Patriots 31, Impotent Bucs 14

Patriots 31, Bucs 14

What a horrible game this was. The Patriots manhandled the Bucs when both first teams were on the field. Joe was stone sober but he swore to a higher authority he saw the ghost of Jim Bates lurking at The CITS.

The Patriots played like they just got off Nevin Shaprio’s boat. It was the varsity against the junior varsity and the Pats were the varsity.

Joe will have much more tonight as you watch the first airing of the game on either Joe’s partner WTSP-TV Channel 10 or on the man’s channel, the NFL Network.

Joe didn’t go over the top when the Bucs dominated the Chiefs last week, and Joe’s not about to act like a screaming child who just lost his lunch money after the Bucs’ regulars were annihilated by the Patriots tonight.

It was a clean knockout, as Josh Freeman and his fellow first-teamers couldn’t generate a first down, and Tom Brady and friends racked up 28 first-half points with ease.

The ghost of Jim Bates was back with the Bucs gashed left and right against the run. The Pats averaged a whopping 7 1/2 yards a carry in the first half, 22 carries for 144 yards. For Joe, this was the most glaring statistic. The Bucs have to find away to stop the bleeding.

Not happy with the outocme tonight but im glad it’s pre-season.
The bucs looked tired and unmotivated tonight. Freeman now has two shaky games in a row. Let’s hope he shakes off the dust before week 1.

    my thoughts.

Rah was SCHOOLED by the best coach in the league right now, period

McCoy looks fine to me, Clayborn was above average, Okam was Great, the others in DL, BS

they where no offense at all, absolutly awful, no run, no pass, just a good back up, but thats not what we need to hear…..

Grimm and Gaitor were great, amazing talent at the 7th, mack just the pick, but im not solg on him,

Dekoda Watson looks great, im not sure what people thinks, but i would love to see him in WLB position, Geno Hayes is not the superstar we all want, maybe dekoda is, Foster hits like a man, i like that guy

i hope tomorrow they take note about this blowout, was a shame, tonite, majority of the guys didnt respect that jersey who were wearing, didnt respect the legacy that guys like selmos, brooks, sapp, lynch, alstott, and more left to us

Go ahead Thomas, the floor is yours…..

No doubt the highlight of the game was when the two worlds that are Cody Grimm met Danny Woodhead in the hole to create a collision of epic proportions. 🙂

    Aldo,

How can 3/4 of the starting line be fine/great and get absolutly smashed for 7 and 1/2 yards a carry>?

They only got penetration when the pats let them on designed screens. They got mauled and looked like kids out there with men.

They have to get better and really fast or were in for a VERY long season.

O-line got beat every way imaginable. The got over powered, out schemed, and penalized. At times True blood was standing there blocking no one with 3 guys running free of the right side. I sat and my seat and did not even stand up to clap for the entire first half. Worst half of a football I have ever seen.

Well Jets 09 and Giants 07 were worse, but only because they counted.

/Done rant, I’m swearing off Sports media until Saturday.

  6. Eric Says:

Ah well, only two more fiasco preseason “games” to go.

    I hate these things.

  7. jlynch Says:

still down on trueblood… penn and faine turnstyles!!!

  8. Macabee Says:

After reading all the glowing comments supporting the Bucs leading up to this game, I am just blown away at the number of fairweather fans that are out there. I don’t care about the game, but this type of response, I didn’t expect. The things that we like about this “youngry” team are the very things that will doom us from time to time. This is the time to cheer them on to get better, because I can assure you every game will not be like this one – just a bump along the road.

  9. Eric Says:

    Is Rah getting chunky?

  10. jlynch Says:

does chunky mean out coached??? id say he is obese!!

  11. nick Says:

So every time the Bucs lose it’s going to be because of Rah being out coached? Is that how it’s gonna be?

  12. Jason Says:

WTF is with the NFL Network replay? The studio throws to Bucs/Pats game and they flip on tape of last week’s Falcons/Dolphins instead. grrrr….

  13. mikeck Says:

Yeah, it was a bad game…maybe a good reality check for a team that got a little cocky after week one. On another note….not sure I agree that this is the second shaky game for freeman in a row???? I thought he looked good in game one. Not sure what you were seeing Canadabuc

  14. SRQBucFan Says:

It was good for them to get beat like that. It will humble them and they will work harder to be better. They just went against what true champions really are. I think it was a great learning experience.

In all that chaos i saw some bright spots. Dekota Watson is really coming on as of late. i think he has a real shot at taking over Hayes spot. Gaitor is playing strong. i like him as a nickel corner. Foster hits HARD. I’m really starting to like this kid.

  15. mikeck Says:

Look guys, as much as we like Raheem ( and I do) he did get out coached. Everyone did. Our o-line never adjusted to the d-line play, our secondary looked lost….etc. that’s ok. We just saw what happens when a young cocky team that didn’t get camps and.OTAs plays a veteran championship quality team that doesnt need camps and OTAs.

We were the US army at the Kasserine pass in 1942. We thought we were a lot better than we really are and got cocky. The pats played the part of the German Africa corps and they ate our lunch. It’s pre season…for everyone….coaches too.

  16. Architek Says:

Lets get back to work Bucs, all is not lost. You see who is what and I tell you I seen some veterans getting whooped. I saw Faine, Joseph, and Trueblood getting WHOOPED. I like what I saw from McCoy. They couldn’t block him…but the Linebackers must be ready. We will get better and grow as the season progress.

  17. Nate Says:

Well i guess im happy this game was blacked outta my life..

  18. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Listen people, you don’t get out coached in the preseason, period. They don’t really gameplan against each other! We got beat, badly. It’s an exhibition. Move on. If Detroit does this to us, then get worried.

  19. admin Says:

    Joe here,

@HawaiianBuc — Interestingly, Belichick was asked this week about preparing for a preseason game, and he slightly snapped at a reporter’s suggestion that you don’t gameplan for a preseason game. …Belichick said he does because that’s football, and he talked about how you need to see players excecute a gameplan in order to properly evaluate them.

  20. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Joe,

That is interesting. From everything I’ve heard, NFL teams don’t normally do that. However, hopefully that explains why they are blowing teams out so far in the preseason. This is the Patriots, and they definitely do things their own way (it works so you can’t criticize). They even had their starting running back on special teams late in the fourth quarter. As soon as finds the rest of his head, he may be able to play again.

That’s probably a good reason why you can’t take too much from the preseason. Teams approach the game differently. It worked to our advantage against KC, but tonight – not so much. I just can’t wait for Sept. 11.

  21. CanadaBuc Says:

    mikeck …
Last week Freeman made passes but majorty of them were high. His game in week 1 was decent but not great. Last night most of the blame can be put on the O-line. When he did have time to pass it wasn’t pretty. I have faith though……. the bucs still have alot of rust they have to shake off.
