Pick Up The Phone!

October 27th, 2014

The NFL trade deadline is tomorrow afternoon, and Joe sincerely hopes the Tampa Bay braintrust is eager to wheel and deal.

The Bucs are bad. An offseason roster overhaul is inevitable for a team that needs a pulse. Get the party started now.

Make the tough decisions now and stockpile some draft picks.

Detroit is very banged up at tight end. How bout shipping off Brandon Myers or Luke Stocker? Please don’t tell Joe they’re key pieces in Tampa. Maybe the Lions will cough up a seventh-round pick, or give Danny Gorrer back?

Buffalo (5-3) is in the hunt for the playoffs and is beat up at running back. Perhaps they’d cough up something for Doug Martin, Bobby Rainey or Mike James. There is no case for the Bucs keeping all three of those guys with Charles Sims and Jorvorskie Lane returning Sunday. Take the pick.

So there are four offers for Vincent Jackson? At least take back the fourth-rounder you coughed up for Logan Mankins and move on. Jackson is set to earn $10 million next season when he’ll be worth about two-thirds of that. It’s an easy deal at 1-6, with Jackson in the midst of his worst Bucs season.

Joe’s a fan of Dashon “Hawk” Goldson, but he’s lined up to earn $8 million next season and isn’t coming back without a massive restructuring of his contract. Add him to the garage sale.

Michael Johnson? If there’s a taker of his massive contract, Joe would make the trade immediately. Even throw in Da’Quan Bowers and Larry English. The problem is there won’t be a taker.

Does a garbage Buccaneers offense really need two quarterbacks? If there’s a reasonable deal for Mike Glennon or Josh McCown, Joe would jump on it. Again, there’s no logical argument against it. Joe’s certain Mike Kafka, if called upon, can have the Bucs averaging the three points per first half they rack up now.

Joe, Goldson and Barron are both terrible. Did you happen to see Goldson break his ankles yesterday when breaking down and missing a tackle in the open field?

  2. The Buc Realist Says:

Trade Lovie for a conditional 7th round pick!!!

  3. Fort Myers Dave Says:

I like the Monty Hall picture! The prob with us Buc fans is that we always pick the wrong door or give up a can’t miss good prize for a load of crap behind door #2 when we support our Bucs and actually pay money to see crap like the Vike game at RJS…. Hey Glazer’s: at least fire someone like Marcus Arroyo to show us fans you are following the trainwreck; I doubt if the offense will figure out if the ex-Southern Miss OC or Tedford have been gone until the 2015 draft anyhow…..

  4. MadMax Says:

Yes, get the party started….first to go – VJax, then Martin, then Barron….take what you can get NOW! This team is done just like the season!!!

    Complete rebuild is in order!

  5. bucrightoff Says:

Yes that’s exactly what good franchises do, sell low just for the sake of selling. Or that’s what we do and why we’re a debacle. Trade for value if you can, but trading for the sake of trading? Bad thought, especially given the horrific track record Licht already has.

  6. Jim Says:

Just do NOT trade ‘cement shoes’. He is our QB of the future!

  7. Patrick in VA Says:

Can’t dispute any of it. They’re really bad and there’s not one player on the team that can be looked at as a bright spot aside from LVD. GMC might be good if he weren’t triple teamed every play because the other team’s offense knows that our other D linemen will trip over the grass on their way to the QB. Whoever is willing to offer something should be looked at as a serious possibility because nobody has earned an untouchable status. Clearly the current guys are bad and the FAs we bring in aren’t a good fit so the draft is the key if we’re going to turn this ship around.

I don’t want to hear anything about drafting any positions that aren’t on the O line. Our success going forward is going to be predicated on being able to not only establish a solid run and pass game but also keeping the offense on the field and making sure that the defense is on the field as little as possible and playing fast when they are on. I’m done with lobbying for skill players that are irrelevant when the foundation of the team, the offensive and defensive lines, are not even pro caliber. WE’RE NOT A PLAYER AWAY. WE’RE NOT A QB AWAY. WE NEED TO BUILD THE RIGHT WAY, UP FRONT.

  8. lightningbuc Says:

Speaking of Mankins – dude is just not very good and looks like he’s mailed it in. Tim Wright had 7 catches yesterday with a TD. Think he misses this train wreck? Fleeced by Belichick!

  9. bucrightoff Says:

Offensive Line Mob. Join the movement, it’s our future salvation.

  10. Patrick in VA Says:

@bucrightoff – I’m in. I’ll be a general in the mob until Joe comes in and promotes himself

  11. theodore Says:

The trade for Mankins wasn’t a problem. Our Gs were awful, Mankins is an “upgrade” and we had an extra catching TE. The real problem was drafting another catching TE when you already Tim Wright.

Draft a G next time. Build a team.

  12. biff barker Says:

How many times do we have to gut this pig of a roster when the Buccaneer entrails are able to play well elsewhere?

  13. BucsQcCity Says:

I’m sorry but I refuse to believe that all the offensive players are that bad. It has to be coaching and lack of OC. The first who needs to go is Warhop and he can take Cousin on its way ouy. They are getting beat by some trivial crosses between the DT and the DE. It has to be the coaching and the scheme. I don’t blame Arroyo as he’s trying the best he can but he’s really not good.

And if we gonna keep a 10M$ WR on this team, can we at least try to throw him the ball more than twice in the game.

Goldson is not useful in this new NFL flag football league and Barron since he was penalized for that CLEAN tackle on rg3 isn’t the same anymore.

Oh and trade Glennon ASAP. The problems he have can’t be fixed. The guy hs no balance, no rythm, no awareness and multiply backfoot throws everygame. Now I realize that most of its yard came from garbage time.

  14. CC Says:

Only way they should trade anybody would be if they fire Smith. You CAN NOT trust him with personnel decisions. He SUCKS!

    Preach it.

  16. RastaMon Says:

I got the first survey from the Bucs last night…same type in Raheems & Schanio’ last days………I made my self very clear…..Lovie Must Go….

  17. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’ll join the Oline mob……a good team builds from the trenches……we have 1 sack in the last 3 games……1……out of 130 pass attempts.
You can draft your QB if you wish….but he will get killed with LTs like Collins.

As for trades…..Goldson, Jackson, Martin…..my top three candidates….

There are others but nobody would have them.

  18. Mort Says:

My god you guys are nutso today. Yes it was a punch in the gut yesterday, but you just don’t trade away your players just because you’re upset the magical turnaround you weren’t promised is taking longer than you want.

  19. NewTampaChris Says:

Really need draft picks so I can’t argue with these thoughts. It’s time for the Bucs to be sellers — and then hope that the Raiders can scratch out two wins!

  20. BucsFanSince89 Says:

Trade the whole entire team! Heck throw in an impostor O-Coordinator and a coach that needs to get his head out of the place of where he spent last year with his hand picked Offensive Guru!! Yes you can’t predict what can happen to your body but come on a whole year and in that whole year there wasn’t any talk about his health and how that would affect anything? This team sucks! Awful! Disgusting! Embarrassing! Appalling! And every freaking verb out there to describe bad! I SOLD my season tickets! ( Poor sucker that still has hope for this monstrosity) and I’m done with this team! As an NFL fan to see your favorite team loose week after week is insane. Even worst is coaches and owners not doing anything about it. It’s a disrespect to the game, the league and their fans. I’m so tired of every week seen even the worsts teams in the NFL play at least an exciting game, Buccaneers fans can’t even get that! As a season ticket holder I expect for at least to have some kind of satisfaction for my hard earned money that I spend supporting my favorite team and instead I have to watch this monstrosity week in and week out! Let alone listen to the players and coaches talk about “we played ok” in certain aspects of their game. Is like a total slap to the face to sit there and lie to us to our faces! I’m done spending my money on a mediocre team. Been a fan of the Bucs since I came here in 89, I’ve seen the high and lows and to this day I cry every time I see our superbowl victory. But this I’ve never seen this before even when Dungy went 0-5 in 96! This team each season and game just regress to a state of embarrassment! And everybody can say “oh you’re not a true fan, this and that, blah blah! Well I assure you I am but I’m not a stupid fan! Heck I’ve given more heart to this team than their own players, coaches and ownership! This is a continuous slap and disrespect to my face and I’m over it. Hopefully one day we can have a winning team in the meantime as a fan of the team I have to be submitted to Draft talk in October! SMH just sad and angry!

  21. Patrick in VA Says:

    Trench mob?

  22. LutzBuczFan Says:

Our center makes major mistakes in every game.

  23. Jon Says:

Also saw him jump a few routes and drop numerous picks.

  24. LutzBuczFan Says:

I can’t get excited over draft picks. Just look at our recent history. We just drafted all offensive players, and our offense is terrible yet again.

  25. bucrightoff Says:

I agree trench mob works better because the OLine Mob ignores how bad the DLine is too. But we have two of the 5 worst trench units in the league, no offense fears our DLine and every DLine can’t wait to get our OLine.

  26. Fort Myers Dave Says:

BucFanSince89 I feel your pain. Christ: this 2014 team is about on par with the Leeman Bennett teams of 1985/86…. Bad and embarrassing with that cheapskate b@stard Culverhouse laughing all the way to the bank. The Glazers are doing the same thing right now; they have cap space but chose not to use it… As far as improving the team, yeah I guess I can enlist in themO-Line mob and defect from the Matiota mob as watching that debacle from section 205 yesterday made me realize how ****ing bad the OL is and how slow our so call “BIG” wideouts and fumbling ****ing game throwing high second round tight end is….. Take the top 3 draft pick next year and trade to get multiple picks and rebuild that damned O-line. Zuttah, Joseph and Penn could have won us the Lamb and Vike games by simply not playing as inept as the garbage Tampa Bay is starting now. And Glazers: how about hiring a OC as soon as the Bucs lose their 15th game this season? Arroyo needs to be put down about as bad as Old Yeller was in that ’50s classic. Its sad to watch this team flounder so pathetically on offense to a bad team like Minnesota….

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Trench Mob…..it is!!!!

  28. Skyline Crew Says:

Was reading how there were a few teams that could want Jackson (Seahawks, Eagles, Saints, and Patriots) could use him. Seahawks seem most interested. However, Bucs are asking for a 2nd rd pick for him.

Also, Martin is on the trade block as well. Though I think people will want Zac Stacy over Martin in a trade, but who knows. Buffalo is down to their 3rd and 4th string RBs.

  29. 77 bassguitarist Says:

Is that nancy mckeon “joe” from the facts of life?

  30. mike h Says:

where ever they go they will shine. just wait and see it starts with coaching which tampa does not have period !

  31. mike h Says:

hey let the qb coach run the offense. why u r at it lovie u idiot let the trainer run the defense moron!

  32. NewTampaChris Says:

    @FMDave

This team is damn close to the salary cap and it still stinks. And Lovie was very direct about how there is no reason NOT to spend to the cap.

  33. Mr. Patrick Says:

Except for Gerald and LVD, I would make sure that every other team knew that the entire roster was available. This team needs a total rebuild. Stockpile as many draft picks as possible and draft all of your future core players. Of course, that doesn’t help with the poor coaching or schemes

  34. Bear the Bucs Says:

Sorry folks. That was our last best chance to win a game. It’s all misery from this day forward. Our deer-in-the-headlights looking coach is not going to find the answer anytime soon. It’s been 8 weeks and he still hasn’t found a replacement OC. He’s clueless !

  35. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Because fire sales always turn out well for a team…

…I’m really starting to dislike this place.

  36. Arealbucsfan Says:

We should trade vjax, martin, goldson. Free up cap space and get picks for trades

  37. Patrick in VA Says:

@Bonzai – You know what else works? What we’re doing right now. Going swimmingly

  38. Tye Says:

Trading Lovie is the only hope!

  39. Richmondbucsfan Says:

    LVD, GMC, ASJ, EVANS.
Literally, everyone else I would not miss. Lovie included.

  40. Mike10 Says:

WHO CARES HOW MUCH JACKSON IS OWED NEXT YEAR!!! Why does that matter?! He is one of the higher paid players on this team, but also one of the few bright spots!

COMEON JOE! Sure he drops balls, but when the team is somewhat competitive or when the game is on the line – he is the ONE person I want the ball going to.

He works more for his $ than any other overpaid player on this team… and you’re going to dish him out for a fourth hahaha

… that we both know L+L cannot evaluate for crap in terms of drafting anything of value with it….

    STOP IT JOE

  41. Jeagan1999 Says:

I’d trade all those guys for a competent OC right now!

  42. Tye Says:

You can get rid of many players and bring in many more that these coaches can’t coach OR, get rid of these coaches and find coaches that can coach these players how to play… How many times has the Bucs sent off players who have went on to have success under better coaching?

  43. Patrick Says:

Unload Dashon Goldson. That’s a guy that deserves to stay.

Doug Martin: we’re not going to get a good pick for him, if we get anything at all. Give him the rest of the year.

Vincent Jackson: I don’t care if he costs $10 million a year. He’s one of the few players that deserves to stay here; he’s our only offensive weapon and it’s outrageous how this team wants to completely deplete our receiving core (which was once a huge strength of this team). First Williams, and now Jackson?? Congrats, we have no receivers now!

  44. BbobB Says:

I agree with Jim. We can’t trade Glennon. Did you watch that game yesterday. We lost because of the defense… and ASJ fumbling the ball away and maybe Doug running for all 27 of these yards.
