Watch out Joe! Jeff does a great job talking to the camera! The four letter demon might be watching, and come take him from you. I’m looking forward to the next one!

  2. OB Says:

This is what most of us need, where and how the different named players play. Can’t wait for the next one. Please archive them so we can go back to them if necessary.

Great first show, when is the next one?

  3. GurS Says:

Pretty interesting, having played the sport at uni not that much new lol but I can imagine if I didn’t, I’d find it really interesting & useful

  4. guest Says:

    ditto what OB said

Nice presentation Jeff-these videos showcase your football knowledge that wasn’t as evident on your prior blogs.

  6. Capt.Tim Says:

Great, great stuff Jeff! Really well done and nice presentation!
Can you please do the Buc fans a favor? Can you diagram the traditional role of the middle linebacker in the Tampa defense? So many people have been so down on Hardy,Shelton, and Barrett. They don’t really understand how much coverage responsibility they have in the Tampa 2. It would clear up one of the longest raging debates here at JoeBuc.
Again- great work! You could make a career outta doing that! Thanks again!

    luv it

Good stuff. Add some actual game footage to show how what’s being outlined looks on the field and you will have a great format.

NFL says no. They are very, very, very strict on usage of their footage.

Im glad your doing this X’s and O’s series Jeff but just a little constructive criticism. You weren’t incredibly concise with your explanations and seemed to interrupt yourself and go off on a tangent quite a bit. If you streamline things a little bit this feature should be great.

  11. MichiganBucsFan Says:

Agree with gitarlvr, it did seem like you got ahead of yourself a couple times there, but overall good stuff. Can’t wait till we get into the more in depth stuff.

    CaptTim,
“Can you diagram the traditional role of the middle linebacker in the Tampa defense?”
The great Mr. White could do that for us in his sleep and wish he would!

  13. gitarlvr Says:

OAR- If you google, passing on the game, Barrett Ruud, Steve White wrote a blog post a ways back detailing exactly what Ruud’s responsibility is in Tampa’s defense and what his opinion of him is.

  14. JDouble Says:

Appreciate the effort. Nice feature. Maybe you could cover the difference in man coverage based defenses and zone, and how that effects what kind of CBs fit Tampa.

Also, I keep hearing how Rah’s defense no longer features the WLB as the most important LB and that SLB is just as important now. Maybe you could explain this?

Great show! Really looking forward to the next installment.

Only thing I would say I didn’t like is a simple fix. Raise the white board up about a foot higher, then Jeff can use the board more easily.

I would like to see the affects against a 3-4 & 4-3 of how when we motion out a RB/TE how this changes the play of the Defense. We hear it again and again that this shows the hand of the Defense but a visual of this would help me understand what is actually going on.

    Great job Joe!
