More Stargazing For Freeman

Raheem The Dream said he gave bust-in-waiting quarterback Josh Freeman an R-rated earful after poor practices.

It appears Raheem The Dream has taken the gloves off when dealing with all his players, including his prized young bride quarterback Josh Freeman.

The ink is still wet on the kid’s fat contract and Raheem The Dream is ripping him a new one for his performance, so The Dream told Steve Duemig, the dean of Tampa Bay sports radio on 620 WDAE-AM, The Sports Animal, on Monday afternoon.

Duemig: How do do you treat a kid like Josh [Freeman] when he has a bad afternoon [like he did Sunday]. How do you talk to him, or Greg [Olson]. …

Raheem The Dream: I don’t know if I can say it on the air. (Laughs)…It was a direct board shot. I didn’t beat around the bush on it. I’ll tell you exactly what [Freeman] said. …’Man I looked around seeing Byron and Luke throwing touchdowns and I tried to force one.’ … … [Freeman’s] been throwing [in the offseason] to wide receivers, sheets on the goalposts, but you can’t simulate the speed. …

So the learning curve continues for Freeman, as it should. He comes as advertised, talented and raw. And he’s gotten a little caught up in the magnitude of his surroundings. As former Bucs QB Jeff Carlson points out in his QB Blast column on JoeBucsFan.com, Freeman was awestruck on Saturday night, as well.

Raheem The Dream also talked to Duemig on Monday afternoon about how proud he was of the response of his coaching staff and their adjustments following the weekend practice sessions.

The Dream plans to check in for a daily interview with Duemig. The Big Dog starts his show at 3 p.m. You can listen live online at 620WDAE.com.
