“It’s Almost Like The Bucs Are Waiting… “

September 27th, 2018

So who is starting for the Bucs in Chicago on Sunday? Joe wants to know!

Of course, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter is treating this information as if it was JN25. So one can only do math on who may start by using pieces of information.

And that’s just what Ian Rapoport is doing. Appearing on “Good Morning, Football” today, Rapoport believes he knows who is the Bucs starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Rapoport also explains how he came to his conclusion.

You can watch the full details in the NFL Network video below.

Fitz is starting sunday per wfla

  2. feelthepewterpower Says:

Personally, I’d start winston vs Chicago so he’d have live reps vs Atlanta after the bye.

  3. AlteredEgo Says:

Personally I’ll be watching the game a rooting for the TEAM…..a a victory which is what I’ve always done… players names come and go….

  4. Jim Says:

We don’t know who would do what against Chicago. What we do know is Fitz is hot right now and has the better win record with the Bucs. If Fitz starts and wins, I’d recommend Jameis get a long saginaw and a pair of good, warm boots…

  5. El_Buc941 Says:

I think it’s Jameis. Fitz did his job and damn good too. Any news on when Vea may debut Joe?

  6. Etzel Says:

Should be Jameis… So knowing this staff we’re riding Fitz until he tanks in December and takes our record down with him.

  7. Bucnjim Says:

400 yards of offense a game? Jameis we will evaluate the situation after the bye week. This has been the best offense in the HISTORY of this Buccaneer organization and you want to change it? Like it or not FITZ has been a big part of it and even though he struggled early last week he is the one who also brought us back.

  8. Stu Says:

Who is VEA? Is that an alias for MIA…

  9. Etzel Says:

Brought us back to LOSE to a team that didn’t score in the second half. Brought us back to CHOKE on the last drive, throwing 3 straight near interceptions to a trash defense.

Can anyone find the stat for the most passes attempted in three straight games? Cause I’m sure yallz favorite whiteboy is on the list, in these past three games.

  10. mizzle Says:

not starting Jameis after the bye in week 6 will be a major and i mean MAJOR mistake

  11. Robert Says:

    jameis.

fitz is man enough to step back and give JW enough rope to…..

jameis would become a cancer IMO and yeah, his agent would start shopping

i.e. jameis might lose, and we might be better in the short time (few weeks) to start fitz, but in the long run giving the reins back to jameis is the best thing to save face to to, and it also gives him the rope to do with what he will….

and fitz will still have time to step back in and make the playoffs.

cause jameis aint worth $hit in a trade, I don’t care what anyone says. maybe a 4-5th rounder, but the upside is worth losing that late of a pick

  12. 813bucboi Says:

fitz has the hot hand?….lol….those 3ints sure cooled him off imo…..and did some of those other throws that could’ve lead to int’s…..

start Winston….Winston gives us the best chance to win…..400yards passing don’t mean squat if it come with an “L”…..

some fans act like as long as fitz throws for 400yards, win lose or draw he should be the starter…lol….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!!

  13. Robert Says:

and JW just might have learned something and light it up. my issue is it was never about talent with him it was about trust. he’s been caught in sooo many lies.

  14. DBS Says:

If the media didn’t start all this you would know and not have to guess. And isn’t the Media only allowed at a certin amount of time at practice?

  15. Bucnjim Says:

First QB in the history of the NFL to throw for 400 yards a game in his first three. You know the funny thing is I really like Winston! You know what else I like? WINNING! The whole white boy thing screams lack of intelligence. Keep fighting those ghosts of Christmas past though seems to work for you.

  16. Anonymous Says:

    Etzel

The only stat that matters in WINS! Fitz has 2 and Winston has 0. Winston’s fault he has no wins. I am not sure what game you were watching but haters gonna hate I suppose. We lost by 3 not 13 after a horrid first half.

  17. pelbuc Says:

How many of you guys out there thought the Bucs would be 2-1 after these first 3 brutal games? Hell, I would have been happy with 2-2 after the first 4 games. That’s all thanks to Fitz. At least Bucs will be relevant in October. Usually, we’re talking draft at the end of September. All he does is play hard and smart and is more accurate than JW. Notice how his offense plays hard for him and he certainly doesn’t try to get respect by sucking his fingers in an embarrassing pre-game ramble. Now is not the time to play JW.

  18. donuts Says:

    Etzel

The only stat that matters in WINS! Fitz has 2 and Winston has 0. Winston’s fault he has no wins. I am not sure what game you were watching but haters gonna hate I suppose. We lost by 3 not 13 after a horrid first half.

Who would have thought the Bucs were going to be 2-1 to start the season and all the fan griping over a QB- who got HIMSELF in trouble??

  19. JabooBuc Says:

813Bucboi: Fitz also threw 3 TDs and two to Godwin that were flat out dropped. He did enough for this team to win.

  20. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

This is Fitz’ team still. For now, and maybe the rest of the year, but it’s really up to him…

He’s not going to be benched at least until his 400-yd-per-game passing streak/record ends.

  21. Reach87 Says:

More bucs fans sniping at each other and biting on the cheese to denigrate someone on the team. Sad. Go Bucs!

  22. SOEbuc Says:

Should be and believe it will be Jameis. He’s the 24 year-old first round, starter the past four years that looks like he could finally be turning the corner as elite on the field. Test him week four. If he looks amazing, he continues after the bye. If he looks horrendous, Fitz starts week 6. Worst comes to worst, we’re a solid 2-2 team going into week five bye.

  23. ben Says:

Fitz is more accurate then Winston and has better winning %..geez ,, why all the love for Winston ?? He has proved more then once he can’t be trusted.

  24. Bucnjim Says:

Which one of these offensive weapons were NOT on the Bucs roster last year? Is there an addition that is making us better? Jones isn’t even active yet but I have to say Jensen at center is awesome with Marpet back at guard. Could the O line be giving us more time? Yep! Could Fitz be extending drives running the football? Yep! Go hot hand Go Bucs!

  25. Bucnjim Says:

SOEbuc, always respect your posts but have to disagree. That would be like the Steelers starting Bell if he came back today. Not in football shape plus Conner has gained the trust of his team. Will they both be back starting of course but they both have to show their teams they are back and dedicated.

  26. Jordan L Says:

Robert, Ben, and all you other winston haters. Will you have anything good or supportive to say about winston when he does start again and lights the NFL up? If he does. I’m good with playing Fitz while he’s hot. But the stupidity of your statements begs the question of if you are even fans at all. Not one single positive comment about Winston, ever. Quite sad really.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Jameis Winston is the starting QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the back up QB for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

    It’s pretty simple.

Just not as simple as some fans that think otherwise….

Personally I’ll be watching the game a rooting for the TEAM…..a a victory which is what I’ve always done… players names come and go….

    ——————————
Uh, I’ve been rooting for THE TEAM long before Winston or Fitzpatrick came to town. Winston gives THE TEAM our best shot long-term, IMO. Fitz is not the future of our franchise.

  29. Buc1987 Says:

Put Fitz on the trade block…..NO ONE will call.

  30. Mike in LOL Says:

Bucnjim, Jameis has already shown his dedication throughout this suspension by constantly working harder than anybody at one buc place… he looks to be in better shape than ever too.

That said I’m not hating if they start Fitz, but we all know it’s just a matter of time til the magic fades

  31. Bucnjim Says:

Fitz is a product of a Bucs system just like Ronde Barber was but having success within a system still means you are a great player. Winston had the exact same weapons last year. I want Winston as our future but not at the risk of losing games until he is back up to speed. Plus he needs to learn a few tricks from this old dog before taking back over the reigns.

  32. Buchead5588 Says:

I bet we could get a 4th for Fitz maybe a 3rd if we send back a 5th 49ers will take him all day Jameis is back an Griffen can Back him up they both played lights out in the preseason but I like Fitz he did way better than expected there was no pressure on him as soon as there was last Monday well we seen what happens 3 ints in a Row but he has heart GoBucs Jameis is Back GoBucs

  33. Bucnjim Says:

    I am a Winston supporter!!!!

Paid for and sponsored by Bucnjim all rights reserved.

  34. Robert Says:

@jordan you’ll never hear me on the Big Ben bandwagon either. Some people might be great at what they do, but they ain’t role models and will never get my respect. Some lines you don’t cross.

I would expect any man to feel the same about some things, but it’s their things.

  35. Jim Says:

Think we have QB issues? Take a break and listen to some Bear’s podcasts…

  36. Dewey Selmon Says:

Looks like someone is back to singing at the Vero Beach Ramada Inn.

  37. Sweeptheleg Says:

    @etzel

Wow what a plain as day rac ist.

I bet if someone said Winston “you’re favorite black boy” you’d expect out in the streets protesting.

You’re probably mad cause the first of the month isn’t here yet and you’re broke.

  38. Jmarkbuc Says:

So basically, Fitz and the Bucs had a horrible 2nd quarter against Pittsburgh. The Steelers didn’t score in the second half against our sieve of a defense. Don’t know what to make of that exactly, Steelers just more inept than our defense, I suspect.

Bottom line is, on a sloppy field, with sub par Oline play, with no running game and no real Defense, Fitz nearly brought us back from 20 down. If not for Godwins off game and a stupid hold on Djax’s return we might have won going away…

Easy call to start Fitz and see what happens in the bye week..Even Jameis can see that’s the way to go, if he’s as big a team guy as he proclaims.

Who knows Jameis may be coming in to the Bears game anyway, if Mack face plants Fitz the way Pittsburgh did.

  39. GhostofSchiano Says:

Bucnjim Says: Winston had the exact same weapons last year.

Not entirely true, the upgrade to the offensive line (signing Jensen, move Marpet back to guard) Monken calling the plays etc.

I think when Winston (My favorite non-white boy, just for you Etzel) starts he has a chance to be extra special and he will.

  40. ATrain Says:

    Start Jamies

He is Amazing. The Fans say he will take us to the SB with this offense

    BUT NO EXCUSES WINSTON FANS

  41. Dewey Selmon Says:

Hey etzel, They cut Martino and kept Watson. that’s got to sting.

  42. JimmyJack Says:

Haha Dirk. I like your style. So long as both your QBs and the rest of the lockerroom is happy this is great.

I betcha the team is finding a way to use this as motivation. They know they can win with either QB…… Both are warriors!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  43. Sweeptheleg Says:

Winston will start again probably sooner than later. But when he starts his butt passes and fumbling these FSU homers will blame anything and everything on someone else.

I hope he succeeds. I love the Bucs. I don’t care who starts I just want to see my team play well and be regulars in the playoffs.

But my god theses FSU homers are something special and not in a good way.

  44. gotbbucs Says:

It was so refreshing not having this damn circus the first couple weeks, it almost felt like a calm winning culture took hold. Now the clown show steps back in the ring.
I can’t wait to see the real players on this team ignoring his stupid antics while he watches from the sideline.

  45. Sweeptheleg Says:

    @dewey

Yep he’ll say it’s cause they’re rac ist.

It’s a shame we have to share air with people like Etzel.

  46. Buc68 Says:

Good grief people keep giving Fitz credit for “almost” bringing us back. He did not come close to bringing us back. When it was money time, he had time to throw and threw 3 straight passes to the “vaunted Pittsburgh secondary”. He went from playing good in the second half to terrible the instant pressure came. He completely chocked.

  47. DI Says:

Cracks me up when people talk about how Winston had the same exact weapons last year. Even if you ignore the personnel changes on the O line and running back, you know who also had the same weapons last year? Fitzpatrick. He didn’t exactly light up his three games either. It’s almost as if the changes they made in the offseason actually made a difference…. hmmmm.

  48. LakeLand Says:

The only difference from last season is the offensive playcaller. I have been saying for years that Dirk Koetter is a terrible playcaller.

  49. webster Says:

    @ robert

Who did you vote for? Yea, lets hold the football player to a higher standard then the pres. That makes a lot of sense.

    @ sweeptheleg

Everyone that backs jameis are not fsu homers. But i will play your alternative facts game. All those who spew idiotic takes about jameis are fsu haters. See how that works? Probably not.

  50. webster Says:

    @ robert

I bet you think kavanaugh is getting a raw deal too.

  51. Sweeptheleg Says:

    @webster

I don’t care what you say. You’re as smart as a wet paper back full of sh**.

    @D I

Fitz was 2-1 last year smart guy.

I don’t care who plays QB I just want the team to win.

  52. LakeLand Says:

Everyone remembers the 56 points the Falcons hung on Lovie and the Bucs. When Dirk was calling plays for the Falcons. But the Falcons went on to lose 5 straight games after the Bucs win. And they only scored 89 points during those 5 games, averaging less than 18 points a game. It don’t matter if it’s Fitz or Winston, as long as Koetter isn’t calling the plays on offense.

  53. Dewey Selmon Says:

Sweep, yeah the only colors that should matter are pewter and red.

  54. James Walker Says:

Who cares. They are both good.

  55. DI Says:

    @Sweeptheleg

You’re obviously missing my point. People say Winston didn’t light it up last year with the same weapons. That’s implying impressive stats. Fitzpatrick didn’t light it up last year either. It’s a team game. It just means he didn’t do anything to lose the game, but he didn’t light it up either.

I’m not taking shots at either quarterback. But too many close their eyes to things that don’t support their argument.

  56. Bucnjim Says:

FITZ 66% winning percentage as a Bucs starter. I want Winston to be that player! Joe’s are right when they stats really don’t matter BUT it is glorious when we are winning we can throw those stats around. It has been so long I’m for winning not who my favorite QB is.

  57. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Any news outlet or reporter or radio jock saying their sources are telling them that its Fitz, their source is really Ian Rapoport.

But why do I get the feeling that Ian Rapoport is being played?

This is smelling more and more like planted information. Think about it…the players are Ian Rapoport’s source? The same players he predicted were not good enough to have a winning season? You really think they’d have a problem misleading him?

I have a feeling Ian Rapoport is going to have egg on his face.

  58. DI Says:

    Just win baby

  59. Greg Says:

A lot of people just dont want to see it. Fitzpatrick is just a better QB. Since hes been with the Bucs last year he has a winning record (4-2) averages more yards and touchdowns and less turnovers. If you want the Bucs to win its Fitz. If you just want to be an emotional Winston fan you want him no matter how much we lose. Go ahead, lets hear your attempt at insults, your fat talk about how Jameis is going to do this or that but ignore the facts.

  60. DI Says:

My issue with Fitz is that he’s near the end of his career and he’s shown us what his ceiling is. I’m not bashing Fitz, but it is what it is. He’s played marvelously for the first two games and decently for the second half of the last game. If we ride with him for the rest of the season and he plays well enough to not lose games, I’m fine with that. But he isn’t the future. Winston is young and he is still a work in progress. He showed a lot of growth in the preseason and has lots of room left to grow. We can’t throw in the towel on him yet or we just hit the reset button on this franchise for the hundredth time in this franchises history. There’s a reason why Cleveland has been Cleveland for so long.

    2016…. No DJax… Winning record….

We dont need to worry about DJax to win…

We need a run game and better Defence… The least of my concerns is what JW does with DJax…

I jist want our D to step up win JW gives us the lead in the 4th quarter LIKE HE ALWAYS DOES….

Anyone think JW goes 3 and out on the most important drive of the season thus far????

  64. Bucnjim Says:

Well Trent Dilfer won with a running game and a D so I see your point.

  65. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Greg Says
“A lot of people just dont want to see it. Fitzpatrick is just a better QB. Since hes been with the Bucs last year he has a winning record (4-2)…”

His wins last year were against garbage teams. When he faced a good team, he could not beat them.

This year, he is playing with an improving defense and a vastly better offensive line.

Winston’s fumbles last year? They were due to two things: His injury and the offensive line that let it happen. Incidentally, his sacks were higher too, because of that oline.

You talk about emotion…but isn’t fear an emotion? Because the only reason you would want Fitz over Winston is fear that Winston won’t be as good or better.

Let me set your mind to rest…he’s better. Much. Much. Better.

Put Jameis behind this online, and not only will he score more, but he won’t throw three picks in a quarter. He’s more pocket savvy, and he played better than Fitz in the preseason. Every preseason. And, let’s not forget, he and Fitz split time with the starting roster in those three preseason games.

  66. FreeTheSecretWeapon Says:

Anyone other than me remember us LOSING Monday Night???

So, its what have you done for me lately… Oh thats right you lost… Threw 3 picks and choked when the pressure was on…

You got iced by a D that got toasted the week before…

Hot Hand is hot cause it got burned.

    Wake the frak up…

I cant see them starting Fitz because he has us 1 game ober 500… Now if we were 3 and 0… MAYBE…. MAYBE, YOU SIT Fitz…

Roger did us and JW a favor for a reason by only handing out a 3 game suspension…. They found nothing on him other than he wasnt completely transparent about a situation he like forgot about the moment the door shut in this gold diggers face…

  67. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Etzel Says
“…I’m sure yallz favorite whiteboy is on the list, in these past three games.”

    Ian Beckles! You’re here!!!!!

But I do agree, Winston should start.

  68. Buc1987 Says:

Joe …please keep reminding us that Jameis has a 9-7 season under his belt.

It still hasn’t sunk in….cause everyone keeps telling us Fitz’s magical record with the Bucs. Okay you guys are right Fitz is a STUD!!! smfh

  69. Kansas95Buc Says:

this used to be a cool site to hear peoples thoughts on the team but damn has it gotten sour….

  70. Ryan Orwig Says:

I could give two craps who starts! Like a wise man once said,”just win baby!”

  71. Buc1987 Says:

Again…put Fitz on the trade block with his 3 straight 400 yard games tomorrow.

The phone will never ring. Yet somehow Bucs fans think he’s a QB God.

Put Jameis out there….and that phone WILL ring….a lot. For a reason.

You judging who is smart is like a new born in a arm wrestling match with hulk hogan. Your bias opinion about fsu “homers” is very weak. You are a fsu/winston hater and it is very appearant. Gtfooh

  83. JabooBuc Says:

Um yeah, Fitz didn’t choke. Godwin did when he dropped two TD’s and fumbled. And I like Chris but he choked.

  84. webster Says:

    @ jaboobuc

Did you say brate choked when he dropped 2 tds against the patriots? Did you say the kicker choked when he missed 3 fg and an extra pt against the patriots? Did you say the 32nd ranked defense sucked when they gave up 4th qtr leads with 3 minutes to play after jameis gave the bucs the lead? Did you say OJ choked when he fumbled twice in the red zone last year or did you blame winston? Just curious

  85. Sweeptheleg Says:

    @webster

I’ve been watching this team since 1987 little boy. So you gtfo with your stupid a**.

You’re a blind FSU homer that will make any and every excuse you can. It doesn’t matter though when Winston gets his job back he better succeed because if he doesn’t it’s the highway.

  86. TonyC Says:

Chicago has absolutely no offense. This defense can contain their pithy receiving corps and their running game is “ok” based on the stats that I’ve seen. It’s going to be about picking up blitzers and hitting mismatched receivers (Bears have a mediocre secondary). The Yucs should win by 10.

  87. JabooBuc Says:

Webster- not sure what any of that has to do with whether or not Fitz choked but yeah, I would agree with you about those. You can probably look it up.

  88. Duke Says:

    Free,

If the steelers last series was the most important of the season, why wasn’t winston playing?
Thats the question not if he threw 0 of 3. He’s proven that he can go 0-3 . Also proven he couldn’t be there in crunch time.

  89. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

Winston must’ve been playing through an injury, but in addri N to brate’d TD drips against the Pats I remember Winston having some poor throws in the first half and what felt like 3 and outs.

Also, Webster, do you think Mike Evans was labeled a “possession” receiver bc Winston’s throws gave him less opportunity for Yac?

I think Monken’s play calling AND Fitz’s deep ball acumen are to thank. A lot of credit needs to go to Fitz for connecting with DJax.

Remember, Terrell Owens said fitz’s deep ball was the best he ever had the chance to receive from QBs. Including: Steve young, Romo, Bledsoe, Mcnabb, Carson Palmer (who had a pretty deep ball himself) among others.

I understand you Winston to play. We all want our number one pick to play, but until he can earn the right to start, and demonstrate that he can make good decisions with the ball and off the field, he’s on the bench.

  90. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

I would happily give Jameis a pass if his INT was by a mistake of botnof his own: not a forced throw/bad decision/hero ball.

I judge Fitz equally, acknowledging he may have less physical talents but the man is making the right call at the line and executing.

If we can protect he will go off. I think Winston can play well too, and I hope he matures and is our franchise future for years to come. However, Fitz is lighting it up and deserves to play until otherwise.

Fitz is inspiring this team, at least acknowledge that as they are 2-1 thru the hardest schedule to open the modern era.

I love the Bucs, and would love for our fans to look 👀 at our QBs thru an equal form of judgement. And by that judgement: film and production of fellow players, our QB is balling.

Fitz also had a 50, perfect, wonderlic. I am glad we have a loyal and committed veteran on our team to step up when our franchise qb gets suspended for shenanigans.

Let’s go Bucs! Beat da Bears!

  91. Duke Says:

Monken calling plays, well what pass winston can’t throw is the deep ball. What play does Monken call early and often, deep balls. So how you guys think that plays to Winston’s strengths?

I’m also curious how a back up journey man is even in the discussion with a 1st round thoroughbred. You seriously can’t expect a 1st round 1st pick to be no better than a 7th rounder. Saying winston needs a chance with a new center and a play caller who is a mad bomber is as weak as it a strong argument against winston.

Go back to the lab and cook up some decent defense for your guy. Cuz now ya’ll more weak Dix than that geriatric silver domed dolittle defensive coordinator. 33d ranked defensive argument for winston. 1st in the viagra sweepstakes.

  92. LakeLand Says:

Will the Bucs pay Jameis Winston $21 million next season to ride the bench?

If Winston is the future, then he need to be playing now

  93. Duke Says:

And I want winston back asap. So it ain’t hate Playa!

Making a case for winston v the bears is easy and not one of you guys have made it.
Why does winston give the team a better chance to win?
Try answer that question with real football logic.

  94. webster Says:

    @ sweeptheleg

87? Dont make me laugh. I had already been to my first bucs game 2 years before crack head. I wont even go anymore because you think your football knowledge is based off how long you have been a fan. You are an idiot. And yes, you bash jameis because you are an fsu hater

  95. webster Says:

    @ sweeptheleg

There is nothing about me is a boy. Check yourself fool

  96. webster Says:

    @ steve k

First of all, the bucs were the 2nd best team as it relates to 3 and outs last year and that is with winston having a bum shoulder for most of it. You talk about winston’s first half of “poor” passes but you dont think fitz threw “poor” passes in the 1st half on monday? Hypocrite? Fitz has never had a deep ball “acumen” his first 13 years but you want to act like fitz has been warren moon his whole career. You are a joke. There is a reason he is on his 8th team. He only had 3 years where he was over 6O% completion and not one was higher than jameis last year. So what are you talking about? Fitz has never shown he can make the right decision ie 8th team. But sure, i will let idiot tampa fan like you preach as if fitz has been aaron rodgers. I love you clowns

  97. webster Says:

    @ jaboobuc

You were quick to to defend fitz about choking. Thats why my comment was relevant. I asked you a yes or no question. Did you defend jameis the same way? Pretty simple. And telling me to look up old post is not answering the question

  98. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

Why do you get all defensive and name call?

    C’mon dude!

Why is Fitz 4-2 with better numbers than Winston? Why does T.O. Say Fitz has the best deep ball he received throughout his HoF career?

Fitz’s pick six was a bad decision.

The other two picks were not.

Can you elaborate on Jameis’ butt pass pick six in GB? That was a bad decision

  99. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

Jameis is 18-27 as Buccaneers starting QB. Guess how man 400 hard passing games he has? 1.

Fitz has three in a row this year and won the first two NFC player of the week, with 6 for his career. Has Jameis been NFC player of the week? I think maybe his eagles game?

Anywho, you must acknowledge that Fitz has better deep ball acumen with Desean Jackson at this point and I’d argue that our receivers YAC is increased due to the presentation of Fitz’s throws hitting them in stride.

  100. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Wow

1985, 1987… Both of you are about 10 years behind some of us. Not that it matters.

Be happy that we’re 2-1, damn near 3-0 and quite possibly 3-1 with whichever QB plays..

Want to bitch and moan? Discuss this putrid Defense…Now there’s something to worry about.

  101. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

Bottom line between Fitz and Jameis there are two sides to the story and the truth lies somewhere in between. I ask that the FSU homers, much like the Freemanites, try to use an equal lense for judging QB play.

If you can’t acknowledge Fitz laying well, then shame on you!

  102. JabooBuc Says:

Webster: I have defended JW’s play in the past. Again, you can look it up. Let me ask you a question. Did JW choke during the first 3 games this year? Big time players show up for big time games. Where was JW?

  103. SteveK Says:

    Jmarkbuc,

Hell yeah! I hope the defense carries the second half momentum into next game.

Me thinks Jordan Whitehead over Conte is like Peyton Barber over Doug Martin: should’ve never been behind them on the depth chart.

  104. webster Says:

    @ stevek

For whatever reason, my response to you did not come thru so i will respond again. Sorry if it comes thru later and it is repetitive.

First off the bucs were like 2nd in 3 and outs last year behind the oatriots. You get on winston for a “poor” 1st half but you give fitz a pass for a “poor” 1st half? Hypocrite? Fitz deep ball “acumen”? There is a reason why he is on his 8th team. Fitz in his 14 years has only completed over 6O% 3 times and his highest was not higher than jameis last year. I laugh at fans like you. You act like fitz has been aaron rodgers the last 13 seasons. He has not. He has been fitz. Fyi..fitz has never shown he could make good decisions with the ball on the field and that is why he is on his 8th team. Yes he has had a stretch these last 3 games that no qb in HISTORY has ever done but i am not putting him in over brady, montana, bress, marino, both mannings and also not jameis. He is fitz.

  105. Not there yet Says:

3ints in a half with Winston sitting on the bench? That’s the fluid situation dirk is talking about. If we’re getting blown out in the first half again against the bears say bye to Fitzmagic in Tampa because he’d be done and he Winston goes in the game

  106. webster Says:

    Jaboobuc

Jameis has stepped up many games late. He is a clutch player. He has won about 8 games while trailing in the 4th qtr since he has been in the nfl. He has giving the bucs the lead to win the game about 7 other games with 3 mins to go where the defense and kicker has failed. It takes a team. And if you are going to overlook fitz horrible play in the first half, why cant you give jameis credit for being able to put this team in position to win with 3 mins to play. Spread those 7 wins over the past 3 years and the bucs are in the playoffs in at least one year …see raiders game in ’16 and knocking on the door of playoffs the other two years. And he is only 24

    Effing crickets!

  108. Buc1987 Says:

Chirp chirp chirp…and ya wanna know why?

    Cause ya know I’m right!

  109. webster Says:

    @ jaboo

Fitz only had one year where he was close to playoffs 2 years ago and he crapped the bed in week 17 when the jets needed him most. There has never been a time where we said fitz was clutch. Jameis was clutch all the way back to pee wee, high school, college and the pros. The last time was the saints game. He is built for clutch time. Too bad the defense is not.

  110. JabooBuc Says:

Webster- I haven’t seen anyone here claiming that Fitz is the 2nd coming of Tom Brady. He doesn’t have the arm of JW or stature. He’s not 6’5 and 24 years old. However, what he is is extremely smart. He’s like having a coach on the field. He’s very experienced. He’s seen most of what the NFL has to offer and has been good enough for teams to continue to call upon his services.

JW may be the more gifted QB but Fitz just might be the better fit for this team. This team is very talented at the WR and TE positions. The OLine has protected well thus far. They don’t need a playmaker at QB. They need a distributor of the ball. Someone making smart decisions getting them in the right plays. Finding the mismatchs. JW has had problems in this area in addition to be an idiot off the field.

  111. JabooBuc Says:

Webster: I’ve given credit to JW in the past for his play. Noticed that you didn’t answer my question. Did he choke this year by not being there for his team this year?

  112. Buc1987 Says:

This is going to go on until week 6?

Not for me…I will bail out on this crap eventually….it’s redundant.

  113. Buc1987 Says:

Jaboo….so many football players can’t stand him…that’s why 25 of them came out and practiced with him daily. Cause he’s such an untrustworthy scumbag.

  114. Buc1987 Says:

The 49ers need a QB……surely they would want Fitzy and all he has to offer. I’m sure he light it up just the same in San Fran….he’s a rock star now.

    @ robert

I bet you think kavanaugh is getting a raw deal too.

I sometimes appreciate your opinions regarding the Bucs

But if you can’t see the similarities between the railroading of Jameis and Kavanaugh, I guess you’re just blinded by your politics

Maybe you should just leave the politics out

  116. Buc1987 Says:

    Gruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuden!

    Gruden would take Fitzy.

Try to pry a 2nd rounder out of him.

    Strike while the iron’s hot!

  117. webster Says:

    @ jaboobucs

Not sure what you have been reading but many idiot fans on this board as well as media/national media believe fitz is the better qb. What have you been reading/listening to?

    @ go

A poster on this thread said he could not support jameis due to his allegations. I simply pointed out the hypocricy because that same poster is cool with kavanaugh and the pres. Not sure why you are confused about that.

  118. webster Says:

I meant @ gp for my last post

  119. webster Says:

    @ gp

I dont know if its “railroading”. My point is if you give a pass to the pres and kavanaugh for “alkegations” but you cant give a pass to jameis then you are a hypocrite. Understand? Probably not

  120. gp Says:

    Webster
I have always held that Winston is innocent until proven guilty
he was railroaded and the NFl made their decision based on politics, not proof

My response to you was pointing out a perceived hypocrisy of your own
when you implied that Kavanaugh must be guilty because of his relation to “the pres”

My point is that allegations without proof are hot air, regardless of who you are or where you stand

    Dump the politics

    This is a football site!

  121. webster Says:

    @ gp

Not once did i imply kavanaugh is guilty. What i implied was the poster had kavanaugh’s back eventhough he he had “allegations” and he clearly did not have jameis back due to his “allegations”. Again, not sure why you are confused

  122. webster Says:

    @ g

Go back and read the comments. He clearly said he could not support jameis because his allegations and he crossed the line. My response was that poster still backed kavanaugh. What is the difference?

  123. webster Says:

    @ gp

That poster believes the pres and kavanaugh can live out their dreams and prosper with their allegations, but he also feels jameis should not have the same opportunity. How is that fair? What is the difference? I clearly see the difference.

  124. webster Says:

    Btw gp

The pres and kavanaugh have more allegations than winston. So again, how is that fair? That is my question

  125. gp Says:

    Idiots can have opinions too
I did read (this thread) and don’t recall seeing him bring up Kavanaugh
I’m just sayin….. leave out the politics
    It doesn’t help your argument

Hell, I’d even stand up for godeep (erp) if he was accused of something heinous without any proof

    (PLEASE don’t, I don’t like the guy)

  126. gp Says:

If you are in the spotlight you are an easy target for someone with an agenda

chew on that for a while

  127. webster Says:

Oh, i get it. You want me to leave out politics because you want kavanaugh. Ok cool. I get it. But my argument is definitely helped. If a poster is going to say jameis does not deserve to be a qb in the nfl and can not support him due to his allegations, i can definitely ask why you and the poster thinks its okay to have a judge who could be appointed for life with allegations? I can definitely ask why can the man who holds the highest office can have allegations. Why can the poster and obviously you support him but not winston? Why are you and the poster holding a football player to a higher standard? HYPOCRITES!!!!!!

  128. Sweeptheleg Says:

Webster why don’t you just shut up you flaming liberal hack. Probably living in your mother’s basement waiting on that EBT to hit here in a few days.

  129. SteveK Says:

    Webster,

If Winston was innocent with the Uber situation, why admit fault with an apology and why take the suspension? Why not fight tooth and nail to clear your name?

  130. LargoBuc Says:

At this point I support whatever Koetter decides to do week 4. There are pro’s to starting both. With all there is to work with on this offense, both qb’s should be fine.
I’m alit more concerned with this defense on the road. If Trubisky shreds us, oh goodness…

  131. SteveK Says:

    LargoBuc,

Amen to that. If Trubisky looks like Brees/Reothlisberger this week, then we need to make a major change on defense over the bye week.

  132. Jman Says:

Cause it doesn’t remind me of anything

  133. Richard Dickson Says:

Why rush Winston back on a short week with the bye ahead of us?

  134. Bucsdelight Says:

Fitz should start. He has had the hot hand the last 3 weeks. Jameis just got back. Give him a breather for a week and see what Fitz does.

Joe, any word on Bucs looking at Le’Veon Bell in a trade?
