The Value Of Open Workouts

May 25th, 2011

"Leaders lead, man."

Recently, Joe offered up a kind request to Bucs unquestioned team leader and quarterback Josh Freeman that he open up a workout or two for the fans.

This notion was largely shot down by many of Joe’s readers as bordering on insurgency if not outright sedition.

In this NOLA.com video that is surely to leave union-first Bucs center Jeff Faine truly confused, Saints center Drew Brees explains not just the importance of having open workouts, but inviting the fans to participate as he did recently in New Orleans.

Now before any Bucs fans go crazy, please note that not only is Brees an NFLPA leader, the lawsuit the NFLPA filed against the NFL owners bears Brees’ name, not Faine’s. After listening to Brees and then read Faine’s words as to why he’s not working out with his teammates, it strangely rings hollow.

In Faine’s defense, Brees does not own a haberdashery.

Hurray a real captain, clearly something faine is not…

Can somebody shut faine up? This is bs, I cant take faine’s selfish attitude anymore. faine needs to be held accountable…whether its freeman/another player calling him out or the rock star cutting his ass, either is fine with me.

must be nice being a saints fan and participating and not having your team act like their in the witness protection program

This guy has really struck a nerve with me over the last few months!

    So here comes the rant…

I can see why Faine is such a good business man. He comes across as a ruthless SOB with no loyalty to anyone who doesn’t have their face on US currency. Ive met a few men like that and none of them have ever wanted for anything. It’s a great trait to have if your only ambition in life is having a large bank account.

It seems like he found his passion selling d-bag clothing and making various other investments while earning his main income playing a team sport….unfortunately.

It’s unfortunate for “his” team that he’s somehow forgotten that all of those investments and profits were made possible by a guy simply trying to help his team win and not some guy dreaming of dominating the fashion market.

    So piss off then Faine!

It shouldn’t be hard for Mr. Dominik to replace this “entrepreneur” with a real football player… they’re pretty easy to spot. They’re the guys working their asses off when nobody is paying them to do so.

They AREN’T the guys putting their teammates down while praising division rivals and selling t-shirts and skinny jeans after their teammates have invited them to come and help workout.

If this chump is on our team next season I will be really disappointed. If he is ever elected Team Captain again I will be gobsmacked. It worries me knowing that this is the type of person negotiating for Bucs players in this whole fiasco.

Never apologize for a rant man.
