Send The Mockers To Jack Bauer

Joe has interesting news to share. Joe just knows Bucs fans are weary of the delayed draft this year. Way too much time for mindless mock drafts, smokescreens and unfounded rumors.

Joe understands why the NFL pushed the draft back to May. Big bucks are to be hand with television programming during a sweeps month (and yes, the NFL draft in primetime is major ratings). It is a smart, yet tedious move.

Well, Joe learned something tonight that could end the drought between the combine and the draft.

It seems the Big Ten Conference is moving its conference basketball tournament from Indianapolis in the near future with the tournament to be played at rotating sites.

What does that have to do with the NFL Scouting Combine? Well, the Big Ten hosts the tournament in downtown Indianapolis about two weeks after combine time. And there is no way the tournament and the combine could be held at the same time. The combine uses up much of the Indiana Convention Center (nee: Hoosier Dome), which is literally across the street from Lucas Oil Stadium and two blocks from the (Jose) Conseco Fieldhouse, the site of the Big Ten tournament.

The Indiana Convention Center is the site of all sorts of fan activities and school functions during the tournament. The events could not co-exist.

With the Big Ten Conference vacating downtown Indianapolis in the near future, don’t be shocked if the NFL pushes back the dates of the combine, in part, to cut back on the too-long time between the combine and the draft.

As for the draft, Joe is totally burned out on it. Weary. Yes, being waterboarded by the mockers has done in Joe. What made mock drafts jump the shark for Joe occurred last week when a prominent national mocker told Joe that accuracy in his mock drafts are irrelevant. That sent Joe over the edge.

If a mock draft is not striving for accuracy, then the whole premise is a farce. If accuracy is not important, then what else is this writer pumping out that as misinformation, such as his player evaluation?

And no, you don’t need mock drafts to determine team needs or to produce player analysis. Joe can tell you a team’s need just by watching a friggin’ game!

This just sent Joe over the edge.

To be honest, Joe is much, much, much more geeked about the return of Jack Bauer and 24 tonight after four too long years than he is about the draft. Joe is actually looking forward to the end of the draft. It’s really sad, but that’s what the mockers have done to Joe. Wore him out then admitted it’s all a ruse to get clicks. MF’ers.

Joe is a First Amendment absolutist but he is so drained and worn out about mock drafts, Joe is hoping there is an FCC intervention so that talking about mock drafts is limited on the public airwaves. Something needs to be done about this mock draft industrial complex.

As far as Joe is concerned, outside of a select few mockers, including Joe’s good friend, “The Commish,” Justin Pawlowski, the vast majority of mockers should be sent to Jack Bauer. He will save America as he always does.

Jack is back, baby! And Joe is so geeked about it!

Absolutely love the words “mock draft industrial complex”.

What else can be said about the number 24 ?

It’s gonna be weird seeing Chris Partlow without Snoop, but I’ll get used to it. Kinda strange that this is being put into the TV death zone of summer, but it’ll still be awesome.

Most of the NFL mocks I have seen have the Bucs taking Evans. Whatever. I know we need another WR but at#7 I think we better take a QB. This is a deep draft for WR and there will be some good ones still available in the 2nd round.

Joe, can INDYbucsfan be blocked for such an egregious comment? Long live Jack Bauer!

As for the draft, I am about worn out from all the educated guesstimates… I will watch it like most of the rest of you, but the extra build up (i.e., pushing it to sweeps week) is enough to push any sane human being to the edge.

Jack Bauer and 24 have not lost their touch. I have never seen a show that when it ends you feel it was half as long as it really was because it flows so well.

Personally I’m hoping this geets a series relaunch, even if it is only 12 episodes per season.

Joe, I think there aree some guys out there that are serious about their mocks. For example, even though he does rankings sooner, Mayock doesn’t release his only mock until the Tuesday before the draft.

He usually gets 7 of the first 10 right.

Otherwise, I am right there with you.

On a side note, Greg Schiano was on nfln today…when did he get that gig?

Ahhh! I feel better now. “24″ is great therapy! What a great way to start last night. I’m kinda digging this new 12 show format. We don’t have to wait for the conspiracy to unfold and for Jack/CTU to figure things out…the action started right off with Jack right in the middle of a plot to kill President Heller! The 2 hour premiere was over before you knew it, it was so good!

Maybe INDYbucsfan should stick to Antiques Road Show or The View!
