Report: Alshon Jeffery To Miss Bucs-Eagles Game

August 28th, 2018

“Hey football gods, I thought I sold my soul when Mark Ingram got suspended. You guys outdid yourself.”

Great Bucs news this evening.

It’s no big surprise, but it feels awfully good to see it looking so official.

The Eagles’ big-production receiver, Alshon Jeffery, will not play against the Bucs in Week 2, per the Twittering of BSPN NFL insiders Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen.

Jeffery hauled in nine touchdowns last season on 57 receptions, plus three touchdowns and 12 catches through the playoffs and Super Bowl. He had shoulder surgery in February and is still rehabbing.

The first word that springs to Joe’s mind is “beautiful.”

  1. Godeep66 Says:

The Eagles are upset that JWs suspension takes him out of the game.

  2. DBS Says:

And have the Bucs mabe it to game 1 or out of it yet without major injury? Don’t be getting to excited yet.

  3. Dave Pear Says:

    Godeep66,
This nursery rhyme is for you.

Little Godeep got caught screwing his sheep,
    Making his Mommy so angry,
She said, leave them alone, and get your butt home,
And make sweet love to your Mommy.

    OOOOOHHHHH!!

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

LMAO here. it does not matter. Teams have beat us in the past with a variety of 2nd and 3rd stringers..every season. Bucs just need to be ready to ball out. I can guarantee you all..Philly will be ready even if they got the Villanova squad playin that Sunday.

  5. GreG Says:

The Bucs are great at failing to take advantage of injuries like these

  6. Mike Says:

Good teams beat other teams at full strength. Watching the injury report is for losers and should we skate by simply because of a lucky injury laced path, we will eventually be hammered by a solid squad and exposed. Let’s focus on being and beating an actual good team.

  7. Ricky Newsome Says:

Sucks I would rather play everybody at full strength, its the only way to prove you belong

  8. Stanglassman Says:

I’m sure the Eagles are really disappointed JW3 since last time they played against him a lost 45-17. Winston threw for FIVE TDs. They are like oh no we have to play Fitz, the guy who lost his starting jets Qb job to Josh McCown.

  9. Lord Cornelius Says:

I think Nelson Agholor may be more valuable for them this year. Guy finally started coming on last year (fantasy sleeper)

  10. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Celebrating injuries to players is not good Karma. I’ll pass.

  11. BoJim Says:

I’d be more excited if their backup QB couldn’t play.

  12. Kobe Faker Says:

philly is going to throw 80% short the whole game to test the corners but the true matchup will be…

Zach Ertz vs our redheaded Matador Kwonie

philly offens will take a step back and rampup end of the year, HOWEVER

Philly defense going to be NASTY and going to eat some fried Fritz

“I heard Gump is going to take out new HC Jim Schwartz to checkout the real estate with swimming pools near the Tampa area”

    Kobe Faker

  13. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Nick Foles has beat us each time we’ve played him so it’s not going to be easy because we are what we are the Bucs.

Hey Stanglassman you know what I’m saying? They know what Jameis can do and he was a rookie then. Lucky them they get to play Fitz. Noles struggling and their best receiver out, we need all the help we can get.

Ha ha unogodeep.66 up here trying to get some attention since his mommy won’t give him any since henogodeep.

  14. BucEmUp Says:

This is the kind of news I hate. The Bucs have always been notorious for winning games they shouldn’t and losing games they should. The last thing I want is for them to go into week 2 thinking they have been blessed to play against a team with an unknown qb situation and injuries that should make them be able to take their foot off the gas. KOETTER INCLUDED!!!!

THEY BETTER DROP THE HAMMER AND NOT LET UP!!! EVERY GAME, EVERY SNAP!!!!! I DONT CARE IF THEY GET A THREE TD LEAD. THE SCORE IS ALWAYS ZERO ZERO!!!!!

  15. Ricky Newsome Says:

Mike you hit the nail on the head

  16. Dex Says:

    Another stupid article!!!!

  17. Buc’nIrishman Says:

So stupid yet you read the whole thing all the comments then commented. Hmmm

  18. DBS Says:

And for it to be another one must read lots of them too!!

  19. Defense Rules Says:

Onboard with Bonzai … It’s not good form to celebrate injuries to any player. Sounds like Philly will be missing Jeffery & probably Wentz (still not cleared for contact as of yesterday), while we’ll be missing Jameis for sure. But we might still be missing Donovan Smith at that point, as well as Vita Vea, hopefully not though. Injuries suck no matter who has them, but they’re a fact of life in the NFL unfortunately. Personally prefer it when both teams are at 100% strength & go at it mano-a-mano … let the best TEAM win. Bucs’ starters will be able to hold their own with anyone this year.

  20. Jmarkbuc Says:

    What Mike said

  21. BucTrooper Says:

if you’re a long-time Bucs fan like I am, you’ve heard this story before. Big start on good team listed as “out” for Bucs game and it sounds like a chance for the Bucs to steal a win. Then, some no-name scrub comes off the loading dock at Best Buy and drop 8 catches for 155 yards and 3 TDs on them only to NEVER be heard from again.

  22. Wausa Says:

It definitely benefits the Bucs for him to be out

  23. PSLBob Says:

I agree that taking pleasure in another team’s injuries, while initially comforting, does not provide comfort in the long run. I’ve fallen into that trap before, and the result wasn’t what I’d expected. Most true Bucs fans believe we have a really good team this year. If we’re going to make the playoffs, we’ve got to beat good teams. Hoping their rosters are depleted belies that confidence. Bring your best and we’re still going to kick ass!

  24. Buc1987 Says:

Yes all you bring your besters and we’ll bring our best……..BUT our team is the Bucs. Stop all the nonsense.

    This helps OUR team!

    Period!

  25. gp Says:

    Celebrating injuries is bad Karma
On the other hand, I’ve never seen an opposing team “take it easy” on us because of injuries and don’t ever expect it
Take advantage and take no prisoners!

  26. PSLBob Says:

Not saying it’s not an advantage to play teams that have starters on the sideline, just think it doesn’t really give you a true reflection of your team’s capabilities. I’ve been a Bucs fan since Day 1. Been through the many lows and rare euphoria. An eternal optimist. This year is going to be different (Lucy please don’t move the football)!

  27. BuccaneEric75 Says:

It’s not a stupid article. The purpose of JBF is to give fans information. They’ve given you information. They’ve done their job. How you feel about the information is not their problem! Good job, Joes!

  28. AMEN! Says:

A big AMEN for what Mike said.

The aim in the regular season is to beat the best teams out there and beat all the other teams that we “should beat” too. We don’t just want to make it to the playoffs. We want to be ready to make a run for the Super Bowl every year.

The goal is to bring home the Lombardy Trophy. Nothing else!

What happened last year and the previous 10 years should always be irrelevant for true hard-core Bucs fan! The team here has to jettison its losing mentality in order for this to happen. The “poor baby, long-suffering” fans need to drop their losing mentality as well!

This year is as good as any for fans in general to change their mindset.
    ____________
    Go Bucs!!!!!

  29. Mike Says:

I don’t recall our playoff/Super Bowl era team being too concerned with the injury reports- we created other teams injury reports- we were feared

I remember when we played San Fran, took out Rice and Young I think in the same game if I recall correctly. I was at that game in attendance.

Never hoping for creating injuries- but I am all in on crushing people. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled but that’s the standard for me as a fan. I want a team that dominates.

  30. XpfcWintergreen2 Says:

A big “AMEN!” for what Mike said.

We must beat the best teams as well as all of those teams that we “should beat”. Playing just to make the playoffs is not what it is all about. Division championships and National Football Championships are worthy team goals and bring excitement and pride for the fans. But, ….

The season games should be played so that the team will be prepared to make a run for the Super Bowl every year. The goal is to bring home the Lombardy Trophy! Nothing else comes first.

What happened last year and the previous 10 years is irrelevant for the true hard-core fan. The team has to jettison any trace of the loser mentality in order to win championships. The “poor baby”, “long suffering” fans must drop their losing attitudes and expectations as well.

This is as good a year as any for Buccaneer fans to change their mindset. Raise your expectations and forget the past. Watching your team build and grow should be a great pleasure. You will enjoy the process and the game experience will be a lot more fun.

  33. Mark Says:

Mike forgot to mention we won’t have our starting quarterback. Kind of a big deal.

  34. Anonymous Says:

Ya I can’t believe we are happy not to play teams at full strength.
I would much rather take a 100 essay question exam then a 20 question multiple choice test.
    Says no one ever.

Just beat whoever is in front of you.
    Go BUCS!!

The ‘ol strength of schedule argument made moot yet again.
You have to play the team in front of you. PERIOD! Their best against your best that Sunday.

we have our own problem to worry about…..

last year, philly had starters missing the entire season….j.hicks, j.peters, d.sproles and others…..and yet they still won it all!!!!!

bucs had players like grimes, LVD, kwon, Winston miss 2,3,4 games and we mailed it in….blamed injuries…..lol…..
