Mark Dominik Signs Multi-year Contract Extension

April 11th, 2011

Big news for Bucs fans; sad news for the haters.

Team Glazer has rewarded Bucs rock star general manager Mark Dominik with a four-year contract extension, the Bucs just announced moments ago.

“It’s been a pleasure working with and getting to know Mark, so it’s gratifying to witness his success,” Bucs Co-Chairman Joel Glazer said in a statement released by the club. “Mark is dedicated to delivering the winner our fans deserve.”

“I’m appreciative of the confidence the Glazer family has in the direction of the franchise,” Dominik said in the same release. “I’m looking forward to working into my 20th year as a proud part of this community and organization. The mission is to continue building this team into a lasting contender and to bring championships back to the Tampa Bay area.”

And just how is Dominik celebrating his new contract? He’s playing golf with Joe’s good friend “The Big Dog,” Steve Duemig of WDAE-AM 620 in the Chris Thomas golf tournament, raising money for the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.

Joe stands up and offers a golf clap. No general manager in the NFL has had a more profound positive impact on his team the past two years than Dominik. He has proved to be an uncanny draft guru who apparently puts in loads of hours into research, going so far as to interview Little League coaches of potential draftees and query agents about other players.

In recent weeks of dark news concerning the labor tug-of-war and Aqib Talib’s legal hassles, this is more than refreshing news.

But I thought the Glazer’s were cheap and didn’t care about winning? I’m sure the haters will spin this into some sort of Glazer bash. Ce la vie. For the rest of us: REJOICE! The man certainly deserves it. Congrats to Rock Star GM D. Keep us going in the right direction. I look forward to seeing your work come to fruition, if we ever get a football season that is.

Congratulations to Dominik for the extension

Now can someone explain to me why the HC, Raheem Morris did not receive an extension as well?

Is the GM more important than the HC?

    Hmmmmmm

  9. Brad Says:

I’m sure Raheem is next then I want to laugh in the face of Thomas and the other idiots whom are against this regime. I stand as a person that hated the hiring of Dominik and Morris the first year but anyone with half a brain can see these guys deserve all the credit and extensions they can get.

Great news and well deserved! Dom is the man! The haters are working feverishly to spin this negatively I’m sure!

  11. Derf Says:

Joe I’m curious about the terms of the contract. I know with players the organizations list the # of years and signing bonuses etc.,

Is it the same with GM’s?

Do you think there are any clauses in his contract for incentives? Like if the Bucs make the playoffs Dominik would get a bonus.

How about if certain draft picks were to make the Pro Bowl, etc., would the GM be able to benefit?

    Just curious.

Dominik has already made me forget about the last GM – Brice…Boyd…Buckaroo….oh yeah Bruce!

  12. Derf Says:

Joe please, please lay off the ‘hater’ stuff will ya? Now you’ve got MoBucs using that phrase as well.

I understand some don’t agree with direction or personell but HATER? That’s rather harsh because thankfully Joe places those people on a short lease.

  13. Joe Says:

    Derf:

Details of Dominik’s pact were not released and likely won’t be.

  14. Joe Says:

    Derf:

“Haters” are often good commenters because they bring passion to the plate.

  15. BigMacAttack Says:

    Here’s to you Thomas………………………………………..
    Sucking my D@#%!!!

  16. MOBucs Says:

Seems like “hater” is a good word to describe those that hate the current regime. Little touchy huh Derf.

  17. Derf Says:

MOBucs – with the political rhetoric heating up I’m just tired of people throwing out terms like racist or haters because they don’t agree with the other person(s).

But since Joe likes to use the term hater I think he should use the term Homer’s as well. ;)

  18. RustyRhino Says:

    Way to go Don.. Contracts….

  19. WeNeedDefense Says:

    Dom deserves this one.

First thing he needs to do is fire Raheem Morris.

  20. MOBucs Says:

Derf… I hate (oops sorry, dislike) to break it to ya, but political rhetoric has always been heated, especially during trying times like these. I come to this site to get a break from politics and enjoy posting my thoughts and responding to those of others. You know as well as I do that there are posters on this site that hate Raheem and Dom. They use every opportunity they can to discredit the huge strides these guys have made with this young team. To them, I am considered a “sheep” or a “homer” because I am optimistic about the direction this team is going. Guess what? I couldn’t care less. I can see (along with the vast majority of Bucs fans) that the team is on the rise because of the new regime in place. I think Joe is fair to everyone on this site. The only “haters” that he has banned are those that are racially motivated with their criticism. I’d suggest you lighten up a bit Derf. We’re talking football here, not racism or politics!
