McCoy’s Hand Wasn’t Wrapped
September 16th, 2014A rather somber Gerald McCoy chatted with media on the locker room of One Buc Palace today about his broken left hand.
Joe found it interesting that the mighty hand was not wrapped. Not even a Band-Aid.
That sure seemed like a great sign.
The hand, however, is busted. McCoy said it’s a bone in the left portion of his left hand. And McCoy said it would be hard to play with the hand the way it is now, less than 48 hours after the injury.
Joe sure got the feeling McCoy’s return won’t last too long, as in not more than two games.
Regardless, it’s a big decision for the Bucs. Joe would let it heal. McCoy said he’s doing whatever team doctors tell him to do.
September 16th, 2014 at 1:19 pm
Let it heal so the next team he plays for gets him at 100%.
September 16th, 2014 at 1:22 pm
McCoy is going nowhere
September 16th, 2014 at 1:26 pm
Then why hasnt he got a new deal?
September 16th, 2014 at 1:37 pm
Let him rest. Let’s take a good long look at Bower inside to see if there’s any value to keep it because as a DE he’s useless. Let johnson and gholston start at DE and let see how good or bad we are.

Can’t be great if you’re hurt all the time. This will be 2 1/2 seasons he’ll have missed? Bucs were smart not to sign him before the season. Love him but he’s not worth the money.
September 16th, 2014 at 2:09 pm
Some times fans say things that show how ignorant they are. Take Andres comment for instance…..
September 16th, 2014 at 2:19 pm
Andres is an idiot who does not deserve a keyboard. Since when is he missing the whole season genius? Unbelievable how stupid people can be.
September 16th, 2014 at 2:25 pm
@Bobby Ignorant are the people that troll without backing it up. And you’re an idiot if you justify 100mil a year for a player that you can’t depend on to stay healthy. Bucs were smart to wait on signing him.
September 16th, 2014 at 2:39 pm
@Hawaiian Buc I guess I gotz reading skillz better tan u duh… it dun seems to me dat Gerald wil try 2 ply but doen’t think he be ok to go whic meanss hes gunna get srgrery an be out 8 2 10 weks act leest. Duhhhhhhhhh
September 16th, 2014 at 2:49 pm
Let him rest, we have no idea how this season will play out in the long run, we may need him back 100% if by some miracle we turn this ship around.
September 16th, 2014 at 2:59 pm
Well there you have it, according to team doctor and team GM Andres.

Dude, as you just stated, don’t be an idiot because you’r not backing you’r facts up. Please tell me/us the NFL player that makes a 100MIL a year? Come on and dig it up and then you will see there are no players who make 100MIL a year. Not in salary paid by the NFL. Maybe, if you add all the endorsements up, then maybe a player like Manning in Denver, no one else. Not 100MIL a year.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:06 pm
Andres,
I did you’r digging (wasn’t hard) and the highest paid player in the NFL this year is Cutler in Chicago at…..wait for it……wait for it……17,500,000. Wow, that’s like not even 20MIL a year genius. Get you’r facts straight before calling others out. Talk about an idiot.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:08 pm
@The Fuzzy Red Coin Purse Um… J.J. Watt 6 years 100mil
September 16th, 2014 at 3:13 pm
Andres…if the Bucs didn’t resign Gerald McCoy there would be 31 other teams in the NFL who would be looking to sign him and pay him top $$. That’s how good he is. Your comments just sound ignorant and foolish.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:15 pm
@The Fuzzy Red Coin Purse My point is this… I just hope the bucs don’t sign a guy who keeps getting hurt to a 100 mil CONTRACT.

You just answered you’r own question idiot. 100MIL for 6 years you said earlier paying McCoy 100MIL a year. Read what you type then come back.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:23 pm
Andres,
I got ya if ya don’t wanna pay him 100MIL period, but that’s not what you typed and started name calling like a 12 year old. And, since we are all Bucs fans you could save it for the enemy. Just sayin’. IMO he would be worth a smaller contract because of not being healthy, but some other team will pick him up and pay him. Then we’re right back where we started. McCoy will get paid and I hope he will give us a hometown deal because he has been hurt often. Either way if he had just a few other players to help him out he wouldn’t be double and tripled teamed every snap that puts him into bad situations.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:30 pm
@Bobby – Fine let the other teams gamble a ton of money for a player that can’t stay healthy. He doesn’t get the sack totals to warrant the money he’s wanting anyway. Also, his 3rd and long rush isn’t good enough sure he’s double teamed but he’s not beating those on 3rd down, when it matters. If he was Sapp… different story.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:31 pm
@The Fuzzy Red Coin Purse – See you’re smart, you get it and those guys started the name calling LOL

Really, brah? It’s a freaking broken hand, takes a maximum of 6 weeks to heal completely, can be played with immediately if fitted with a hard splint and club as long as the player can deal with the pain. It is a 4-6 week injury, small bones such as those in the hands, don’t take long to heal.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:38 pm
@Andres….well, let’s see….he had a sack his first game and he was out most of his second game so what are you basing your comments on?? Again, try to think before you type. After his first game the NFL had him rated the top Defensive lineman in the NFL.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:52 pm
@Bobby Ex-fucin-actly “he was out most of his second game” My comments are based on exactly what you just typed. The guy is HOF IMO im not disputing that but only when he’s healthy and that’s not often enough to warrant a huge contract like some people think he deserves.
September 16th, 2014 at 3:58 pm
Every single NFL team wants GMC and would pay the top $$. Every game he is double teamed. If we had more talent on our D line he would be a monster with 15-20 sacks per season when healthy.
September 16th, 2014 at 4:00 pm
What Joe left out is McCoy stating, “”Most of it is pain tolerance, whether I can tolerate it or not,”
Come on man, Mankin’s played on a torn ACL! Tape an aspirin to it Mccoy!
September 16th, 2014 at 4:00 pm
@JMN Yeah… when healthy.
September 16th, 2014 at 4:48 pm
McCoy has played virtually every play the last 2 years. So he’ll probably miss some time with the broken hand… But “keeps getting hurt”??? Not real accurate dude. You play DL in the NFL, you’re going to get hurt from time to time. Dumba$$.
September 16th, 2014 at 4:56 pm
^^^^^ that.
September 16th, 2014 at 5:11 pm
Hands can heal fast, I know. Wrap it up and let him
September 16th, 2014 at 5:50 pm
Joe
Let him heal so that it is not a problem in the future.
September 17th, 2014 at 10:37 am
I agree. Let him heal and ignore Andres.
