Fountain Of Youth For Eli

November 16th, 2018

Reborn Sunday analyst predicts.

The crowd at FootballOutsiders.com is very down on the Bucs defense and very down on Bucs Bit-O-Honey-snacking, Ozark-watching coach Dirk Koetter.

In sort of a message board/live blog, sports radio-type of article, Bryan Knowles and Andrew Potter go back and forth on the subjects of the day in the NFL.

They take a few swipes at Koetter but are really down on the Bucs defense (understandably). And despite the Giants being one of the worst teams in the league, they are of the mind the Giants have enough weapons on offense to terrorize the Bucs.

And the Bucs defense will provide a Florida-style Fountain of Youth for the NFL’s version of Old Yeller, Eli Manning.

Eli Manning may no longer be able to throw an accurate pass more than 10 yards down the field, but with no one on Tampa Bay to provide any coverage, he can just float the ball downfield all game long,” Knowles writes.

Potter mocked Koetter giving him a “Hue Jackson Award.”

Yeah, if the Bucs struggle with three tomato cans like the Redskins had for an offensive line last week, Manning just might have enough time to throw. And one could argue the Giants have as good if not better weapons than the Bucs.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, Joe understands how so many Bucs fans confuse Saquon Barkley with Ronald Jones.

(Sarcasm alert.)

The Bucs will probably win in a way that feels like a loss…and keep Koetter on life support and the Licht on for a while longer.

  2. Cobraboy Says:

Is there any better solution to fixing a QB in a funk than a live scrimmage against a feckless Bucs defense?

    Giants by 2 scores, easy.

    C’mon, Bucs, prove me wrong.

  3. Lamarcus Says:

    Gaints 35 Bucs 28

  4. Lord Cornelius Says:

I’m starting him in fantasy this week lol.

    Beckam/Shepard/Saquon should all eat.

  5. ChanEpic Says:

The Bucs, as strange as it feels to type, have way more talent on offense than the Giants. Making GOOD USE of that talent is the issue.

  6. BucfanBF Says:

The Succaneers waltz out of the Meadowlands with a BIG “L”

  7. Joe Says:

Bucs have deeper talent. OBJ, Barkley and Evan Engram are one helluva one-two-three setup.

  8. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

Giants fans are thinking they finally have an easy game! lol. Do I think the Bucs can turn things around? 15 year history says no. I want to believe they can but they just haven’t showed enough in almost all aspects, especially the last 5 games.

    My prediction, 23 – 20 Giants.

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Bucs 77……Giants 3

Thought I’d throw in some wild optimism

Jameis has to wait at least two more weeks until he starts….\

And Buc “fans” whine about the victory because our draft pick got worse.

  10. Lord Cornelius Says:

Yeah Bucs are deeper but Giants have a legit #1 / #2 WR / TE / elite RB. Their O-line killed them last year but they upgraded that as well with Solder & Hernandez.

Giants probably more talented on defense. They have sucked because Eli is horrible for the most part; but we are so horrible that I’m starting Eli in fantasy lol.

If the Bucs sign Eli Manning I’m probably quitting this franchise.

  11. Aaron Says:

Don’t over complicate it, with the way we tackle, just drop it off to Barkley.

  12. 813bucboi Says:

bucs will come out flat and giants will be up 28-0 by halftime….then in the second half, giants score 1 more TD to make it 35-0 before we score 4straight TD’s and lose 28-35…..fitz will have another 4TD game with 400yards passing and barber will have 105 on the ground…..dirk will say we need to play better and that starts with me….he’ll say fitz will remain the starter sunday night….monday morning he’ll he served his walking papers…..

and you know why they’ll can him monday…..because thats when city of tampa picks up the trash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!….GO BUCS!!

  13. LakeLand Says:

The Giants run a 3-4 defense
Fitz has trouble with 3-4 defenses

OBJ is having an All-Pro season
Saquon Barkley is having an All-Pro season
Barkley has 62 receptions, Bucs linebackers has no answer for him
Barkley also leads the NFL in YAC | 591 Yards

No argument from me there I misspoke, or maybe mistyped. Which is why it felt weird.

  15. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

I’m just focused on our draft position at this point. I want Will Grier…as a backup plan in case the Bucs are truly done with Jameis. Go Bucs.

  16. uckinator Says:

The Ucks will win enough of these c- games to screw up their draft position. It’s a Uck’s life

  17. LakeLand Says:

The match up problem I see in this game

The Bucs linebackers vs Saquon Barkley
    Lavonte David might not go
We might see this group at LB

    Adarius Taylor
    Devante Bond
    Kevin Minter
    Riley Bullough

  18. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

I think OBJ and Barkley may go off on the receiving end of things this week, barkley on a wheel route the bucs have nothing for that and nothing for eli and obj on posts all day long….NYG 5 sewer rats Buc – 14

  19. Jmarkbuc Says:

Blow out win for the Giants, Saquon has a field day….

    38-10

maybe 38-6 if this kicker is the same as the last….

  20. Darin Says:

Yeah Eli can pick his poison. Saquan or OBJ can have 200 yds receiving depending on his choosing. Shoot maybe both. Pretty sure the Bucs packed it in. Gona take 3 or more Giants turnovers to win it. About a .05 percent chance of that.

  21. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Mitch traviskey or whatever his name is spelled threw 6 TD on Bucs D. Bucs D will make Eli look like a hall of famer

  22. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Bucs D makes everyone look like a Hall of famer

  23. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

How sad it must be for our guys like Brooks, Sapp, Lynch, Barber, Rice & Quarles to watch this Bucs Defense play.

Of course, LaVonte David & Kwon Alexander would probably just tell them that they don’t know what they are looking at.

    (sigh)

  24. Dan Says:

Blow out coming . We deserve it for bringing back Dirk , Winston and Licht . It was always gonna be a bad season . Never had any hope with these 3 and still dont .

  25. Rod Munch Says:

Maybe the weather will be bad… that’s the best the defense can hope for.

  26. JIMMY T Says:

FITZ will get his usual garbage time stats padded and the Jameis haters will make more excuses on why FITZ should start. This 3 game stretch w the Skins, Gaints & 49ers should have been 3 wins. What a joke this team is. If Giants win big Sunday Glazers will do something they normally don’t do, FIRE THE HC IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON!!!

  27. FortMyersDave Says:

As much as I want to see the Bucs win, if all things are equal on the field (which probably won’t happen) it will probably come down to coaching and clock management in which the Bucs rank down with the Raiders and Browns at the bottom of the NFL. I see a 2017 Buffalo/Green Bay like loss where the Bucs fall behind 21-3, tie it at 31 and then watch Eli march down the field in under 90 seconds to set up a winning FG or TD by going 5 for 5 to Barkly and OBJ. G-Men 34-31. Oh and throw in a missed FG by Cairo in the mess! This would normally get a HC fired but Koetter stays on to guarantee a top 5 draft pick (Bucs will not catch Chuckie for #1 no matter how bad Koetter and the boys choke, gag, tank or whatever verb you want to use to describe how the Bucs embarrass themselves week after week)!
