Dominik Doesn’t Know If Revis Is On Trade Block

March 20th, 2013

As Joe pointed out earlier today, Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik appeared on “Movin’ the Chains,” co-hosted by Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan, heard exclusively on SiriusXM NFL Radio, to talk all things Bucs yesterday.

Below is another excerpt and Joe will have the full transcript tomorrow, sans the two elements he is writing about today.

Tim Ryan bluntly asked Dominik what the deal was with Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, largely rumored to be traded to the Bucs. Dominik confessed he isn’t sure where a transaction for Revis stands.

Tim Ryan: I know you cannot talk about Darrelle in terms of being under contract, but in your opinion, is he on the trade market or not? We’ve heard a thousand different stories on Revis.

Mark Dominik: I don’t know if he really is, honestly. That is a tough question for me to answer. You have to get [Jets general manager] John Idzik on here Pat and grill him about that.

Pat Kirwan: I will!

Dominik: I will say this, as a general manager, I go around to each club and ask about specific players. That is what is great about these meetings, you can go around and have one-on-one face time. “Do you have an interest ‘X,’ is there anyone you are moving or willing to trade?” So we will continue to go around and talk to every club, all [31] clubs by the time this thing ends and we will have a good [idea of the] trade market and draft movement too.

You know what this tells Joe? That the Jets are jerking around Dominik. It tells Joe that Dominik is interested in talking trade, but the Jets, for reasons unknown, can’t get their act together. Is Jets coach Captain Lou Albano trying to block a trade? Is Woody Johnson getting cold feet? Is Idzik simply too wet behind the ears to pull off such a massive deal?

If Joe were Dominik, he would tell Idzik to pound sand, that if he wants to move Revis, he knows Dominik’s number. Then sign Brent Grimes to demonstrate he’s not playing games with Idzik.

There really is just one team with cap space and draft picks to pull off a deal like this now. It is the Bucs and the Jets have to know this.

Signing Grimes would not prevent Joe from still trying to land Revis; Grimes would be a safety net. And Joe would still go out and select at least one corner high in next month’s draft.

  1. st. louis Bucs fan Says:

the Jets will screw this up like they always do. Revis would be nice for the right price. get Grimes just in case tho… BUC IT IM OUT!!!!!

  2. You Go Joe Says:

We are at the mercy of the team that allows sanchez to play, that hires rex ryan, that also fired everyone but ryan, and also picked up tebow…. God have mercy on us all. Idzik sure as hell started this season on the wrong foot by lettings something like this go by.

  3. Big Picture Guy Says:

So under this scenario, Joe’s dream secondary would look like: Revis, Grimes, Barber, Gorer, Johnson, and a high-round rookie. Talk about going from famine to feast at cornerback!!

  4. Jrock Says:

Grimes is a terrible safety net. 30 years old, achilles tear. You remember Earnest Graham? Same situation, never played football again.

Any other experienced CB other than Grimes, please…

  5. T in Orlando Says:

I think Dominick coming out and saying Revis is on the trading block may cross the line into tampering. If nothing else, it may have been a professional courtesy he was extending to Idzik, after different reports coming out of Jet-land; not shopping Revis, willing to extend Revis, a matter of when not if Revis will be gone; there didn’t need to be an outside source suggesting another standpoint the Jets might be taking.

I’ve said it one, and I’ll say it again, even if we get Revis, he should not be the only veteran CB we acquire this offseason. So we should be bringing in at least one other CB via FA.

  6. TampaRob Says:

Joe- what are the thoughts about Munnerlyn or Winfield? I haven’t read too much about them, but have to be better than the current CBs on the roster and they should be available at a good price.

  7. Capt. Tim Says:

Hmmm, bad knee, torn Achilles. Yup! Sounds like a buccaneer dream secondary. 2 gimps, 2 talentless! Hell ya! We’ll break that “worst pass defense in history” record this year.

Does Dom like any cornerbacks that can currently run? Jog, meybe?

It looks like the Jets told Dom to go pound sand. Too late, though. He’s been doing nothing but pounding sand, since free agency started!!

Starting a pool! Which starter leaves next? Bet there will be more. . .

  8. passthebuc Says:

He is too much of an unknown for the price. For what you will pay in Draft Picks and money, you can fill many a hole.

  9. RCH Says:

Well said Joe, only I would draft two corners. If the Jets butt-fumble the deal so be it at that point we will just get the jet fueled up and get him next year.

  10. Joe Says:

    Tim:

It looks like the Jets told Dom to go pound sand. Too late, though. He’s been doing nothing but pounding sand, since free agency started!!

Perhaps you haven’t heard about Dominik signing Dashon Goldson?

  11. Joe Says:

    Rob:

Joe- what are the thoughts about Munnerlyn or Winfield?

Clearly must be something wrong with them because 31 other teams have also turned their noses up on them.

  12. Cannuckbuc Says:

Grimes has visited a couple of teams and nothing.has Dom checked this guy out? Is this guy still injured? Joe what have you heard about this guy?

  13. Macabee Says:

I have am no longer emotionally vested in FA. If there is a plan, whatever they do or don’t do is fine by me.

I have assumed at this point, whatever upside we get will come in the draft. But I can’t catch a break. All the major mocks have been giving us Star Lotulelei expecting him to fall out of the top 10.

This would have been fine by me with Miller gone. However he had his pro day today and literally performed well above expectations – so much so early reviews are that he is going to be back in the top 5.

I’m happy for the young man, but damn I was hoping he would fall to us. Xavier Rhodes killed it yesterday too and Miami is salivating to get their hands on him at 12.

I’ve been a good guy, I deserve a break. Some good news, any good news, please!

  14. Scott Says:

    @RCH

Great use of the term “butt-fumble.” That was the funniest thing I’ve read all day!

  15. J 2.0 Says:

There is no way the Jets make it through the draft with Revis. If they wait until after the draft, they will not get as good of a haul. Mostly no 2013 picks. So, pretty sure this gets done before the draft.

  16. bucfanjeff Says:

It’s odd we’ve heard nothing on Grimes….from anyone.

Calm before the storm? Jeez I hope so.

  17. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

I am not sure why some people are so quick to dismiss Grimes because of the achilles tear. Players come back from it all the time. Eric Berry just did a season or two ago. Same with Bowers and Terrel Suggs this past season. Its not a death sentence.

I like that people say we haven’t done anything in free agency. We signed Goldson and picked up a few other guys (Casillas, Ogletree, Crabtree). You don’t build through free agency and Dominik knows this. He targets game changers and depth in free agency – nothing in between because they will be over paid.

As far as Revis is concerned . . . Idzik needs to sh!t or get off the pot!

  18. 4everBucsFan Says:

At this point, it’s about the only good move left. Sign Grimes and wait on Revis.

  19. WestCoastBucsFan Says:

After thinking about my post I realize Wright punches a huge hole in what I said. I believe he was signed a little out of desperation because we absolutely needed a corner and there was no way of not over-paying for a decent one last season.

  20. Bucfish7 Says:

I agree with you 100% on this one Joe!

  21. Bucs or gtfo Says:

Agreed Joe. If the Jets want to act like Jackasses, treat them like it. If they are serious about a trade, they know Dominick’s number. In the meantime sign Grimes.

  22. RCH Says:

BREAKING NEWS: Some free agency work by the team today, re-signing long-snapper Andrew Economos and linebacker Jacob Cutrera.

  23. BirdDoggers Says:

The Jets don’t have much leverage. A player coming off an injury that will require premium draft picks and a big contract. Not exactly the best scenario for them. Which is exactly why Dominik should hold firm and move forward. The Jets could be trying to buy time so Revis can prove his injury won’t be a problem and they can squeeze more out of a trade partner.

  24. T in Orlando Says:

Economos is a very important player at a very underrated position. For as often as we see Field Goal attempts instead of TDs, and punts when a drive stalls out, we rarely see a poor snap. This was a good (not sexy) re-signing.

Cutrera will likely be another Special Teamer, although he may get some looks at the SAM, and all LB positions for depth, and he if does well enough, Hayward may be replaced. Again, not sexy signing, but a decent one.

  25. lightningbuc Says:

So because the Jets won’t cave to Roadie GM Dominik’s wishes, then that means the Jets are “jerking him around”?

  26. Bucs or gtfo Says:

Bucs resign Economos and Cutrera? SUPERBOWL

  27. Bucs or gtfo Says:

@Lightningbuc No, It’s because they were shopping Revis and the Bucs are offering them the best offer and many would argue that the Jets asking for a 1st round this year is too much.

  28. Capt. Tim Says:

Yes. I heard of signing Goldson. Traded rated a “c” or “d” by every source I’ve read. Overpaid for a player, that plays an area that wasn’t a great need.

I consider it yet another strange and erratic move. We just drafted Barron, Amed Black has shown talent. Plus they have raved about Tandy, last preseason. And Ronde may still be back.

We have NO cornerbacks. Lost 3 starters from front 7 of defense. They want to upgrade Dotson. Trueblood left- need depth. We have so many areas of desperate need!

And he pays a kings ransom to a Safety.

You don’t think that’s strange. It’s more sand pounding to me. I like Goldson. I also like Larry Fitzgerald! Would love to have him! But we have a great WR- Vincent Jackson. Mike W ain’t bad either!
So I’d rather see us address our glaring weaknesses!

  29. Jacko101 Says:

If we don’t make moves we are destined to fail again this year

  30. Big Rob Says:

I agree with you Joe. Signing Brent Grimes will send a message to the Jets that we are loosing interest.

  31. ShutTheBucUp Says:

brent grimes isn’t coming to Tampa. we would have signed him already if he was “our guy”. we’re going to play a bunch of rookies and other teams’ scraps at corner. get used to the idea.

  32. gotbbucs Says:

I have to believe that if the bucs, or any other team, thought that grimes wasnt an injury risk they would have signed him by now. Its looking to me like unless we make a trade for revis or shields we’re staring down the barrel at possibly two rookie starting corners.

  33. Buc Fan #238 Says:

    Capt Tim is right.

    1) Lost starting LB Quincy Black
    2) Lost starting DE Mike Bennett
    3) Lost starting DT Roy Miller
    4) Lost Aqib Talib since 2012 opening roster which helped us get to last on pass defense
    5) Might as well lose Eric Wright since they are chasing him away
    6) Lost EJ Biggers… the other starter
    7) Ronde Barber may as well be counted as out

    On offense
    1) Lost back-up RT Trueblood

    1) Gained Ogletree
    2) Re-signed Blount but they want to trade him

At least the offense is holding up.

  34. Joe Says:

Yes, the Bucs have spoken to Grimes’ people, per several reports. How you define that, well, that is your call.

  35. Westcoastbucsfans Says:

    @238

How do you only mention Ogletree as the player we signed?

I really think people are underestimating Dashon Goldson’s impact on this defense. He will be huge this year.

  36. dave Says:

Buc Fan #238 and many others….

What exactly about a horrible defense did you want them to do? Keep everyone? The run defense was good because of McCoy, David, Foster, and coaching. That is still there.
The pass defense was a joke. They upgraded the Safeties, are working on the CBs and still have the draft and depth signings all off season.

They have drafted to DEs in Clayborn and Bowers and are going to ask them to step up now. Does not mean they won’t sign some depth or draft another.

I get that keeping Miller and Bennett would have been nice, but why does everyone suddenly want to keep AVERAGE players that have been part of a bad defense for a few years now?

DOM is not perfect, no GM is. He will make mistakes and has. But he has also done a fabulous job on paper and appears to have caoching in place to make something of it now.

As for Goldson, seems to me with Barron and Black ( a nickel guy – not a starter) safety is now set for years.
No problem with that. Plus better safety play will help the CBs… as will a healthy Bowers and Clayborn stepping up.

Time will tell, but it seems they are going after the best CB out there in Revis and plan on drafting one.

  37. Northend Says:

Capt you couldnt be more wrong.Goldson is a straight up stud !! We are instantly better in the secondary.Go to you tube and watch his hits and highlights.Ronde and Barron struggled last year.Barron is a thumper and “The Hawk”Is a true cover/Man up /play centerfield FS.put 2kids like Trufant and Banks back there at CB with wright and LJ and we are fine. Now DT is a different story.

  38. squadoosh Says:

@Captain Tim- Goldshon rated as a C or D in every publication?? You are full of crap.
At cornerback however I have no idea what they are doing…..they should have gotten a quality starter right away. Wait and see I guess.

  39. Steve From Oregon Says:

I just love the passion on this site, although at tiimes, I do not agree with it…I still appreciate it.

Its funny…..if we sign Grimes then all of a sudden, I believe in the eyes of most fans, this free agency period was overall a success.

Sign Grimes…..wait on Revis…..possibly pick up depth on DL or DE….were good, I trust that Dom and Schiano have a plan….they did not spend a fortune on a safety to go 3-9 this season…they are planning on being competitive and winning this year.

Lets see how this plays out.

  40. Buc Fan #238 Says:

Sign Dwight Freeney would be a great start.

Look at that freaking SPIN move baby!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmnIRzGh27s

  41. Bucnnole Says:

    FIRE MARK DOMINICK. Period

  42. Buc Fan #238 Says:

I can’t edit my post… but of course we signed a FS to fill the void that Barber is leaving behind.

  43. CanadianBucsFan Says:

Love your idea Joe. Sign Grimes, trade for Revis, and draft a CB in either the first or second round. Add those moves with us getting Goldson.. a much improved secondary.

  44. Tackleblockwin Says:

Joe…I feel the same way. Dom needs to sign another corner and show the Jets that he is moving on. Basic negotiating involves alternatives. It is time to pursue those alternatives.

  45. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Don’t understand why everyone is freaking out on our defense. Outside of a few (very few) bright spots, our defense was not that great last year. Teams were not running on us much because they could pass on us AT WILL. Hence the #1 run defense.

Are we getting rid of our bright spots McCoy, Bowers, Clayborn, David, Foster?

  46. CC Says:

Freeney, Abraham and Osi all visiting teams today. Dom and the Glazers need to get one of these guys. Freeney preferably. But as far as anybody around here knows. Nobody’s scheduled a visit to One Buc. Don’t get it.

  47. Westcoastbucsfans Says:

    ^^^^^^*facepalm*^^^^^^

  48. MTM Says:

Dominick is probably at One Buc Place right now working out deals with Osi, Freeney, Abraham and Grimes or doing nothing. I’m going with nothing. Maybe 3 more players will leave by the end of the week. Keep sucking Rock Star.

  49. CC Says:

I think I figured out the “Plan”. To once again be the team that spends the least amount of money.

  50. Machiavellii Says:

So we fire Dominik … Then what.. Who would you have instead ??? If you suggest a move then provide a solution as well.. No doubt you would want the next GM Fired as well…

I’ve said it over and over again , there are so many factors that go into these decisions, no GM wakes up in the morning and thinks how he could make his team worse.. Hey all try their best. Some of them just aren’t cut out to be GM. Having said that I believe Dominik is as good a GM as we have ever had and if you are going to call for him to be fired them by all means come up with a suitable replacement..

Building a NFL is not all about picking players – there is a lot of luck needed to reach the Super Bowl and win it.. If simply having all the best players guaranteed a Super Bowl then everyone else would do it…

Sometimes in sport you lose, take some pride in supporting your team through a season and if we win the big one great if not go back and start again. That’s the beauty of team sport. If you want to be a bandwagon fan go support the cowboys or the patriots.. True fans stick through the best and the worst. I for one support the bucs in all their moves and hope that it all comes together as they have planned and if not well we start again next year and I will support them through that as well..

  51. DOC Says:

He’s probably saving cap money to sign rookies, resign his players later- Williams, Freeman, McCoy. Those three will cost a lot.

  52. ben Says:

We need a lb , urlacher is available now, just saying

  53. DougMartin22 Says:

    @ DOC

McCoy makes 10m already. His salary won’t come higher. Williams could see a 6m contract a year, and that’s reasonable.

  54. Cmurda Says:

I agree with Joe’s assessment of this whole Revis situation. Joe pretty uch summed up my thoughts. Sign Grimes now.

  55. gotbbucs Says:

Ok, enough with suggestions of signing all of these aging veterans. First, they don’t want to come to a team that appears to be rebuilding from the outside world, and second, most of them are on the market for reasons other than their team not being able to afford them. Especially the guys who play positions where we have young guys that need to be on the field to develop.
We are a long long long way from setting a final roster, and having lots of cap space later in the offseason when most teams are maxed out is a good thing. We have the draft and then the inevitable release of more veteran players after that is done. Chill out, I’m as excited as the next guy to see some moves, but it’s only the middle of March. There really isn’t any sense in jamming up the roster with players that will likely still be on the market after the draft. Every team is pretty much in full draft mode right now and are all looking past the remaining free agents for the time being.

  56. Eric Says:

Mark Dominik doesn’t know……………..(fill in the blank)

  57. Capt. Tim Says:

Squadouche- read Walterfootball or S.I NFL.
Both rate free agent transactions to date. The Goldson deal rated a “C” or a “C-”, because the Bucs overpaid, and spent major money on a posistion that was not great need. As I stated. We didn’t need a damn Safety, and are dying for cornerbacks. In Shiano’s defense- the cornerbacks are on an island. It isn’t a zone, where safeties help by covering zones. It’s all about the cBs, and we don’t have any

Respectfully- no- it is indeed you, sir that , in this instance, are full of crap
Although I have been full of crap on many other occasions.

  58. gotbbucs Says:

    @ Capt. Tim

The fact that you’re taking Walterfootball’s free agency grades seriously explains alot about your distain for the bucs now. He also gave the Vincent Jackson and Carl Nicks signings bad grades last year, and he thinks Talib is an elite corner.
That site sucks out loud as far as free agency goes, not terrible for draft info though.

  59. Pelbuc Says:

Everyone relax. We don’t need to sign every free agent CB and DL. I hope we DO NOT SIGN REVIS. Bucs need more than one player and giving up draft picks and players to trade (I. E. Blount) will affect our depth and future. As far as losing Bennett and Miller, no big loss Other than depth and Bucs will draft DL and CB. Also, teams will be cutting familiar names to get to 53. The next season rides on Freeman more than anything or anyone else. Hope we sign Grimes and Cptain Munnelyn. Decent players and you weaken divisional foes.

  60. Coorado Buc Says:

    Joe,

You naild it on this one. Sign Grimes and watch them squirm a little. The New York media is already bashing them for blowing the oppurtunity to trade a player coming off an injury with no obligation to resign with any team. Revis has been a headache to them for years talking contract. Let the Bucs pay the man! Revis and Grimes, Barron and Goldson….Bucs will be a force!

  61. lurker Says:

    via rotoworld

Sources tell the New York Daily News the parameters of a long-term deal are not the hang-up in talks between the Jets and Bucs about Darrelle Revis, and that the Bucs would pay Revis between $12-$13 million annually.
    ——————————————————————————
Per reporter Manish Mehta, the sides are expected to come to a long-term agreement “without much trouble” if Revis is sent to Tampa. The problem remains Tampa’s reluctance to part with the No. 13 pick in next month’s draft. ESPN New York reported Tuesday the Jets are in “no rush” to make a move, and willing to wait for 2014 compensation. Related: Buccaneers

  62. Vic66 Says:

Monaca, please tell daddy to stop jerking Domonic around.

238, Capt Tim and Eric. Lots of volume – what’s your real team?

  63. MadMax Says:

If we’re going to trade next year’s 1st round for Revis, why not go ahead and address the QB competition and draft Barkley this year in case Freeman starts stinking it up? I know we arent hurting too bad for QB, but theres hardly nobody left in FA now.
Im prone to read some smoke screens being sent out. He just might be there at #13.

I would rather go for Star though if he’s there and his heart is ok.

  64. lurker Says:

just say “no” to usc qb’s !!!!

    in other cb news…
    via rotoworld:

Panthers re-signed CB Captain Munnerlyn to a one-year contract.
    ————————————————————————-
“I’m staying a Carolina Panthers!,” Munnerlyn announced on Twitter. The soon-to-be 25-year-old recorded 61 tackles, nine pass breakups, and two interceptions last season. It’s a big signing for the Panthers, who are scratching for every dollar right now. Carolina now has six corners under contract for 2013. If the season were to start today, Josh Thomas and Josh Norman would likely start on the outside with Munnerlyn covering the slot.
Source: Captain Munnerlyn on Twitter Mar 20 – 8:51 PM

  65. Capt. Tim Says:

Vic66- Son, my butt was in the seats for the Bucs inaugural season. Been watching ever since. Thru the 12 years without a winning season. Thru the horrible Culverhouse years. I watched there first playoff game- in the big Sombrero( a game Eric was also at)

I’ve watched the horrible and the wonderful.

And being a fan, doesn’t mean you just tolerate any crap that throw on the field. That’s not a fan- that’s an idiot.

If everyone thought like you, Vic, we’d still be a British colony!!

  66. CC Says:

Lets be honest here. We all got spoiled by last years free agent signings ie spending. Looks like we are back to the same old crap. If you exclude last year, the Bucs were at the very bottom of the NFL in overall spending for the last 6 or 7 years. And the Glazer boys think the only reason games are not selling out is the economy. Look at the Lightning, they have sold out every game. Until the Glazers show a commitment to do whatever it takes to put a winning team on the field there will continue to be empty seats at RayJa. Now if they have given Dominik the check book to go out and improve this team and he has not, Then fire him for not doing his job.

  67. Bucs Fan #238 Says:

Don’t forget that you had to endure that God Aweful span with Raheem Morris.

  68. CC Says:

Meanwhile the Panthers,Saints and Falcons are all scraping together every cent they can get their hands on to sign free agents and make themselves better. Somehow they manage to get it done while over the cap limit.

  69. Berserker Ryan Says:

If we get Revis we’ll run out of money and captain patches. Getting him will hurt us in the long run.

  70. Bucs Fan #238 Says:

The best thing the Bucs could do is sign 10,000 fans to a 2.8 million dollar contract. That is handing out 10,000 12th fandom tickets, at 35 dollars a piece over 8 home games (35*10,000*8 = 2.8 mil).

This would be the best money spent on what could be considered the “modern day free agent”. Re-invest in your fans owners.

Surely 2.8 million can be spared each year in salary cap space for the 12th fandom.

Imagine the impact of lifting the blackouts, packing a stadium with 65,000 screaming fans? This would by far and away top ANY free agent signing that takes up 10 times that cost.

  71. CC Says:

    @#238
I like the way you think outside the box.

  72. Cmurda Says:

Agree with Capt Tim. It doesn’t make you a bad fan just because you disagree with moves etc. or disagree with the lack of moves. C’mon even Joe knows the lack of Buccaneer Men acquired in free agency is thus far unacceptable. I’m still pumped about Goldson but losing Bennett, Biggers w/o any more acquisitions is not good enough. Would I give up a 1st for Revis? Even the 13 th overall? If the Bucs are truly convinced that he will return to form before injury then hells yes. Revis is a diamond in a pool where pearls rule.

  73. lurker Says:

capt. tim going for the melodramatic!

    and

    bucsfan says what?

  74. Eric Says:

Doug Williams to Jimmy Giles, Captain, and Ricky Bell had a great game. Good thing we tackled Harold Carmichael on that last drive!

Not only was I at the game I stayed up all night to get a ticket!

Love the Bucs, but this slobbering all over Mark Dominik and the man from Rutgers is tooooooo much. It’s obnoxious!

  75. lurker Says:

wow…so you all are just grumpy old men!?!

“i remember sloggin through the snow uphill to the ol’ sombrero…both ways!
    ;)

i guess florida is the senior citizen capital.

  76. Raphael Says:

Wtf is wrong with all the crybabies !

    Wah wah wah !

We are gonna have an awesome team soon , just stop it

  77. Bucs Fan #238 Says:

How can you have an awesome team when you lost 5 starters on defense?

  78. 1976Buc Says:

Seems many of us saw each other at the Sombrero. I was there the day the Selmon Brothers stepped off the bus the first time.

  79. OptimisTroll Says:

    238,

When you have the league’s 2nd worst rank pass defense in history, you better lose 5 starters or you will not have an awesome team.

  80. Raphael Says:

Last I checked the season doesn’t start til sept ?

How can you have abad team when the season is 5 months away …

    5 months ….

  81. lurker Says:

    Bucs Fan #238 Said:
“How can you have an awesome team when you lost 5 starters on defense?”

addition by subtraction?!? lost mediocre players on a mediocre defense. you complain about being mediocre.

  82. 1976Buc Says:

I will say Raphael, that we had holes to fill, have created more holes to fill and I for one am ready to fill some holes before vacating another. I still contend that some of these moves were requested by the players and our Bucs could do nothing about it.

  83. Capt. Tim Says:

The Buccaneers are a product. A product they sell, one seat at a time. You pay for this team- tax dollars and tickets, beers and hot dogs.

They take this product, and stamp “Tampa Bay” on the back. In the worlds eyes, their product represents OUR community.

    And they make HUGE profits

So yeah, if they are gonna represent my community( for a huge profit), use our tax money( to save a huge profit), and collect huge ovecharged prices for tickets, parking, and concesdions( at a huge profit)
Then, by Gosh, they certainly have a great deal of accountability to their customers and community- you take the profits, then you bear the cross!!!

I was very optimistic this offseason. 3 cornerbacks, a TE, an OT, a Sam LB- boom! Playoffs!! Good offense, good run defense. An improved Pass defense, this team can finally get out of the cellar!

Nooo! We lose talented defensive players! We have watched talented Cbs jump off the board. The young talent is gone! No either old guys, or head cases.

We are worse now, than when the season ended.

And we ended on the bottom. I’m tired of Tampa bay looking pathetic every week.its rediculous that they still don’t have a competitive team, after 5 years of rebuilding

  84. Bucs Fan #238 Says:

Capt. Tim is spot on once again. A REAL fan would share his sentiment. You guys act like losing 5 defensive starters is a good thing… it MIGHT be a good thin if we actually replaced those vets with better vets.

The Bucs havent even replaced the vets they lost period… rookie draft picks to fill 4 or 5 spots?

The free safety only replaces someone… the holes are still there.

    Undrafted free agents perhaps?

Weird group of fans who don’t seem to care. Why the Mark Dominik protection? Because he is awesome? Really? He sure hasn’t demonstrated awesome behavior.

  85. Andrew 1 Says:

bucs resign long snapper Andrew Economos!!!! cause I know thats the one signing we’ve all been waiting for. lets throw a freaking parade.

  86. lurker Says:

wow….the melodrama is contagious here, now.

real fan my a$$. you are no more a fan than any other on this site. just because you love to dwell in misery and negativity doesn’t make you a better fan! lmao

as far as i can tell we all want this team to succeed. it is just some have a positive, glass half full outlook, and others, not.

  87. Andrew 1 Says:

    @ Bucs Fan #238

its not a weird group of fans who dont seem to care. its optimistic fans who believe in the bucs. I prefer those fans over all else. just thought id set you straight.

  88. Andrew 1 Says:

    @ lurker

EXACTLY!!! I personally enjoy the positive. fans.

  89. Andrew 1 Says:

after listening to some of these negative fans I just wanna take a gun and blow my brains out. I would hate to watch a game with them.

  90. Bucs Fan #238 Says:

Its as if you guys have forgotten the Raheem Morris rebuild? Remember all those rookies, young guys? Remember the company line was that we will build through the draft then re-sign our own developed draft picks? I mean I understand if we had a viable option to replace them… but we DON’T.

They could have always hve signed them, found a replacement, and THEN release them once said replacement stepped up and took their spot.

I am not getting this non-activity. There will be no more starting caliber vets better than Bennett or Miller. Soon, even Biggers will be a guy who got away. Yet we still have Myron Lewis.

I’m just not seeing the blind optimism.

    Enjoy the rookie starters.

Enjoy trading away draft picks for a guy with a bad knee…

Oh but dont worry… we will have a ton of Undrafted Free Agents and practice squad guys to choose from.

  91. 4everBucsFan Says:

I choose to remain positive. I will reserve my opinion till after the first couple of games. To the fan, Dominik has not done much in FA, and it is glaringly transparent. Signing Goldson was his shock and awe move to this point, and a great move at that. But c’mon, he has to be following a some sort of plan, and we’re just not in the loop.

I can’t see him purposely not re-signing certain players and passing on FA unless this was his plan all along. I do think this Revis trade will eventually work out. Rather than all this bad posturing by Idzic, it would be in his best interest to get a deal done. Otherwise, Idzic could find it difficult to find future dance partners.

  92. Eric Says:

Hey if you think Dom and the quirky dude from the big east can do the job, more power to you.

    Maybe they will.

Just like Raheem Morris was like Chuck Noll and Tom Landry, as a lot of you said.

Not really grumpy, but when you gain experience then you stop believing in the tooth fairy.

But the blind and ignorant are very entertaining. Rock on!

  93. Raphael Says:

@ lurker @ Andrew. Glad your here… I don’t get the whining and crying when the season is 5 months away…

  94. Jimmy Says:

Schiano must be listening to Bumstedt. Remember, Bumstedt is the genius who traded the No. 16 pick in the draft for Rick Mirer. How many franchises has this Bumstedt wrecked the past 20 years? Every team he touches this Bumstedt poisons.

  95. lurker Says:

just because you thrive in negativity does not mean people who disagree are blind and ignorant. funny how you say you aren’t grumpy, but you antagonize and call names. I’m just glad the senior classes you are taking are allowing you to use the internet. I am surprised, however, the the nursing home, assisted living lets you stay up this late and use the pc. also, please don’t fall sneaking back into bed!

  96. Nate Says:

I think that we maybe going to a 3-4 defense… And will only need 3 good lineman.. which we have.. Just a hunch I know it sounds crazy but this could happen..

  97. Andrew 1 Says:

^^^^^ that we be a dream come true. Ive always loved the 34 defense and prefer it over the 43 defense.

  98. SilenceTheCritics Says:

We lost average players on a bad defense and some of you want to cry like its the end of the world. That is comical… yet then you turn around and say we are uneducated and blind and dumb and stupid and the names can go on and on and on…. priceless. LMAO, this is an entertaining offseason indeed!

  99. Raphael Says:

Agreed ^^^*^. It is comical …

  100. Raphael Says:

    100 Just wanted to be 100 ….YIPPPEEEEEE !!

  101. Joe Says:

    100 Just wanted to be 100 ….YIPPPEEEEEE !!

    :)

  102. Capt. Tim Says:

No. We lost 3 starters from the number one ranked Defense.
    That is a losing strategy

  103. Capt. Tim Says:

    Number one ranked run defense

  104. MadMax Says:

@Nate, Interesting. But would a 3 4 work here? Has Schiano been known for it? But we’d still need one more talent to back up McCoy. Perhaps Sheldon Richardson talent. But he’ll probably be gone. Still need an attacking OLB/DE Hybrid, so maybe we go after Jordan/Jones/Mingo (I would prefer Jordan).

No. We lost 3 starters from the number one ranked Defense.

    —————————————

Right because a average nickel corner, a big bodied DT that can only take up space and a average pass rusher is soooo hard to replace… whatever will we do… ? We might as well pack it up now and try again in 2014.. those guys will never be replaced.

  106. Eric Says:

Dominik could have five more years to start of the season, wouldn’t matter.

  107. Capt. Tim Says:

Yah, it’s amazing those 4 total bums were starters all last year.
    And who is replacing them?

That’s what I thought. No answers . It’s funny. The clueless club calls Bucfan#238, Eric, and I negative.

Yet it’s all of you” joy of a clueless mind” boys, that keep trashing our players that left! Miller and Bennett all played very well last year. Hell, your hero Shiano praised both of them- repeatedly- in comments posted right here on “JoeBuc”. Said they were both cornerstones for his defense

Now, they are just a couple bums.

And you say you are Bucfans?? Enjoy your continued stay in The NFC south cellar. The loyalty they’ve shown Bennett and Miller- is probably why there is such a stampede of free agents coming here

  108. Sneedy16 Says:

Name calling does not prove points. Some people are optimist and some are pessimist, you just have to learn to disagree without being petty about it.

  109. SilenceTheCritics Says:

    @Sneedy

Agreed.. it amuses me to call them out and then poke and prod… for example.. Take Capt. Tims last post

How silly is it to bash people for not answering his post at 8am? LMAO… as if everybody is suppose to be up reading this post because it’s him whos posting… Another perfect example? Why exactly would Schiano come out and bash his own players? He’s to classy for that. So of course he’s going to come out and build up his players to the media. His post lacks any type of common sense. It’s clear he comes here to build up his own ego… but really only looks like a fool most of the time.
