind those two games would not be enough to keep morris if we do win them. This team has some talent we need a coach who knows how to use it and will attract veteran free agents as well

  16. Fear The Glo Says:

Would Monte Kiffin have a defense this bad 3 years in a row?

  17. below me Says:

    change is needed

  18. aldo Says:

look, i tryed to support raheem and still think thomas is an idiot, but rah has to go, good man, but an awful coach, football is not about cheerleading, even less talk without backing it…. jeff fisher could be a man.

i will thank rah the fact he give us interesting players like freeman, mike will or benn, the DLine looks promising, mason foster, but more than that, we cant afford rah much more

  19. eric Says:

not one year in a row

  20. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Hmmm…what about Rob Ryan as HC?

  21. eric Says:

only question is how long will it take to recover from the rebuild.

  22. Patrick Says:

    @Fear the Glo

It’s real laughable how when someone great leaves this organization, whether it’s a player or coach, they can’t replace them with anyone halfway decent.

Monte left and Raheem replaced him……horrible regression.

Brooks was released……only to have Quincy Jane Black and Geno Hayes.

Cadillac leaves…….and a cheap Kregg Lumpkin is just given his roster spot.

And Raheem, is not even anywhere near as good as Gruden was. Gruden would have at least 6 or 7 wins with this bad team.

  23. Patrick Says:

    @eric

LMAO we’re going to have to rebuild from the rebuild.

  24. Patrick Says:

How bout Mike Sherman as HC? He did very well with the Packers from 2000-2005. He just got fired from Texas A&M so he’s available.

    I think he’d be a good choice.

Bring in Mike Sherman as HC, Norv Turner as OC, and Jack Del Rio in as DC. That’d be a hell of a coaching staff.

  25. Leighroy Says:

That would be a hell of a coaching staff that has a 0% chance of happening. Mike Sherman is done in the nfl, and no way Norv Turner settle for anything less than a HC job.

Keep fishing though, I like the idea of Jeff Fisher for HC, but am gunna pass on Rob Ryan. Charlie Strong anyone??

  26. Pete Dutcher Says:

    @Patrick
Del Rio is a 3-4 DC isn’t he? Too late in the game to switch to 3-4 now.

  27. Pete Dutcher Says:

Of course, it could be the new rules have made Tampa 2 useless now.
