“Jameis Should Be Up For NFC Player Of The Week”

October 1st, 2015

Jameis WinstonNot only did Jameis Winston, America’s Quarterback, play well against the Texans, one NFL player thinks Jameis should be soaking in a huge honor right now.

Joe’s talking about Bucs’ drop-infected wide receiver Mike Evans.

Evans hopped on the Buccaneers Radio Network tonight and heaped even more blame on himself for Sunday’s loss — and he wanted everyone to know how good Jameis is.

“Jameis played great. You know, that connection is there. The continuity is there. He was throwing everywhere he was supposed to be.  I just got to make the routine plays,” Evans said. “Made some, not enough.

“[Jameis] should be up for NFC Player of the Week and we should have a W.”

Evans also explained that Jameis was so on point it might have worked against the Bucs. Evans said on the first completion to him, an offensive pass interference call, Jameis’ precision probably confused officials.

“I ran a go route. Jameis threw a great ball. He threw me open,” Jameis said. “So I guess that’s why I looked like I got so much separation, because he threw me far outside my shoulder, made a great throw. And I guess the ref, I had too much separation, so I guess he called it. I don’t know.”

Evans also said if he doesn’t drop a wide open pass in his hands, then Jameis doesn’t throw an interception on the next throw.

Joe loves hearing all the love for the Bucs’ rookie savior. It inspires hope, about all the Bucs have right now.

Offense needs to start scoring touchdowns and less settling for FG. I’m encouraged that the offense is making a little progress. The drops and penalties show a lack of discipline. Additionally, the D needs to pick it up. They are giving up too many big plays to be a reliable unit.

  2. tmaxcon Says:

Hopefully evans and Winston get on the same page fast. It will take all world performances from Winston and Evans to overcome Lovie and the Panthers Sunday. It stinks the offense has to overcome two opponents each week.

  3. scotty Says:

They all suck! It’s so painful to watch! Everything we do looks ugly we struggle at every aspect of the game so sad.

  4. BrianBucs Says:

I think that Mikey should be given the concussion protocol if he thinks that Jameis played that well. Too many off-target passes and staring down of receivers. Jameis looking bettter, but still not real good. Just needs time I think

  5. WalkdaPlank Says:

Jameis Winston, God’s Quarterback, needs no silly player of the week award, as he receives a crown of thorns and a holy grail from Jesus every Sunday.

  6. BrianBucs Says:

Maybe somebody should tell Mikey that Marcus Mariota today was named the NFL Offensive Rookie Of The Month for September

  7. Eric Says:

    Jameis is doing very well.

Man if we could just get to the bye at 3-2 this thing would look a lot different.

  8. Cannon Says:

    Evans has a point.

If Evans had made those catches, Winstoncould very well have received a reward.

  9. CC Says:

Anybody else watching Zutah drive his defenser 5 yards downfield on every Ravens run. He wasn’t good enough dor our oline.
    Go Bucs!

Don’t all you haters ever get bored?

Winston played pretty well last week, at least until deep into the 2nd half- his accuracy definitely started dropping and he was pressing. But honestly his lack of success was in due largely to the play of his WRs and TEs. Any human being with half a brain could see that. His passes were not off in the first half at all, no once could squeeze the damn ball.

And let me be clear, I’m not an FSU or JW homer by an means. I actually wanted Mariota leading up to the draft. When it became clear that Winston was going to be our guy, I got behind him, like any real fan would.

NFL players of the week usually are on teams that win….

I do appreciate Evans’ support and taking the responsibliity for his mistakes….

  12. Danr Says:

Except he actually did commit pass interference on that play

  13. Waterboy Says:

@Danr unless you were in Houston at the game or your tv shows special camera angles aren’t shown on regular TV, there’s no way you saw an offensive push off on that play. I’ve watched that play several times at different speeds and I didn’t see offensive pass interference on that play.

  14. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

Please offensive line we need you to block well 🙁

  15. Buccfan37 Says:

Evans needs to lay off on the little hand push that he uses on defenders that cover him tight.

  16. Pickgrin Says:

That “offensive pass interference” call was just another example of how the Bucs perpetually seem to have to beat 2 different opponents most Sundays to win games.

The opposing team AND the Referees.

Seems to me the obviousness of the NFL being fixed (at least to a degree) becomes more and more obvious with each passing year. Especially if you are a Bucs fan…

  17. Buc1987 Says:

For some odd reason Danr hates Mike Evans….I don’t know what it is. Perhaps Evans snubbed him for an autograph or pissed in his Froot Loops or something. He just doesn’t like him. Been going on since preseason.

  18. Bo Says:

Joe…Jameis doesn’t need you to be his cheerleader. Stop it already.. His play will do the talking.

  19. DB55 Says:

Winston had a few throws he’d like to have back. Mike will be alright. L&L really need to call nick oleary. Forget what the experts say you can’t teach chemistry it takes time.

  20. Trubucfan22 Says:

Gotta agree. If Evans makes the plays he should have, Bucs win and Jameis throws For 3 or 4 TDs. It was an off game for our positional players. The running game and receivers under Performed, while Winston was on point all game. Re watch it if you think I’m lying.

  21. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Mike Evans should shut his pie hole and focus more on catching the damn balls!!!!

  22. Gus Says:

Evans on that play did not push off whatsoever. The refs guessed on the play instead of calling what they are seeing. It wasn’t just in this game but this is happening around the league and its BS! Call what you see.

    CC Says
“Anybody else watching Zutah drive his defenser 5 yards downfield on every Ravens run. He wasn’t good enough dor our oline.”

He was sent packing for cap reasons, not skill or talent reasons. He had just gotten a huge contract.

Personally, I think it would have been worth it to keep him.

  24. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

TheBucsAnthem should just shut his pie hole.

  25. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    Trubucfan22 Says
“Gotta agree. If Evans makes the plays he should have, Bucs win and Jameis throws For 3 or 4 TDs.”

    Wow. That’s stretching it.

Bucs would have actually won had our kicker made his field goal attempts, but those drops to Evans were not touchdown passes.

If anything, Winston should have targeted Jackson more. He has two star WRs…use them both.

  26. Danati74 Says:

Mike Evans must have been hanging with Robert Herron during his time away. I know he will regain form, but it was baffling watching him drop passes. Sure some passes weren’t perfect, but were still in his radius. Being a 6’5 receiver drafted #7 overall we expect more from him. His team does. We have a rookie QB. He needs to put up,..or shut up.

  27. 813bucboi Says:

jus catch the damn ball and stop pushing off 5’10 corners…GO BUCS!!!
