In Honor Of Championship Sunday

January 22nd, 2010

Joe got a lot of reaction to the post yesterday about Derrick Brooks calling the Bucs win over the Eagles in the 2003 NFC Championship game as the Bucs “Super Bowl.”

In honor of that game, here you go:

I’ve probably watched that part of the Superbowl DVD 100 times. Brooks is right. That truly was the greatest game in Buccaneers history. When Barber snagged that interception, I just about fell to my knees in tears. The Superbowl was just icing on the cake.

    Joe,

I went straight home last night and pulled out the Super Bowl dvd and watched it all the way through. I still get goose bumps watching the other Joes 71 yard catch and run and then of course the Barber interception is probably the biggest play in franchise history.

It’s nice to know that even as bad as the team has been lately no one can ever take that win away from us.

We need some stars again. Thanks. D-money, on that DVD did you see alstott in the cleveland game. My god.

WOW- with everything that’s gone on this year, I appreciate that season now more than ever. That was a great team. HOFs all across the Board. Simeon, Sapp, Lynch, Brooks and that is not even including Alstot, McCardell, Keyshawn, Pittman, Dwight Smith and Dexter Jackson. Amazing amazing amazing.

This WAS the greatest game in Bucs History, and the most incredible sports moment in my life. I literally blacked out and fell to my knees when Rhonde picked-six! I got goose bumps all over just watching it again. Thanks Joe for reminding us Buc fans of the good times, so we can stay strong in our faith that they will return someday!

I don’t care what they say about living in the past, that was the most awesome, most wonderful group of player in Buccaneer’s history. You can never erase that year from our memories. Best coaches, best players, best of everything! Thank’s for the memories!

  12. Jeff Says:

Clearly the players couldn’t trust Gruden. Wish the talking heads on Sports Radio didn’t drive away the best coach the Bucs will probably ever have. Such fools.

alan thanks joe for posting that video. i haven’t watched that in a while and it brought tears to my eyes as sad as it may be for some people to believe that. for me the greatest game was the detroit playoff game in ’97 after all those horrible years but man that philly game was special. i still remember running out the front door as soon as barber picked off the pass. running all over the neighborhood like a little kid. memories like those are the only thing getting me through these times. thanks joe.
