How Bout That Running Game

December 20th, 2009

It wasn’t pretty, and it never has to be.

The Bucs finally, finally, finally stuck with the running game (even threw some screens, gasp) and had success with it.

Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward combined for 31 carries and 133 yards, and each broke runs of 20+ yards.

What a novel concept: move the chains, keep the defense off the field, keep the rookie quarterback out an endless stream of tough down-and-distance situations.

Yes, Joe knows Seattle is a bad team. But it really doesn’t matter. The Bucs stayed away from cute and stuck with tough.

It should have been that way all season.
