Ryan Sims gets some "powerful" pointers from defensive line coach Robert Mann.

It was hot in the early afternoon minutes at One Buc Palace. Practice was over. Air conditioning beckoned.

Yet Bucs defensive lineman Ryan Sims was fired up. It seems he can’t get enough of Jim Bates’ defense.

Sims was so pumped up, that it was almost enough for Joe to don pads and a helmet.

When Joe asked Sims what was the difference between Bates’ scheme and Monte Kiffin’s Tampa-2, Sims did not hesitate.

“Power! It’s powerful!” Sims said. Loudly.

“This is a powerful defense. We are going to be powerful with other teams.”

And trust Joe, Sims said this… powerfully.
