Gerald McCoy Talks Highs And Lows, Sapp

Hit with a caller question on his radio show to identify early screwups and I’ve-arrived moments, Gerald McCoy didn’t hold back Tuesday night on WDAE-AM 620.
“There’s been a few of those ‘What the heck did I dos.’ McCoy said. “So I can’t really point one out in particular because there have been numerous. You kind of get that as a rookie. …There have been a few plays. The fourth quarter of the Cleveland game, you know, we got some good rushes on Jake Delhomme. So it was then that I said, ‘You know what, it’s crunch time. It’s time to be clutch. It’s time to get it going up front.’ And we did that. So it was then that I said, ‘Hey, I can play this game.”
As for arriving and succeeding in the NFL, McCoy gives credit, in part, to Warren Sapp. Responding to a fan question about his relationship with Sapp, McCoy said the following:
“We pretty cool, man. He took me under his wing,” McCoy said. “He always makes himself, you know, convenient for me. He always makes it easy for me to contact him and he frequently checks in on me. I mean he checks in on me a lot. And he’s just been such a good role model to me by showing me different things he did and how he played and how he thought. It’s helping me out a lot.”
McCoy went on to explain that he’s waiting on Sapp’s film grades for his first two games. He also talked about how excited he is to be consistently playing all positions along the defensive line.
Again, Joe’s impressed by McCoy’s poise behind the mike. No. 93 also went on to say how he loves to “embrace” quality barbecue.

It is good to hear that sapp is staying involved in helping this young man out… i just hope he is doing the same for price

Hey Gerald – whatever Sapp teaches you on the field be a sponge man. Sapp was a HOF player.
BUT when it comes to off the field stuff – JUST SAY NO!!! But then again with all the cash you got from that signing bonus maybe you can pay to have a chick in every city too!

McCoy brings the same maturity and class to the defense, that Freeman has brought to the offense! You just can’t help but hope for these dedicated young men to suceed!! As yet another player from the previous regime proves he is a waste of talent(tJax), we come to realize more and more that Character is just as important as talent. A really talented player, serving a years suspension- is far worse than a hard working player of average talent. I know who I support!! And a high character, high skill level player Is the guys you want to build a team around! Not some self centered loser like T Jackoff

As long as he keeps listening to Sapp for ON THE FIELD help and not how Sapp hanlded himself off the field… where Sapp had the reputation of being a horses A$$$$$$$$$$

That was a quote from the Movie” Jaws”. It’s where they are chumming the water, talking about luring Sharks to the surface! Geez, you guys haven’t seen “Jaws”- that was a fairly famous exchange!!

Miguel…I speak in public, and I have called coworkers that I have known for 10 years the wrong name. That just happens some times. It really is a non issue. I have also done videos for my company, and the camera makes it 100 times harder. I would rather talk in front of 500 people than 1 camera. He said Greg, big freaking deal.
