This Ain’t College Football: A Win Is A Win

September 14th, 2010

Derek “Old School” Fournier of WhatTheBuc.net is frustrated that Bucs fans are griping about a win. So frustrated is Derek that he’s about to turn purple like a Martian. He explains why Bucs fans should be raising glasses over what happened in the second half of Sunday’s win against the Browns.

Here, Here! This aint the BCS. Who cares where we rank on Power Rankings. It’s about W’s and standings.

  7. McBuc Says:

I have been saying this since Sunday night. Why can Bucs fans not enjoy this win? When we beat Cleveland you hear “oh, the Browns suck that is why the Bucs won”, and when they beat the Saints it was “Oh, the saints laid down and overlooked the Bucs”. It is aggravating at best!

  8. Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

A win is a win, and it stopped the Cleveland fans at the game from Barking too!

NEWS: Bucs released Erik Lorig to make room for Talib.

Old School you’re right.I enjoyed the Bucs win and looking forward to another one Sunday.

  11. Dave Says:

He is absolutely correct. This win was big because it is an opening day win for a very young team.

People like ERIC “EL Douche” willbich and whine no matter what so I suggest we all just ignore the whiner from now on.

No one here is saying they are suddenly going to the SB.
No one is saying they do not have a lot of work to do.

All that is being said is: a win is a win and for this young team it meant alot.

    +1

It should be obvious that the people bitching aren’t mad about the W itself. They hate the fact that Rah and Dom are in charge and got the win. They want Rah to fail more then they actually want the team to win. Laughable!

  14. Derek "OldSchool" Fournier Says:

Thanks Joe. New office and lighting is a bitch (though I will neither confirm nor deny my alleged martian roots)

A loss is a loss. And even in the win, there is a ton to look at for improvement. I was just amazed when on the first set of forums I went to it was all negativity. Even in the stadium it was there.

We are a long way away but each positive event can be leveraged to motivate this young squad.

Would it have been better to look like world beaters? Sure. But we went out and got the best result we could against the only team we could play that day.

  15. Mr. Lucky Says:

Hey Derek, I heard of people talking until they were blue in the face but purple? COME ON MAN!!!!

I don’t get the negative vibe. Heck I’m not a Raheem supporter but even I acknowledge that the Browns win is a move in the right direction. Sure I COULD complain about the O-line or other things but after going 3-13?

In fact after watching Carolina play I believe that the Bucs actually have a shot at winning against the Panthers.

  16. Patrick Says:

I agree. I was very happy with that win against the Browns, even though there’s a lot that still concerns me. Our red zone offense at the end of the game was really bad. We were down near the goal line on two straight possessions and could’ve put it way out of reach but we didn’t. We’re lucky our defense was able to hold up one last time.

  17. BigMacAttack Says:

One thing is for Doggone sure, and that is, This Team Has Not Peaked! Not even close! They are in their infancy as Raheem’s comment stated. They are going to get better. It will take teaching, it will take trial and error, and mistakes. Cleveland had high hopes to start the season, and their Optimism Meter dropped by about 50%, in one game, against a rookie team, with a floppy Coach. Do not underestimate this team. They are young, strong, and the best thing any team can have, is 4’th Quarter Conditioning and Presence. They looked pretty good late in the game. So I hope they will continue to improve until week 17, but at the very least, I would think it will be about Week 7 or 8 before they really start to hit their stride. Keep making adjustments, and give it 110% on each and every play without getting discouraged. Other teams will score, they will get burned, but move on and learn from it. Raheem even had a little Swagger going on Monday. I like that. Go Bucs!!!

I loved the win. 7 more to go please.
