Quit Blaming Miko!

March 24th, 2016
More nonsense from the four-letter.

More nonsense from the four-letter.

Boy, oh boy. The NFL must be chock-full of ADD-afflicted, toilet-paper-thin-skinned, overly-sensitive characters if someone not even affiliated with a team, not even employed by a team, can Pearl Harbor a team.

Just how in the world could any football team win one game in the 21st century with satellite radio, DirecTV, podcasts, blogs, 24/7 sports radio and television networks and the evil Internet?

Despite the NFL being more popular than ever, some believe a player’s wife can take down a team. And if you listen to one owner, perhaps a league!

Danny Kannell — who Joe likes a lot — and Ryen Russillo, of BSPN, decide to tackle the premise that Miko Grimes, the intelligent, flamboyant wife of Bucs cornerback Brent Grimes, is the reason for her husband’s demise.

Claiming a guy can be a Pro Bowl player with no baggage and unwanted at the same time is a nice stretch, but OK, if that’s what Kannell believes.

Kannell claims, yes, really, Miko is a distraction and bad for her husband, saying a player must give a team a reason to keep him.

Stop! Like Grimes’ play wasn’t enough? Joe might — keyword: might — swallow that if it’s a bubble player. Grimes is anything but a bubble player. C’mon!

Shoot, Rex Ryan told Joe this week he’s been irritated for years his teams, the Bills and the Jets, couldn’t afford to sign Grimes. Joe was told of at least three teams actively were bidding for Grimes’ services when he chose to come to Tampa Bay.

And there seems to be the suggestion Miami actually wanted to keep Grimes, despite what shady Stephen Ross, the strongman of the Dolphins, said at this week’s owners meetings. Shoot, even Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph openly spoke about wanting to keep Grimes.

As Joe wrote two weeks ago, and Jason Licht stated this week, losing is a distraction, not a player’s wife. And if a player’s wife really is a distraction, the team has major, major issues.

Does anyone actually believe players, in the defensive huddle for example, or in the middle of practice, are actually thinking about what Miko is going to write on social media that night? Really?

If you believe that, then you also believe every NFL player popped for a banned substance is on Adderall, and you also believe in the Easter Bunny.

  10. Mike Johnson Says:

    Mrs Grimes? Not comment worthy.

  11. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Wait a minute, there’s no Easter Bunny?

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I would like some articles about Grimes without including Miko…..we seem to be able to do that with all our other players…..why not Grimes….

Now Amanda Tynes is the last player’s wife I recall reading about on JBF.

I’m sure some of the wives make interesting stories and are doing some great community work….do we hear about it….oh, that’s right, Joe writes what interests Joe….and Joe probably isn’t interested in the boring public service activities of player’s wives….and that’s perfectly OK because neither am I.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

TBBF…oh some funk R&B eh. Isley Bros.

Well I’m an 80’s kid so. lol

  14. Mike Johnson Says:

Say Joe..tampabaybucfan is on to something here..Why not do some articles on Buc wives making positive contributions to the community and our society? I’m sure a lot of guys would read it. Why is it this trash gets all of the attention?

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Mike… I don’t think TBBF was being sarcastic when he typed :

“Joe writes what interests Joe….and Joe probably isn’t interested in the boring public service activities of player’s wives….and that’s perfectly OK because neither am I.”

  16. salish_seamonster Says:

It’s offseason. NFL talkers need stuff to talk about. So we have people worrying about Miko. I’m not worrying until she starts throwing daggers at Bucs players. And if any players are weak enough to let Miko get in their heads, then they are too sensitive to play in the NFL. Of course, JBF will use her remarks to generate clicks even if it’s in the best interest of all involved to ignore the social media nonsense.

  17. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Buc1987

    Grab the wife

Put on some Frankie Beverly & Maze
Sip on your favorite beverage of choice

and have a good Ole time.

  18. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Stop! Like Grimes’ play wasn’t enough? Joe might — keyword: might — swallow that if it’s a bubble player. Grimes is anything but a bubble player. C’mon! – Joe

Actually, he might be right. If the Pro Bowl was based solely on results on the field, then he would most certainly be wrong. But to deny the possibility that a voting based on popularity among fans, coaches and players would hold her actions against him might be wrong too.

It does make a limited amount of sense. The majority of fans can’t stand her. If he were not in Tampa…WE probably would not like her either. And that would affect the voting process.

  19. Joe Says:

I would like some articles about Grimes without including Miko…..we seem to be able to do that with all our other players…..why not Grimes….

You haven’t been reading Joe this week, have you?

I’m sure some of the wives make interesting stories and are doing some great community work

Joe is not interested in boring people to death and chasing readers away with stories about someone planting flowers at a community church.

  20. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I kind of like the idea of a “Wives Club” weekly article, Joe. Or bi-weekly.

The wives can share recipes with JBF readers!

  21. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Like I said Joe….neither am I.

  22. OAR Says:

Anybody else think its creepy how they look like? They could be twins or brother and sister.

Still think the “What home game will Miko get arrested at Raymond J Stadium” Pool would be a great idea.

  23. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Joe

Yes there was an article about Grimes (Players looking up to him) and it didn’t mention Miko……but it did have a click on in red…..”with a very interesting wife”…..I guess that doesn’t count.

  24. Chris Armstrong Says:

The only things I care about regarding the Bucs is the players, the schedule and the weather. Everything else falls into the “Who gives a damn” category. That being said, hope nothing negative for the team stems from “Media Miko” and she enjoys herself here! Go Bucs!

  25. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Miko is like a coral snake……small, colorful, pretty…..but when she chews on you a while….bad news!!!

  26. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I care about winning consistently from year to year.

That way I see it, after this draft, a little development time and this team should be among the best.

  27. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

I agree Bonzai.. I think we about to be scary good here in a minute.

  28. Tiny Tim Says:

The problem is some of her comments can be perceived as coming from grimes which does cause problems in the locker room. Thats why grimes had to meet with the higher ups on more than seven times. Thats why it was reported at least 3 teams were not interested in a 4 time pro bowl cornerback. She is hurting her husband negotiating power. Wake up joe and all his minions….her actions are a direct reflection on an organization. Buc1987’s comments do not go viral regardless of how much he may complain about the bucs because he like all of us are just fans. Miko’s blabbering goes viral only because she is a players wife. Not sure why joe does not understand this. If she was not married to brent, she would be just another instagram chick craving for attention in which joe would give two squats about what she thinks. Please treat her as such.

  29. Tiny Tim Says:

    @87

I was only using your name as an example

  30. BigHogHaynes Says:

Who’s that lady, who’s that lady. Beautiful lady, who’s that lady. Real, real fine lady, who’s that lady. I would love to take home, but her heart is made of stone, gotta keep on keepen on, cause if I don’t she’ll do me wrong! Let the lady (Ms Miko) have her say. My job is to Treat Her Like A Lady!

  31. StPeteBucsFan Says:

    @87

Excellent choice of music! I could see Miko dancing in those cheerleader outfits just like the 80’s.

She brings passion to the situation….this team has been in desperate need of some genuine passion and it doesn’t all have to come from #3. I say bring it Miko.

  32. Tampabaybucfan Says:

“Quit Blaming Miko” Miko is now a victim!!!

  33. DB55 Says:

Forget Miko can we get some articles on/about/with Casey Phillips? I’m telling you Joe Periscope with Casey Phillips. YES AND PRETTY PLEASE!!!

  34. Idontwannahearitanymore Says:

I still wanna know what happened to the freakin’ Easter Bunny. I’ll listen, really.

  35. Pickgrin Says:

If Miko becomes a “problem” here in Tampa Bay – it will be because the Buccaneers are losing. She will be calling out the people not doing a good enough job – in no uncertain terms and in her unique “in your face” way – and that will be perceived as a “problem” by some or perhaps many.

This is basically what happened in Miami.

Winning is the “bad” Miko antidote.

  36. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @Idontwannahearitanymore

The Easter Bunny ran off with the Tooth Fairy and hasn’t been heard from since.

  37. Steve Says:

Joe, I think you’re the only bucs fan who doesn’t think she will be a distraction. It’s your love for the ladies I understand.

  38. BucTrooper Says:

I wish my wife was half as supportive as Miko.

  39. Dave Says:

She annoys but whatever. If the team is winning, it won’t matter. If they are losing, it will be a distraction, just like lots of things.
But…. The notion that teams “need a reason to keep a player other than good play is foolish. Look at the baggage some teams will deal with for talent— Greg hardy and the Cowboys anyone?

  40. Milenkosoe Says:

Time for a miko poll. Should she stay or should she go (on joes site)

  41. Tbbucs3 Says:

Joe, Miko Grimes is out of her mind and deserves no attention. Just see on Twitter she’s out of control no way this goes smoothly.
