Were The Bucs Trying To Trade Sabby?

December 3rd, 2010

There are certain people in life, in general, that can be trusted. Doctors spring to mind to Joe. Clerics would be another.

In general, believing a player’s agent is akin to believing a telemarketer, or worse. They, as a group, are hardly pillars of accuracy. So color Joe suspicious when he read the line, reported by Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune, coming from Sabby’s agent Ken Harris, that the Bucs had tried to trade Sabby earlier this year.

“Things just got off track a little there with the Bucs, but in response to that, I just can’t say enough about how accommodating the team was to Sabby’s wishes,” said his agent, Ken Harris, who would not say what caused Piscitelli to become disgruntled.

“When I say management was stellar in this situation, I mean they were amazing. It’s not often you find management groups that are as interested in what’s best for the young man as what’s best for the team, but they were.”

Well, first off, Harris isn’t dumb. He’s not going to go scorched earth on the Bucs. He has other clients of course and why burn bridges?

Now Joe is not trying to lump all agents into one pot. Super agent Ralph Cindrich is one of the class acts of the profession and in Joe’s eyes is above reproach. But let’s not get off track here, Harris is trying to salvage what can be salvaged out of Sabby’s career, given that his contract is up after this season.

Now the element that Joe does believe from Harris is the part that rock star Mark Dominik indeed tried to trade Sabby. If Dominik was able to find some sap willing to cough up even a seventh round pick (look what Dominik has been able to do with seventh round picks even), why not jump at the chance?

7th round picks are overrated. Mark is picking up guys that were drafted in the 4th 5th and 6th rounds from practice squads.

    No biggie.

I am thinking Cory Lynch now, didn’t he have a pretty darn good pre-season?

7th round picks are overrated but if you can get one instead of just cutting a guy… do it.

7th round picks are overrated ? with every post it becomes more clear how little you actually know about football. No question you are the class clown on this site. Lol. Sabby is yet another terrible pick by the last regime.

Yeah these 7th rounders are completely overrated:

    TJ Houshmanzadeh
    Donald Driver
    Patrick Crayton
    Leon Lett
    Bo Jackson
    Marques Colston
    Shannon Sharpe
    Adam Timmerman
    Jamal Anderson
    Ahmad Bradshaw
    Cortland Finnegan
    Jay Ratliff
    Matt Cassel
    LaRod Howling-Stevens
    Madison Hedgecock

    There’s plenty others as well…

7th rounders overrated? Make your own opinion! Here’s a chart of every 7th rnd draft pick from 2004 to 2010(active players in bold):

Tom Brady was a sixth round pick… just saying.

You can go back further on the draft list link. It just shows first 300 players per page(hence just the 2004-2010 drafts). Besides I think it makes the point. 7th rounders usually have more to prove, so it makes sense they’re not too overrated!

Ya Buc You, You’re right I’d hate to have an offense with Peyton Hillis, Justin Forsett, ahmed bradshaw and Jason Snelling in the backfield.

Freeman would hate to have to toss the ball to Colston, God hating Steve Johnson, & Craytonl…Fitzpatrick and Cassell couldn’t cut it as back up QB’s for us.

Cortlan Finnegrin Probably isn’t violent enough for defense in your eyes as wel

We should also cut Cody Grimm, Dekota Watson right now.

    Thanks for the insight!!!

Yeah, those 4th, 5th and 6th rounders for other teams were probably graded out as 7th rounders or worse by Dominik. Way to make zero sense.

I think Buc You has bated some of you…7th rounders are the LOWEST rated players in the draft, so they really can not be overrated. Silly Buc You.
