Son Of Bob Released!

July 13th, 2009

Well, well, well. Joe has ESP.

Just a few scant minutes after Joe posted the Bucs quarterbacks story, the Bucs issued a release — shockingly, not at night — that the Bucs have cut ties with Son of Bob, Brian Griese.

Griese’s release concludes his second stint with the Buccaneers. He originally signed with Tampa Bay in March of 2004 and spent the next two years with the team, starting a total of 16 games. He departed via free agency for the Bears in 2006 but, after two seasons in Chicago, was reacquired by the Buccaneers in a trade in March of 2008. Last year, Griese started a total of five games when Jeff Garcia was hurt.

This hardly comes as any surprise. Not only was Son of Bob not seen at One Buc Place since Chucky was fired, the Bucs all but said on the record that they had no use for him.

Joe is sort of surprised the Bucs released him now.
