Raheem Haters Dealt Crushing Blow

December 20th, 2009

Joe is quite aware that legions of Bucs fans believe Raheem The Dream is an immature, inexperienced, incompetent boob of a head coach.

Hey, Joe himself has shaken his head in stunned disbelief by many of the moves, statements and double-speak of Coach Rah. And Joe has documented just about all of them. It hasn’t been pretty.

But Joe has never called for Raheem The Dream’s head because Joe has believed he deserved a chance to get through more games and had yet to reach a point of no return.

Plus, there has been tangible evidence of major improvement on defense, which gave Raheem more rope, in Joe’s eyes.

Now the Bucs have blown out Seattle on the road, 24-7. A difficult feat for any team. The win feels good.

The Bucs actually dominated the entire second half and, after one of the ugliest first halves of NFL football in recent memory (by both teams), the Bucs made effective adjustments on both sides of the ball.

Make no mistake. This is a huge accomplisment for the young Bucs. And, if the Bucs play good football in their final two games, Joe would bet Raheem The Dream will return no matter what.

Joe recognizes that will make scores of fans unhappy.

Got alot of conflicting emotions today. The win feels nice, but did we really play good? or did the Seahawks just play extremely bad? All I know for sure is our chances of getting Suh just fell signifigantly and our chances of keeping Rheem just increased.

Wish we could run the ball like that every week. I also wish Geno Hayes was 20lbs bigger so I could be extremely excited about him. Hope TJax isn’t hurt too bad.

Looks like Olsen is finally feeling the heat. Maybe Radio told him that he would blame him today?? About time you put in a screen pass. Only 10 weeks too late. They must read Steve Whites column 69 as a tight end!!

No Joe..say it ain’t so! I want Bill Cowher and nothing less!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Joe, This game may have been “Radio’s Revenge”, but I still haven’t changed my opinion of the idiot. I knew he would screw us on the draft on the way out the door. He still needs to be fired and a REAL coach brought in.

Ill say that I know like I know rah will be there at least one more year…. The team is improving weather yall like it or not

JDub, I thought the Seahawks played poorly. The Bucs played OK but the Seahawks did their part. This win is only good if they can build on this and show some improvement next week against the Saints. They don’t have to win but they better be able to get more than five first downs.

Joe, one game does not a trend make. You must be honest with yourself and look at the hawks as a team that has laid down on their coach as well. They played incredibly uninspired ball. Olson still came out throwing the ball and looked like he started running the ball out of necessitty and, gasp Freeman settled down and played a pretty good game. The Bucs are coming off of a game that they must’ve been embarassed. That being said, there has been a myriad of coaching blunders this season and we still have two games before all is right and Raheem gets another season as our head coach.

Now I was impressed by the way we came out on defense. The way the linebackers played was really impressive. I think Raheem has true potential as the Defensive Coordinator and I do believe that he could have a possible future as the Head Coach. Still need to a hire of some sort like an veteran coach that could mentor the head coach (Raheem) that could be up in the booth on the headset to Rah…That guy needs to be somebody who would really want Rah to suceed and would take a very special guy, somebody that would stay behind the scenes and somebody Rah could really trust. The only guy that I could think of to do it is Dungy and that would be the ultimate in Christian forgiveness towards the Glazers for him to do it, assuming he Glazers would eat enough crow to beg him to come in.

Rasta Man! That was funny dude

While I think it was nice to get a win and perhaps some of my fellow Buc fans can be taken off their suicide watch, I think this feeling/experience will be short lived.

I dont think Raheem can do this on a consistent basis and he’s proven that at least 14 different times this year. I fear, should he remain, this whole conversation will be repeated next year.

I just don’t think the guy is capable of being an effective/winning coach at this stage of his career. Yeah he won today and I am happy and impressed. WInning on the road, in December is something that the Bucs do not do well..historically.

I think we won today for a couple of reasons
    1. Seahawks didn’t take the game seriously and didn’t prepare.
    2. Bucs ran the ball well and made the proper adjustments at half time.

I have already seen enough of this clown. You know, the sun will rise in the east and set in the west, you WILL get something 90% of the time. In baseball, the general rule of thumb (according to George Will, I believe) is you get 60 wins and 60 losses straight out front, and the “middle” is up to your operation (baseball ops, field manager, overall talent, strategy). Not by any means a law, but generally I do believe that is an axiom.

The same I believe holds true in football. And by NO MEANS does this win change my believe in Coach Morris. A good man BADLY outgunned and getting less (for any number of reasons) than what he should have got or COULD get. And ask yourself, is 6-10 in 2010 “palatable”? What does ownership want? Is this a new era in mediocrity? This is precisely why hard questions need to be asked. Does one year make a career? Of course not, but enough bells and whistles have gone off in my mind to say goodbye to Morris and Dominik.

  13. Tom Says:

It is obvious that right now, Coach Morris’ “maturity” is the key of heart here. Obviously he understands the game of football, I don’t doubt that, but the very nature of this column was meant to upset some people. Come on now, most professional football teams are going to win at least ONE road game a year now. Blind squirrels will find those proverbial acorns.

If fans aren’t going to show up and are not “entertained” by the Buccaneer product, then why should Coach Morris be retained? Again, where are you heading and leading towards? And I know there is so much more to this issue, but economics and ego are at work here to. Don’t take my word for it, go talk to friends in the gym, peers at work, they know what the see STILL. You make your bed in the heart of the season, and when the chips were down, this team was highly inconsistent. And I don’t see where this is going or what they (Morris and Dominik) want to be or want to accomplish. So, why retain them?

  14. Louie Says:

Today’s win was a big accomplishment — Morris is one of the few Bucs coaches to win on the west coast. However, it was against a team that appears to have packed it in for the year.

If the Bucs are competitive next week in New Orleans and beat Atlanta, then Morris probably keeps his job. Anything less than that, and he’s gone.
