In The House: 46,178

January 3rd, 2010

Tom Balog, of the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, made the phone call to the Tampa Sports Authority and got the actual attendance for today’s Buccaneers game.

The total: 46, 178 (about 19,000 empty seats).

That’s actually pretty impressive. The Bucs only drew 49,000+ fans in the house for the then-undefeated Saints earlier this season. And nobody moaned about the emptiness of crowd on that day.

For a cold-weather, meaningless game, it could have been a lot worse today.

Joe, keep in mind the Bucs were on the longest winning streak of the season! And when we played the Saints, we had lost the previous game. Not quite comparable in my mind.

  2. Jeff Says:

Bright side…We get the #3 pick. KC is beating the sh!t out of the Broncos.

  5. justin Says:

  6. Pruritis Ani Says:

Thanks for the clarification Joe… I don’t think my stomach could take it tonight if the story was true.

Incidentally, I think the Sports Authority was padding the numbers..

No problem. Please understand Joe’s not taking zach to task. Sometimes Joe himself thinks he heard one thing only to find out it’s not true.

Joe really appreciates his readers looking out for him, tipping him off to tidbits they hear.

Joe I went on the web site and it said that raheem has been given the thumds up of approval after the saints game

That was a report posted on ProFootballTalk.com which ran last night about midnight and Joe wrote about this report shortly thereafter.

In short, Joe is dubious of a report coming from a radio guy in Amarillo, Tex.

  10. justin Says:

zech that story on 620 is the same one that was released earlier today it was from a guy in who did it on his twitter page no one has confirmed this report it just a guy who posted it on his twitter account if it was true the glazers would of said it by now

  11. zech Says:

Thanks joe for the clarification I mean I was gettn kinda worried I just don’t understand y post it if its not true I mean profootballtalk.com is hardly ever wrong!

In the original report, Florio claims this guy in Amarillo, Tex. has a good track record. Also, in his report (see link above) Joe lays out how, maybe, possibly, one could connect the dots how some guy in far west Texas who doesn’t cover the Bucs would know more than someone in Florida covering the Bucs, or Jason La Canfora who covers the NFL for the NFL Network/

Again, Joe is at best skeptical.

How many no shows does it take to exact change? All we can do as fans is boycott. We have owners who have no idea about how to assemble a winning football team. However their daddy showed them how to make money. P.T. Barhnam said it best. “There is one born every minute”. That is what they think the average fan is. A SUCKER!! Don’t fall for it. Make those money hungry bastards change or sell the franchise. They want soccer then let’s tell them to commit to soccer. Quit listening to Joe and the local media that are trying to sugar coat everything. DEMAND CHANGE!! It’s no different than Joe and his media buddies did last season. Look where we are now. What did we win, 2or3 games?

  14. TpaBayFlyFisher Says:

There are reports out of Coral Gables that a certain former Steeler HC has contacted potential assistant coaches [Whipple]………not saying, just saying…………Fly has mixed emotions on this one……………

  15. Joe Says:

    LOL Fly’s sources LOL!!

Fly, it’s somewhat common knowledge Cowher began assembling a team of people to bring with him a few weeks ago. Joe talked about this with Jason La Canfora last week. 🙂

So your sources are correct. 🙂

Wow this Fly fellow is better than Nostradamos–better than the Oracle at Delphi! Fly I need to know the winner of the next 10 World series please–the 73 Chevy Kingswood Estate Station Wagon is showing her age–pushing 300,000 on the odometer–I’m maybe 2-3 years away from retiring the old girl. Any and all financial advice you could give me would be mucho appreciated if you know what I mean! Trust me baby you’d have your own personal plastic tankard hanging off the Pabst keg at every game!

Joe–as far as seated patrons–saw them move turnstiles to front of Ladies Rooms on end zone sections before halftime–so I guess the “seated” part is not 100% untrue…..
