Could Corey Davis Slip?

NFL Network analyst not in love.

The Bucs need a wide receiver worse than Joe needs a cold beer on a steamy July Friday afternoon.

In fact, Joe will suggest the lack of quality receivers after Mike Evans cost the Bucs a playoff berth. When a team is one win from the playoffs and banked on a medical courier and a big band leader from the Vero Beach Ramada Inn to stretch the field, what can Joe say?

So if there is a good receiver available to the Bucs at pick No. 19 in the draft, Joe is of the mind to pull the trigger.

Many believe Corey Davis of Western Michigan is untouchable at No. 19. Davis, for most draft analysts, is either the best or second best wide receiver available.

But not Bucky Brooks. The NFL Network draft watcher believes Davis is No. 3 in his position rankings.

So, at No. 19, could Davis fall right into the lap of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht?

  1. USFBUC Says:

    He could but I’m really hoping we will have addressed WR in FA which will allow us to go WR in the second or third round.

  2. Joeypoppems Says:

    @USFBUC

    Agree 100%. Going into the draft without having addressed your #1 need is a bad idea. Never want to be at the mercy of the draft board.

  3. Joeypoppems Says:

    And on the topic of Bucky Brooks. In his mock draft he has the Bucs getting Derrick Barnett, yet another expert thinking the Bucs will go for another pass rusher. Corey Davis is more likely to be there at #19 than Barnett tho.

  4. Eric Says:

    I absolutely want him as well as someone in Free Agency. Davis is young and can grow with Evans, Jameis, Brate, Marpet, Donavan, and Humphries.

    I also like OJ Howard. I would pull the trigger on him if we address WR in free agency too. Go OL in round 2 and RB round 3 for depth and hopefully retain Martin. Imagine Jameis, Evans, Desean, Brate, OJ, Humphries, Doug, Sims, Quiz. Wow.

    Not sure what people think about Ramcyzk but that’s another player I’d be down with. Free agency can’t come soon enough.

  5. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Boy I sure hope the Bucky Brooks is right for once.

    Corey Davis would be a monumental addition to our team.

    Kid does everything great. His best qualities are the sharp routes, natural hands, and big play ability due to his deceptive speed.

    The one negative ive read about Corey Is that he likes to do this stutter step thing at the start of his routes that could potentially throw off the timing of a play. But i think thats a pretty minor negative, compared to a littany of positives.

    Unfortunately I have zero respect for Bucky Brooks talent evaluation.
    Thus Im still pretty sure he wont be available.

    Joeypoppems

    I’m sure the following will be off the board – when we pick

    • Solomon Thomas
    • Derek Barnett
    • Corey Davis
    • O.J. Howard

    But hey stranger thangs have happen

  7. Deminion Says:

    He not gunna be there 🙁 dude is a stud

  8. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Address the Following in Free Agency

    WR
    TE
    OG/RT

    DE
    CB
    S
    SS

    Then go into the draft – address

    RB
    TE
    OL
    DE/DT
    LB/SS <–Big Nickle Back
    WR/KR/PR

    We good

  9. Guzzie Says:

    I’m starting to beat the drum for Robert Woods, he’s had over 500 yards every year without a decent QB, a legitimate WR1 opposite him in Watkins, and played in a run based offense. He’s young, has decent speed 4.45 ok size 6’0 200, played at USC, he’s not going to be a 1300 yard receiver but given the opportunity he looks like a 1000 yard number 2. Plus relying on rookies to be big contributors is a risky proposition, of course draft one, we should draft one every year, look at Green Bay and Pittsburgh, they always draft a size/speed project and let them sit until they become experienced and lethal

  10. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Didnt know that Woods was a FA but i do like his game. Im all for hitting Wr and De/Dt har in FA and then drafting potential replacements in the draft.

    Also not gonna lie if we get good enough Wr’s in FA i would 100 percemt use our 1st rounder on O.J. Howard.

  11. Chris Says:

    Absolutely get him if he’s there at 19. Free agency? You want to pick from a bunch of cast offs. Some of the ones you guys are addressing would be hard pressed to beat Adam Humphries out for 2/3. Guys with 40 or less catches some of you name. I want what Oakland has with Carr. Two young studs to grow with and that you can’t double both. Evans and Davis would be great to have.

  12. Guzzie Says:

    Chris….Crabtree was a young stud free agent that was a bust playing with a bad QB and predominant running offense, just like Robert Woods, rookie receivers take time to make an impact

  13. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ Guzzie

    Right on. Woods is a solid receiver, reminds me of former Buc Mike Williams. Justin Hunter would be a solid addition, too. He played well in the limited role he had with Buffalo.

  14. Chris Says:

    6’0 200 lbs, 4.5 40, 11.0 yards a reception in college. Not a guy who can take it over the top on defenses. We already got a guy like that, Adam Humpries.

  15. Chris Says:

    And 12.0 yards a reception in the NFL. Yeesh, we need playmaker, speed,….not another possession receiver. Why? So we can get receivers in free agency so b the Bucs can draft your Seminole gut Cook? Unbelievable.

  16. BKNYfootballhead Says:

    @ Chris

    So you wouldn’t be satisfied the Chris Hogan’s play? Another fine example of players raising their game on a new roster that Guzzie made

  17. theodore Says:

    Jameis has neither the spiral nor the accuracy to hit a fast receiver down field, so what’s the point? His long balls flutter.

  18. Joeypoppems Says:

    @LUVMYBUCS

    Yea most likely they all will be gone. If one of the top prospects at a position of need at #19 hopefully they trade back.

  19. Joeypoppems Says:

    *none of the top prospects

  20. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    What USF said. And Cooper Kupp should be a target in the second. How a team with no feature back biggest need is a #2 WR is kinda peculier to me.

  21. Joeypoppems Says:

    What I’m about to say might anger a lot of people and might just be a plain dumb idea to some.

    But if I’m Jason Licht and Dalvin Cook is there at #19 for me to take….. I’m seeing what I can get to trade down in the draft. If he is as special of a player as people say he is then maybe a RB needy team that picks after us like the Giants, Packers, or Raiders (if they lose Murray) will overvalue him and give us a little more than normal to get him.

    If the Packers call up and say they will give us their 2nd and 4th round picks to swap 1st rounders, to me it would be hard to turn down. Especially with the depth of this RB class.

  22. Buc1987 Says:

    He could fall and I’m hoping he does.

  23. DallasBuc Says:

    Oline and kicker cost us a playoff birth.
    In other words, free-pass Licht cost us a playoff birth.

  24. Eric Says:

    Ummm if Evans was even a second quicker, then jameis would have had probably 5 more touchdowns this year. He barely overthrew those homeruns nearly every game, Theodore. We definitely need a speedster as it would open up the deep threat and once they play back knowing that jameis could go all the way in one pass, it would open up everything underneath.

    I don’t agree with you at all man.

  25. BuccoDav Says:

    I think you guys are getting ahead of yourselves…
    I thought back-up punter was the priority. If we bundle our first and maybe third, I bet we could get the best back up punter coming out of college.

  26. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @theo

    Thats weak dude.

    Maybe if Jameis had targets with real speed, those overthrows wouldve been breadbasket completions for touchdowns.

    Also, Dont know what you’re talking about with Jameis’ spiral. Sure, not every throw is perfect. But ive seen him throw some beauties. Ala the two deep touchdowns in week 1.

  27. jjBucFan Says:

    Chris, I agree, but look at Bortles with 2 young stud wide receivers in Robinson and Hurns and can even throw in a 3rd with Marquise Lee having a good year. No RB and offensive line play at all. Bortles obviously isn’t as bad as he played this year, he had less time than Winston. I personally love Ramczyk in the first and move D Smith to RT. Not sexy, but takes care of 2 problems and we have to address WR in FA. We now need 2 RBs at least and a center. WRs can be had in the 3rd-5th round, not that uncommon. The only WR for me in this draft is Mike Williams and he will be a top 10 guy. If we took C Davis at 19, I wouldn’t cry, just don’t trade up for anyone, we need too many pieces.

  28. Buc1987 Says:

    theodore Says:

    “Jameis has neither the spiral nor the accuracy to hit a fast receiver down field, so what’s the point? His long balls flutter.”

    Wrong.

  29. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Man were they beautiful indeed.

  30. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Jj the minute Jville address that backfield Bortles is going to explode. Young QBs need that run game man. No two way about it.

  31. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Thing is it is not that we didn’t get play from our WR unit this year cause we did. People just kept going down. Vjax went down,Short went down,Hump went down. They are not the best in the league but had we avoided the injury bug at that position we might be having a diffrent conversation about WR entering this draft. Ion care who they bring in Shep better be kept on this roster.

  32. R.O. Says:

    “Could” he? Yes WILL he NO.. if somehow he is there at 15 is it worth it to move up? Maybe if it’s next year’s 2nd and this year’s 4th.

  33. 813bucboi Says:

    wouldn’t mind d.barrett….wouldn’t mind corey davis…wouldn’t mind d.cook….but if they aren’t on the board at #19 what do we do?…reach?..select BPA?….

    I say trade down, collect more picks….having 1 first round and possibly 2 second and 2 3rd round picks would help this team a lot….GO BUCS!!!!

  34. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Nosbos every single scout/ analysts/ local media personality sees Wr as our number 1 need.

    What makes you think you know better?

    See I can do it too.

  35. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    We want WRs aces but I look at that unit in NE and say to myself WR in the first round????

  36. Eric Says:

    LOL Theo is about to getting eatin up in these threads spitting inaccurate criticism like that.

    @blake his spirals? lol what?

    Speed is the only thing JW is missing…

  37. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    So every scout wants us to look like Jville??? If You think I’m better continue to feel that way dude.

  38. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    And what exactly is it you’re doing???

  39. Buc1987 Says:

    Eric…gotta keep’em in check!

  40. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Also why must you speak as if you know the facts when you clearly dont. We got 1300 yards out of mike. Roughly 600 out of hump and brate. And the other 7-8 guys combined didnt even match Mikeys production. Please dude. Do some research before you talk as if you have.

  41. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Fella I told myself I wasn’t exchanging wit you anymore. Don’t make since to mix words wit kids. ME is clearly the ace of the unit bright boy. Doesn’t take genius to see why his totals are greater than they’re combined. See his target number in comparison.

  42. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Now you’re reaching. Blake Bortles cant hold Jameis’ jock sweat. And Jvilles offensive line makes ours look like the infamous Great wall of Dallas. Plus Quizz is already better than either of theor backs. Throw in Donta Foremam or Mixon, and another 2 legit receiveing weapons, and we become a top 5 offense. Simple as that.

  43. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Ask yo super smart @$$ to get off the tip of my stix a week ago. But if you want it everyday smart guy You can get it.

  44. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Ima leave you to your miniscule opinion. Draft night approaches fella.

  45. Buc1987 Says:

    Yeah NOS 3 months to ago…

    Dalvin for the next 3 months. lol

  46. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Donta Foreman??? See the size of those two FBs we signed a month dude.

  47. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Lol dont get salty at me because I routinely expose your simple self. Also havent muttered 2 words at you since monday so i dont know what in the world your talking about.

    Also doesnt make “since” that a grown man doesnt know how to spell sense, also that he knows a lot less about the game than a “kid”

  48. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    So 87 it would be better if I were like blake and Co. All over the place with draftees everyday???

  49. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Bright boy you continue to use the spelling that makes you feel comfy I’ll use the one I like. Got myself a fan. Who woulda thought.

  50. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    So you’re delusional in addition to being illiterate.

    Interesting…

  51. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    And what exactly have you exposed??? The hate in your heart for a young man about to see millions while you fix pippings..

  52. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    I understand bro,jealosy and envy is like the most infectious disease. Now grab that wrench and get busy bro.

  53. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    His name will be in the headlines for years to come. You’ll always be jag fella.

  54. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    I like Quizz a lot…great depth…great situational player…not a STUD game changing back. Doug is and has been overrated even without the Molly. 2 years out of 5 he was “good” not great and the other three he was awful.

    I want an impact player in the backfield. This is why I hear NOSBOS loud and clear. I KNOW Dalvin IS an impact player. I hear all of you on this board who believe Mixon is an impact player. If you think he’s Dalvin…OK I’ll listen to drafting him….but if he’s all that he’s going in the 1st round…just like Dalvin and Fournette. IF EVERY team passes on him through two rounds something smells fishy to me…yeah punching women is a no no in today’s NFL but if he’s truly reformed and not a Lawrence Phillips some team(s) will figure that out quickly and take the chance.

    Bottom line for me…I feel far more secure with our current WR’s than I do our RB’s. We need to get some SPEED…why not in our backfield AND at WR?

  55. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    That you speak quite frequently as if you know what you’re talkong about, when you don’t. Like a week ago when you said it made no “since” for the Jags to draft Cook because they already had two backs just like him. When both of their starting backs combined for less than 1000 yards rushing.

    And now you say hey have no Rb’s and thats the reason why sorry af Bortles is sorry af.

    Also saying that we got production out of our receiving corps when any intelligent fan could tell you we didnt. And the numbers back it up.

    All the time you try to make claims as if their true, when if you did 5 minutes of research before saying it, you would know that its false.

    Also no hate in my heart brother, just god’s eternal love and mercy.

  56. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Fake @$$ wanna be talent evaluater.

  57. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Bro you filled wit hate. The mere fact you only mention negatives in relation to him tells me so.

  58. LargoBuc Says:

    Im all for drafting ramczyk, as he is strong in pass protection. Build the trenches. That said, Poe would be a great FA signing, taking opposing running games out of the equation. Just look at the impact Damon Harris had in NY.

  59. Eric Says:

    @stpete

    I rarely disagree with you but I’d say doug was better than good his rookie year and in 2015. Leading in broken tackles and yac in 2015. 1900 yards from scrimmage in 2015. He was the only player in the last 5 years to have 230+ yards from scrimmage. Oh ya and he did it twice.

    I’m biased cuz he’s one of my favorite players but if that’s just good then most the teams in the nfl are screwed because they won’t find great. This is another reason I vouch for him. He’s better than good when he’s on.

  60. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Stpete

    Imo there is a better chance of Mixon going round 1 than round 3. Round 2 is where I feel he will get drafted. The incident will scare teams away from taking him round , especially with all the media coverage round 1 gets, which is a factor in whether you draft him or not. However in round 2 the talent will be worth the risk to a lot of teams.

    I’m on the opposite side of the fence as you when it comes to comfort level in our current RB vs WR

    Ive used this “stat” on a few different articles on here. Quizz was on a 16 game pace for 256 carries for 1100 yards (which is also why I dont think our O-Line is as bad as some others). If Quizz had that success, when to draft a RB isnt even a conversation.

    Now on WR their is nobody ither than Evans. We cant rely on any if the receivers on the roster to be an actual threat. Right now teams can just double Evans and then not really worry about our other guys. Which is a bigger problem to me than a 3 down feature back

    With all that said WR problem is easier to fix than the RB problem seeing how there are plenty of capable #2 receivers in FA even if the name values arent there. RB needs to be addressed in the draft

    All this is just my opinion tho.

  61. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    And when did I say Bortles is sorry af??? Once str8in they’re O line and get more production out they’re backfield Jville will be contenders. If I’m a new HC which they will have what will be my biggest concern going into the draft hmmm let me think. A super talented RB or attempting to protect my young QB??? You tell me dude..

  62. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Eric

    Yes, those are impressive numbers. However he hasnt been able to show he can consistabtly do that. Factor in the injuries and the terrible years and overall he is just a “good” player

  63. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    I love Quizz tenacity Pop. I just think he’s more Sproles than 16 game starter.

  64. LakeLandBuc Says:

    The FSU back that the Bucs should be focusing on is ” Freddie Stevenson” their FB from Bartow. I believe he is the best FB in the draft, and he can run the ball when needed. He’s a good blocker, he can catch the ball, and he will be there in Round 6.

  65. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    I said lake bortles is sorry af. You said once someone in he backfield he’ll get better. Wrong.

    And just because i share a differring, more negative opinion of cook than you, doesnt mean i hate him at all.

    I dont know why you assume that.

  66. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    When you make accusations be able to substantiate what you are saying with proof. Go in archives and pull up when I said “Bortles was sorry af”. I’ll be waiting.

  67. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Oh okay. Well I happen to think if he didn’t have to focus on winning all they’re games with his arm posing behind a weak O line he’ll be just fine. You people are sorry way too frequently for someone that isn’t playing in that league bro.

  68. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    @Eric

    Doug seems like a nice guy and so it’s easy to cheer for him. I certainly concede he had two very good (if you wish to call them great I won’t quibble) years…but he continually got hauled down from behind in that second productive year.

    I just think 40% is a failing grade. Doug has been good/great only 40% of his time with us. Next year he’ll miss 25% of the season…it’s just time…but I certainly accept your point. He excited a lot of Buc fans during his good/great two years.

  69. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    These young men put alot effort and time into making it to the league for someone to just pass them off as sorry. He might not be on the top level QBs level but sorry. Bortles is not sorry.

  70. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Bortles got two great WRs but what does it matter without a threat of run game. Nothing.

  71. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    It doesnt matter because Bortles has regressed every year. And will most likely continue to regress.

  72. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    Im sure both RB and O-Line will be areas the Jags look to improve. When it comes to the draft as of right now there is a waaaaaay better chance they go RB than OL. There just arent any OL worth a top 5 pick this year

  73. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

    I would be just fine with Davis as the pick. Ross is too small for my liking but Davis is a game changer. By the way Joe, I have never been a fan of most of your nicknames and your tag lines ala every Peter King quote you reference. However, the Freddie Martino Ramada Inn lounge singer cracks me up every time you write it.

  74. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Were it not for the video I might feel differently. But because of the video I highly doubt Mixon gets drafted. Lael Collins was graded high. He didn’t get drafted and there was no video in his situation. Mixon will be a undrafted free agent.

  75. Eric Says:

    ya you guys both make great points. I was just saying when he’s on, he’s on. overall though, he’s only good and that I agree with.

    Seems to be a correlation with motivation and production for him. he should be motivated this year so I could see another 100+ season. I want him back ugh.

    he doesn’t have the burner speed to take it to the house though. If he did, those numbers would be great without question.

    I hate January. Ya the superbowl is coming but there is nothing but the senior bowl and mock draft until free agency in march. February is hard to get through.

  76. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    And thats funny coming from someone who is a member of the Gmc basher club. Gmc plays hard too. Last year he played through a broken hand and a bum shoulder. But ive seen you say a few times now that we’ll never win with him on the roster.

    And thats a guy who’s put in a lot a blood and sweat for this team. Dont see you refraining from sharing your negative opinion of him.

  77. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Maybe he has blake but there are factors that have lead to that. You can’t ask a young QB to come in And be Rodgers year one or two. Young QBs need Run games defense and solid O line play. Has he had that ??? No. Ben won early because of this factors some can be said for Russell Wilson.

  78. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Don’t change the narrative dude. We talkin something else right now.

  79. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Also, Collins didnt get drafted because it was an incident that occured right before the draft. And it involved murder.

    Mixons issue happened 2 years ago, and he’s done nothing since then.

  80. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Feel how you wanna feel dude, the video exist and it hurts him. You seen Ray Rice lately???

  81. Kevin Says:

    Should have had sanu last year….helped atlanta get to a superbowl. This years wr fa pool sucks. Missed out last year

  82. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    Cant compare Mixon and Collins. Collins was in the middle of a murder investigation and his agent said publicly that if he wasnt drafted after a certain point he wasnt going to sign with that team. He wasnt a suspect in the investigation, but it is still more serious than what Mixon did 3YEARS AGO whether there is a video or not.

  83. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    The video does matter and it will be the reason he is drafted round 2 instead of 1

  84. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    I respect your opinion. My is I’ll be surprised if he get drafted.

  85. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Kevin lowkey like Stills. Please don’t tell Erik ion want my bro thinking I’m not in favor of his wish for Pryor.

  86. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Pop are you sure he would be being mocked in the first??? Right now Cook,Fournette,McCaffery and Kamara are. Who would be out??? Or do you think all five would be mocked in the first were it not for his situation.

  87. Joeypoppems Says:

    I dont get why people keep saying the WR free agent class this year isnt good. Is it becuase there are not many 25-26 year old guys in their prime? Cause to be honest I dont think thats what the Bucs need. Sign one of the three 30 yr old vets (all coming off 1,000 yard seasons….that doesnt suck) and use a day 2 pick on a WR and groom him to be the #2 after that vet is gone. That is the best long term solution.

  88. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    First off only 1 mock that I am awarw of has all 4 of those RBs going round 1.

    And Mixon is on the same level as Cook and Fournette. It would be a toss up who would be the 1st RB taken. He would definitly be ahead of McCaffery and Kamara. Dont think all 5 would be 1st round picks.

    Mixon and Cook have very similar skill sets. Both are good receivers out of the backfield. Both have good burst and vision and the ability to make guys miss in the open field. One thing Mixon has over Cook that I dont see many people talk aboutis that because he was sharing carries with Perine, he doesnt have the wear and tear on his body that Cook and Fournette has which could be a huge positive in his favor

  89. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Nosbos, many people, including the commish and luke easterling, believe that if not for his incindent, Mixon would be rated higjer than everyone. And i agree. Originally I liked fournette the most, but upon learning that his ankle injury from this year coupd become a chroniv one, my opinion of him soured a bit.

    Joe Mixon looks nearly identitcal to Le’veon bell. He has the same breakaway speed that cook does, in addition to being bigger, more elusove, and more powerful.

    Plus he has the one thing that I desire almost as highly as any physical trait. He runs with an attitude. Mixon is a beast. And i personally believe he still may be drafted in the 1st round. I could see Seattle taking him without a second thought.

  90. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Damn this phone… And damn those typos.

  91. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Blake

    This is my prediction for Mixon. He goes 32nd to the Patriots and goes off to become ROY and the narrative changes from “how can you draft him” to “why was he passed on”. Then Belichick looks like a genius…..

  92. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Wear and tear??? Ion know bro,rarely did I notice Jimbo give him the rock more than 18x a game bro. I like my guy because he would be walking out of one system and walking right into one very similar to previous. I watched Mix play a few times, skillset is similar. Just can’t deny Dalvin having an extra gear that He doesn’t. People saying No to RB in the first but h3ll more RBs going in the mock I’m checking in the first than WR.

  93. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    “He has the same breakaway speed”” Really??? Upload his ultimate highlight for all of us to see. The first few plays show him being ran down from behind. Go ahead blake upload that’s your thing right.

  94. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    The shoulder surgeries count as wear and tear. To my knowledge Mixon doesnt have any injury history. I was referring to that more than the amount of carries. And Mixon does have an extra gear. Watch his bowl game (vs Auburn) and his game vs Texas A&M. He demonstrates that quite often.

  95. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    And he doesn’t do it for anyone listening go check Mixon ultimate highlight for yourself to see what I’m talking about.

  96. Bucsfanman Says:

    I almost forgot what this thread is about after reading through the comments!
    Playmakers! That’s what the Bucs need.
    What’s with all the OJ Howard love? Am I missing something? He may be one of the best TEs in the draft, but is he a game-changer? Somebody get me to speed on this.

  97. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Didn’t say he doesn’t have one I’m saying not like Dalvin’s. And if the shpulders are an issue that would lead me tho believe he will something other than “looonngg gone” like people like to say round here.

  98. Bucsfanman Says:

    Playmaker! Please!

  99. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Bucsfanman

    I would say he is a game changer. He is an excellent blocker in the run game and he is that stereotypical matchup nightmare. Too fast for Linebackers to cover and is too big for safeties to matchup with. He can stretch the field and is very effective in play action. Has YAC ability that our offense covets. Daniel Jeremiah and Mike Mayock compare him to Greg Olson from Carolina. After the Senior Bowl practice week he might be out of reach for us at #19

  100. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=l1PkiOroeZE

    No breakaway speed you say?

    And yeah Joey Ive already mentioned a few times now that cook had 766 touches. And that doesnt even include plays where he was in pass protection. Nosbos dont care, he also doesnt see multiple shoulder surgeries as a potential redflag.

  101. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Fanman that’s what I’m talkin bout bro. Can’t think of a better playmaking option to be honest.. Dudes hyping Mixon,after Ray Rice I wanna see duke go in second. I wanna see this.

  102. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    I never said it will be an issue. I just said teams can look at that and look at how Mixon has been healthy and grade Mixon better because of it.

  103. Bucsfanman Says:

    @Joey- I guess while watching him I just didn’t see him as 1st round material. I’ll have to go back and look. If they’re comparing him to Olsen, that’s pretty freakin’ high praise IMO. Thanks!

  104. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Okay I got you Pop. Blake if you look at that video and see a better RB than Cook then I will be humble in respect for that sentiment. Gose without saying mines would remain different from yours. Not saying he’s garbage(like you so loosely throw around) but Cook he’s not dude.

  105. Bucsfanman Says:

    @Nole- Hey, I’m perfectly fine if we land Dalvin Cook. I think a lot of our draft strategy will be contingent upon what they decide with Doug and FA. Mixon’s not a bad back either. Like I said, a lot will be determined prior to the draft.
    Fun times speculating though!

  106. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    I hope the shoulders do factor in that betters my chances. Ask I know is when Emmit Smith blew his out agianst the giants that one time in the meadowlands it didn’t stop him from going on to be the leagues all time leading rusher.

  107. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    That’s all it is Fanman. Speculation. They come at me everyday about my wish for the draft so having the mindset I have everyday I put my set up And give it back to’em. I rather die than back down.

  108. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Or was that game in dallas???

  109. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Yeah i know he’s not cook. He’s better. And why would you hope that your team drafts a guy with bum shoulders?

  110. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    Here’s a thought. I’ve been reading all the draft dreams here. I share many of them with you.

    So…seems the only answer is to trade everybody on the team except for #3 and we draft 7-9 player in EVERY ROUND. We can have everybody we want!

    (OK snark font off now)

  111. Guzzie Says:

    why all the hype about Alvin Kamara he weighs 194 pounds, wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucs pass on Mixon and he becomes the next Leveon Bell, while we draft the next Quizz….anywho, this article was about WRs, back to Robert Woods and his 12 yard average, that’s the farthest his QBs could throw, and he comes from a run based offense, and he ran a 4.45 not a 4.5, Hump ran a 4.56 and Evans ran a 4.52, we need a number 2, and a speed option but most speed options aren’t the WR2, they are complimentary receivers that open up space for the primary receivers, a couple of deep throws a game, occasionally they hit a big gain, im looking at Woods as the best possible number 2, hes young, is productive, and has good speed, 4.45 isn’t slow Beckham ran a 4.41, we need weapons that can grow with Winston, plus hes not going to break the bank

  112. Stpetebucsfan Says:

    Doug is gone!!! He played 40% of the time he was here…two good years out of five. He is already on the sideline for the first four games next year…25% of the season.

    He was NEVER worth 7 Million and he won’t be worth what his agent expects…even 2-3 million is a waste.

  113. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Better at what??? His numbers don’t support your argument dude. Same dude trying to make light of how I use the word “since”. Homie I ain got no sense that’s why I spell it since. Not my operation statement everyday to come to jbf an come across as the smartest person on the site I’m not.I’m not an cool wit being the arsehole here. But dose that make you bro, check wit me daily. I come here to speak my mind an keep it moving homes.

  114. Buc1987 Says:

    NOS…nope. Carry on with your quest, but it’s going to tire you out I think

  115. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Guzzie

    Kamara is explosive. He can do it on the ground and is also a great receiving threat on screens mainly. He is a Home Run hitter. And I wouldnt be mad at a Robert Woods signing. I’d rather have him than Pryor or Stills.

    @Stpete

    I hope youre right. It wont be hard to upgrade our RB position. The RBs that will be there on day 2 are better than Sims and Quizz. Thats the main reason I would rather get a RB in those rounds than Cook or Fournette in round 1.

    Defense round 1. WR and RB day 2

  116. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Then you upload a video of Mixon and wanna talk about the comp Dalvin ran against those opponents all look like middletennst appalachianschoolofarts or some s@$!.

  117. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Tire come on 87 how disrepectful Big bro. I’m like Kevin Gates”I dont get tired”.

  118. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Lol still trying to se college stats as an argument lol. Go ask Akali Smith how much college stats matter.
    Also, he split carries with another young stud, Samaje perine.

    Also, Mixon is better at making people miss behind the line. He’s more powerful. And more creative/ elusive in the open field.

  119. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Last time the world seen that Cook fella he put on show! What was Mixon’s last game???

  120. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Dude we comparing two college players, what else do we have to com??

  121. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    OMG that cant be the best vid you couldve found bro..

  122. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    Mixons last game he put up 180 total yards and 2 TDs. Not a good argument point lol

  123. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    So now you like scat backs??? When we first started debating you were big on Fournette and his power. “I like running backs that can run people over” your words.

  124. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Against who Pop???

  125. Guzzie Says:

    Nole…Mixons last game he had over 90 yards running and 90 yards receiving in the same game and his counterpart Perine had 84 yards rushing I think it was against Michigans very good defense, comparing Cook to Mixon is a wash, but considering Cook would be a 1st, and Mixon would be a 2nd at the earliest, Mixon is the better value, the Bucs get either guy our RB situation would be greatly improved for sure, but grabbing Mixon later allows us to upgrade another position in the 1st

  126. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    Auburn in the Sugar Bowl. Auburn was ranked 11th I believe. Their ranking shouldnt matter tho.

  127. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    You might wanna recheck that ranking Pop. I just did bro.

  128. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Yes, we are comparing college players. But im comparing traits that will translate into the pro game. And you’re comparing meaningless stats.

  129. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Hence the “i believe”

  130. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    So they were 14th instead of 11th. Doesnt take anything away from what he did that game. Like I said, their ranking doesnt matter

  131. Guzzie Says:

    My mistake Woods ran a 4.51 at the combine and a 4.45 at his pro day, he’s still a cheap young upgrade over Hump, Martino, etc and considering Pryor won’t be available, hope he’s a target for the Bucs, his experience is move valuable than relying on a rookie as our WR2

  132. Rob Says:

    Waist of a post. He will be gone before we pick. top10

  133. Negative Jeff Says:

    Corey is toooooo slow. We need John Ross, Washington. Speed Merchant! Blows the top off a defense! The top comes right off! No more top, people, with Ross on the field. Defenses will be topless.

  134. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Dude to make some dumb @$$ comments talking translate to the pro game what leads yo bright @$$ to believe Cook game won’t translate to the pro game. Now that’s flat out stupid!!! So tell me why he’s about to be drafted in the first. Are you smarter than people that work in the NFL??? Are you the best kept talent evaluating secret unknown to the league??? H3ll you jag guy.

  135. Buc4Lyfe79 Says:

    Concensus #1 & 2 WR draftees DON’T last past the top 15. Why the shade Bucky Brooks? Who did ya a solid for putting this crap out, or more like it, who yanked your chain and gave you talking head orders??

  136. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    You was jag yesterday, gone be jag tomorrow. And will remain jag ten years from now fella.

  137. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    This dude says meaningless stats. Wow its those meaningless stats that are about to make his life quite lucrative dude. I hope my next FSU RB give me 5500 total yards. I’ll take those meaningless stats any day.

  138. theodore Says:

    I see everyone having a cirlejerk around my spiral comment. First, I wasn’t commenting on our need for speed, I was commenting on Jameis. Second, I know what I see every week. His passes have no velocity, they flutter. No speedster is going to be running under his passes.

  139. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    He bout to be ballin on you boy. On and off the field.. jag.

  140. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

    Ha ha😂you salty on that man.

  141. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Nosbos

    Donnel Pumphrey is the all time leading rusher in FBS history and he will be most likely a late day 3 pick. OJ Howard has 1700 receiving yards in 4 seasons and will most likely be a top 15 pick. Stats don’t tell you the whole story of a player which is how I took it when Blake said “meaningless stats”. Just dont know if meaningless is the word I would use

  142. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Theodore

    Any possibility that “his passes have no velocity, they flutter” because he is trying to compensate for lack of speed these receivers have?

    Just playing devils advocate

  143. Buc1987 Says:

    theodore…we all have different sets of eyes.

  144. theodore Says:

    @Joey – Don’t worry, I’m the devil apparently.

    And I can’t imagine Jameis holding back on his passes, but maybe he has to put more air on it to give WRs more time, make use of Evans’ height. I just haven’t seen a deep ball thrown tight from him.

    This is his best pass all year, and it flutters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhtKN0r0S6k&hd=1

  145. Dirks Great GranPappy Says:

    Let’s just hope cook doesn’t bring that fumbling problem with him if he is drafted by the Bucs

  146. Buc1987 Says:

    theodore…like I said we all have different sets of eyes. That was me being nice.

    So here’s about 15 deep balls that DON’T flutter. Put your glasses on now though. I don’t want you to miss any of them all.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=db2XVyfSbGI

  147. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Nah not salty at all bro. Phone died. And we’ll see bro.

    I already know im getting my 50 on draft night. But we gotta wait 5 years for the hundo.

    Also, just so you know, when you throw around all those insults and fake cuss words, you’re the one that comes off as salty.

  148. James Walker Says:

    Unlike most highlight Youtube videos, this guy Corey Davis is making catching when covered like a blanket, his double move is very fast, and he breaks tackles. He looks like an NFL receiver. Most highlights the receivers are wide open or the coverage is busted.

  149. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    And yeah dude, you finally said it right. Every yard, every td, all that production college, dont mean a thing making the transition to the pros.

  150. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Also theo you’re outta your mind dude. No velocity? Wtf are you alkong about man. Jameis has a top 10 arm dude. You need to get your eyes examined.

  151. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Talking*

  152. Jeagan1999 Says:

    I watched a lot on f Phio St. games this year, and I really like Curtis Samuel. The guy is a terrific runner and receiver. He doesn’t have Davis’ size, but I think Davis will be gone by 19!

  153. theodore Says:

    @Buc1987 – Nice video! But my eyes must be bad, because forthe few deep balls in that video, all I see is wobble.

    Cheers!

  154. Jeagan1999 Says:

    Make that…”Ohio” St.

  155. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    Of all the things to nitpick about a quarterback, whether or not they throw perfect spirals is probably the dumbest.

    Peyton manning didnt throw perfect spirals, neither did Kurt warner.

    Also perfect spirals has nothing to do with velocity man.

    Pertty sure you’re trolling, if you’re not then wow. You have a lot to learn about the game of foot ball my friend.

  156. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    And Jeagan I like curtis samuel a lot as well. Although i definitely see him as a Wr at the next next level. Because he had really good speed and hands. He could be our tyreek hill.

  157. Jeagan1999 Says:

    @Blake_Bucsfan….my thought exactly. Samuel may not be quite as fast as Treek Hill, but he pretty damn close. He could be a threat as a runner, receiver and special teams returner. He’s got speed aplenty!

  158. Buc1987 Says:

    theodore….well you’re right then. They don’t need a speedy WR until they get another QB that can get him the ball.

    You’re right. Let’s draft QB.

  159. Trubucfan22 Says:

    When dude runs a 4.3 40 time at the combine, he will be right back into the top 2.

  160. USFBUC Says:

    Alright I just watched an extended video of the Joe Mixon incident and after doing so I am onboard for drafting him and so is my wife. Some notes about the incident that an article and the unedited video revealed.

    They were both hanging out at the local post party, drink food joint. She had a drug possession charge already. She waved Joe Mixon over to the table she was at with her friends. Something was said and Mixon turned to walk away. Mixon was then hit from behind by the girl and she then continued to hit him as he held his first punch. Then after being hit several more times Joe Mixon hit the girl. The girl nor Mixon called 911 and waited for authorities.

    All that said I still think Mixon should have found some other way to handle the situation but to me it does not appear that he was the stalking, angry, football player that the media made him out to be. He and she were both probably drunk or high given her criminal record. They were underage and didn’t want the police involved. Mixon reacted poorly but it seems likely that drugs or alcohol were involved in the situation. He has served his time both with community service and a year long suspension from the team. He should be allowed to play and if he is available we should draft him.

  161. USFBUC Says:

    I have spent some time looking at Cook and Mixon and I like both guys.

    The biggest differences I see between the two are: Cook is a more fluid runner. What I mean is that while they look to be the same speed Mixon slows down to change direction and Cook maintains his speed as he changes directions. The other difference I see is that at times Cook goes down with the tackler and Mixon seems more willing to take on hits and fight the tacklers.

  162. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    Usf I think that Mixon is more than capable of maintaining speed whilst changing direction. He is just a Le’veon Bell/ Cadillac Williams type of runner, and has an extremely patient approach. And with the info you just posted, I would be more than satisfied if we were to use our 1st round pick on Joe Mixon.

    There, I said it. Were I Jason Licht, I wouldn’t risk Passing up on the next Le’veon Bell. Not when there’s a chance that he could be drafted by the Seahawks. Or worse, the Patriots.

    Jason Licht has said it before, He’s not looking for choir boys. Another one of his favorite adages, ” You gotta risk it, to get the biscuit. “

  163. Alonza Robertson Says:

    Davis’ head coach at Western Michigan was former Bucs WR Coach PJ Fleck. Remember how much all the players loved him and his methods?

  164. Guzzie Says:

    If Joe Mixon blows up the combine, Im talking AP style, measures 6’1 227, like he’s reportedly weighs, runs a low 4.4, with his receiving abilities, he’s the only running back I’d like to take in the 1st round, a month ago everyone said he’d go undrafted, now he’s being discussed just about everyday, long way to go, but I don’t see him getting out of the 1st, ask yourself if you’d draft Leveon Bell in the 1st

  165. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    @Theo

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyFb5vsDlrk

    Watch that and shut your ignant self up.

    Appreciate a Franchise QB when he is in your presence.

    Buy in Now or forever be viewed as a maroon.

  166. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    No velocity… Smdh.

  167. mesh Says:

    One of the top three should be there at 19. Mike Williams, John Ross, Corey Davis. The only other question is what do you do if anything else falls to you? What if Derek Barnett is there? Cam Robinson? We had a big problem at right tackle the last 4 games and I don’t see that being addressed in FA. If we are able to pressure the op qb faster that’s going to take a lot of pressure off of the safeties….

    I still don’t think it would be wise to draft a RB in the first. They tend not to last. IMO it makes more sense to get one later, ride him for the 4-5 seasons his legs last and then move on.

    IMO Corey Davis falls and we grab him though I would not be upset with John Ross. They are both better route runners than Mike Williams imo and I think they will both translate to the NFL especially with a true number 1 opposite.

  168. Blake_bucsfan Says:

    @Mesh, I got 2 major Problems with Ross’ game. Number one he catches nearly everything with his body. 2 he wheighs 180 pounds and has shown nothing to suggest that he can be press coverage. That’s kinda why I honestly prefer Cooper Kupp, and Curtis Samuel as WR prospect in the second or third.

  169. Not there yet Says:

    It’s mind-boggling how Jason Licht has gone out of his way to avoid adding legitimate receiver core to the roster which reminds me of Mark Dominick. When you think of a team jumping up into the second round to get a player to help but points on the board you don’t think kicker

  170. Last Buc Fan Says:

    Zay Jones anyone? Best in the senior bowl.

  171. mesh Says:

    @Blake_bucsfan I don’t necessarily disagree with you from the film I have watched. The body catching tendency can be coached out of him. That said I prefer Williams and Davis by a long shot. My instinct says if we draft a smallish, faster guy Dede Westbrook and Curtis Samuels might be a better choice in the 2nd round. Most of the mocks I have done on Fanspeak, the first hinges on who is available at 19. If Edge rushers don’t fill out the early slots Derek Barnett could very well be there and I like him a lot. The same is true of tackles. If OTs don’t fill out the top half of the first Cam Robinson or Ramcyzk could be a good choice at 19.

    Of course this is all depends on FA…so who knows.
