Williams Sets New Rookie Record

December 26th, 2010

As Mike Williams slugs it out with LeGarrette Blount for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award (Joe won’t consider Sam Bradford), the Bucs’ young receiver has a new rookie record of 10 receiving touchdowns.

Lars Tate, who had eight TDs as a rookie in 1988, is the Buccaneer Williams knocked out of the record books Sunday when Josh Freeman hit him for an easy 20 yard TD to put the Bucs up 16-7.

Williams now has 62 catches for 924 yards.

Joe is convinced the Bucs have enough weapons to win a shootout with New Orleans, even with Arrelious Benn knocked out with a seemingly serious knee injury. Hey, a guy can dream about more than Rachel Watson.

How serious is Benn’s knee injury??? I didn’t hear much of anything about it.

  2. Pruritis Ani Says:

As far back as I can remember as a Bucs fan, I ve never seen a rookie come in and make an immediate impact like this guy. Week after week the guy comes to play.

Ditto on BamBam’s question regarding Benn.. any news?

    BamBamBuc:

Other than he was in street clothes on crutches on the bench in the second half, likely won’t know the severity until Rah’s press conference tomorrow.

In short, it doesn’t look good at all.

  4. Tyshaun Says:

Didn’t Randy Moss score 17 TDs as a rookie ????

  5. Bucman22 Says:

Wait we talkin Bucs or NFL..thought mike will broke claytons rookie td record, and didn’t moss have like 17 his rookie yr

  6. Jamie Says:

Sam Bradford’s team is going to finish with a losing record in the worst division in football. Mike Williams is the leading receiver on a winning team in perhaps the toughest division in football.

    NO BRAINER!

  7. Rican Says:

Amen to that Joe, I am convinced as well!
